The only Semi-Auto shotgun I own is that 11-48 I posted pics of, and they stopped making them long ago.
It's a $2000 shogun so I somehow doubt that, but whatever, I'll buy it.
Also, MAS 36 is a good choice if you want something French. Granted it is a firearm made in France which immediately flags it as shit, but the MAS is probably the one good weapon they've made in history.
Meh they're hit or miss like Spain.
They have their Chauchats, but they also have the MAB P-15, Manurhin MR-73, MAS-36, MAS-49 and FAMAS all of which are excellent designs. Their SIG 540 and PPK clones are fantastic as well.

The FAMAS is comparable to the M16A2 in early form or the L85A1 in reliability. It's far from a good weapon. Plus it's bullpup which gives it a big negative in my book.
Atleast the FAMAS looks cool V:v:V

Ugly as hell in my opinion, but I guess looks are a largely personal thing though.
In the end, looks don't matter too much.
Well there's still the MAB P-15, Manurhin MR-73, MAS-36 and MAS-49 which are still very good. Especially the Manurhin (although it's expensive).

Hooray! finally someone else who can't stand bullpup rifles!
I get the whole "longer barrel shorter overall length" thing, but in my (somewhat limited i'll admit, only fired a couple in my lifetime) they are a pain in the ass to reload, it just doesn't feel comfortable at all.
from what I seen, you flip the gun forward, remove the mag and put a new one in, put it into fire ready position and rack bolt.
Doesn't seem too bad

Thats allot of the point, I like to change out my magazines without having to move my rifle.
Just sold my refinished Enfield 2A for $320.
Getting a Type 99 now, what should I look for? Besides last ditch rifles anyway.

I've been looking for one of those for so long for a decent price... figures :saddowns:
Man, this thread makes me sad. I've never even held a gun before...

Think about doing it in a prone position, then think of how much easier a standard would be.

Look at the before mine... at the bottom.
Does anyone remember what kind of rifling the G36 uses?
There are two license you can get: a 'Shotgun Certificate' and a 'Firearms Certfificate'. You must have a reason to own either, usually requiring you to be a member of a club or have your own land to shoot on for vermin control.
A shotgun certificate is relatively easy to obtain, requiring a small amount of paperwork, one referee etc. You can own as many shotguns as you please and store no more than your stated amount of ammunition at home. You are required to have a gun safe which is attached to a solid brick wall, which is inspected by a Police officer before your application can continue. You can own a shotgun which is semi automatic, pump action, over and under - whatever - so long as it does not hold more than 2 rounds (2 + 1) in the magazine. IIRC the gun must also not use external/ removable magazines. If you wish to own a shotgun with a removable magazine, or one which has not got its magazine capacity limited, you would need to obtain it through a firearms certificate, and it becomes a 'section 5' shotgun. The only real accepted reason for owning a section 5 shotgun is when you're involved in PSG (Practical Shotgun) competitions.
A firearms certificate is a bit more complicated, but still more time consuming than difficult. It requires multiple referees, exact details on how many firearms you're planning to own, their calibre, model etc. You have 5 slots or 'variations' on your ticket which you can fill with firearms of differing calibres. If you wish to own a gun of a different calibre to one specified, you must apply for a new variation on your certificate. The same goes for people wishing to own more than 5 firearms. The same requirements for a gun safe are in place, there are police inspections etc.
There are huge waiting periods for applications of either gun, some counties process it quicker than others. Some people have to wait 2 months, some have to wait 6 or 7. It's not predictable
In terms of actual firearm restrictions:
Banned
- Semi automatic centrefire rifles
- Handguns
- Firearms that are less than 600mm (23inches) in overall length. NOT INCLUDING BLACK POWDER/ MUZZLE LOADING GUNS
Legal
- Semi automatic rimfire rifles (.22 LR being the most popular here)
- Non semi automatic centre rifles (only bolt actions, straight pull, lever actions etc; essentially rifles requiring manual feeding
- Shotguns
- Muzzle-loading/ blackpowder pistols and rifles
- Air rifles not exceeding 12ft/lbs of energy (if it is any higher, it must be held on a firearms certificate, otherwise they are unregistered and can be bought by anyone 18 or older)
- Air pistols not exceeding 6ft/lbs of energy
And you Americans thought California was bad!
Hope that was helpful. It's relatively condensed, there is some more to it. You can find shit loads of information about this on this by Googling for it, if you're really interested.
Thanks alot. Now I know I definatley won't beable to get a decent firearm. These laws are fuckin' retarded.

That is why we use the G36E :v:

Damn straight. It's still possible to enjoy yourself, though. I went to gun club for quite a while, only got to shoot some martini-action .22 LR target rifles, though. I'm going to return to the club when I finally get my own place to live, then go about applying for my FAC. My mother isn't ok with having firearms in the house. She's not anti-gun or anything, she just doesn't like the things. I respect her opinion either way.
The laws are shit, but they could be a lot worse. You can still enjoy yourself. If you're really all for the kind of tactical 'run and gun' (I just fucking cringed so much thinking about nutnfancy then, and that is the first time i've used that statement in context) type stuff, you might want to look into practical shotgun (PSG). You've then got a valid reason to any shotgun you please, with large magazine capacities etc. Shotguns are still relatively unrestricted in the United Kingdom.
It could be a lot worse, look at South Korea:
In South Korea, it is a capital offense for anyone not related to military to own or distribute firearms.
Also, was that your 223rd (or .223) post, in a gun thread? You fucking win if so.

get one that has a complete mum (Emperor's crest), as with captured K98s they often get scrubbed.
That would be sexy.
They're like $300 tops bro...
I know. But every time I go into a shop, they're always jacked at around $500, some even higher. I even went to a few gun shows (usually they have some pretty good deals if you look hard enough) and every single one started at at least 5.
I've seen places like Gunbroker and everything, it's just I hate buying through them.
