Fired my first guns today.
Mostly fired .22s, thought they were really easy to use, they had extremely low recoil, barely any sound.
I used a Sig Mosquito (.22 version of 226)
Some kind of Ruger reproduction of a Colt Peacemaker
And a shitty .22 rifle from walmart.
I also used an AR-15 with a .22 conversion/
Then we went to the big boy guns. I used the real AR-15 rounds, .223s I think, they had a bit of recoil.
I also used an M9 Beretta, pretty powerful.

Good for you now you can say you've shot a gun.

223's would have marginal recoil up from 22. It's a very easy going round compared to some of the monster calibers out there.
Also wouldn't mind trying out one of those Beretta's. They just look cool :v:

I've tried a Beretta 92 and its form made it slightly hard to handle. I agree it looks cool but after firing one it put me off of them a little bit. Still good looking.

how was it?

Yea they look good and fire well but my only real complaint is that the grip is big, so you have to use your left hand to use the slide release/safety/magazine release etc...

yeah full size pistols are too big
Most other pistols are smaller.
M9's grip is very big compared to others, because the magazine is double-stack instead of single like the 1911.
you should try a glock 19
much better pistol than the m9 imo

M9s are okay. Okay meaning mediocre.
Aside from the iffy ergonomics, every M9 I've ever shot has jammed a shitload (and they were all properly maintained and oiled as well).
Today my dad and I went to some property and brought guns and ammo. Lots of ammo.
400 rounds of 9mm, 200 of .45, 500 of .223, 200 0f 7.62x39, and 100 rounds of 12 gauge buckshot.
Best fun I ever had with my dad.
Now to restock on ammo hahahaha.

I honestly am not bothered by grip sizes, Having shot a full sized XD-45 and M&P 40, I hardly notice any difference (though the M&P's slide release is darn stiff in comparison to the XD's). I have a vice like grip on whatever I'm shooting.
The Beretta 92fs I handled felt and fit pretty darn nicely in hand. Didn't bother me.
Though twist my arm behind my back if I had to pick a big fullsized pistol it would be an FNP 45. Followed by either a Glaaawwwwwk 23 or an FNX 40.
My family owns a Beretta 92FS and I think it's a nice gun. I've got big hands, so maybe that's why it doesn't feel too big to me (although the grip on my full size single stack mag pistol seems a lot more comfortable), but the idea of someone needing their left hand for the mag release and safety seems ridiculous. Also, aside from the break in period (there was one failure to extract in the first 100 rounds we put through the gun), I don't recall it ever jamming on even the cheapest ammo.
Guys, I want to ask you something. How much is taticool? A scope? Or flashlights and foregrip?

"Tacticool" isn't a matter of amount per se, but a matter of necessity.

So is units serving in Afghanistan considered Tacticool? Some of them have huge amounts of accessories. Do they buy em themselves?
No that is Parcticool, completely different to what you are thinking.

That always perplexed me too, the amount of attachments I seen on some of those M4's was comical. I don't know what kind of Q hands out laser's and flashlights by the dozen.

People who spend their paycheck on more BS gear they will probably never use, and then complain that the military needs to buy lighter guns because with 103908240725 accessories it's suddenly a burden to carry.
Just because people are in the military doesn't mean they know what's best and how to do things properly. So many people seem to forget this and just copy everything the military does.

So even soldiers can be dumb when it comes to the guns that they themselves used?

Usually the people that carry all that shit are actually fit unlike you, the 900 pound tactical /k/ operator hypocrite
So even soldiers can be dumb when it comes to the guns that they themselves used?
Not shooting each other and themselves in the foot kind of stupid, no. I think the British term for protecting something against the kind of stupidity that soldiers have is "Squaddie-proof", not sure what the American equivalent is.

"Soldier proof"
Referring to the fact that you inevitably do stupid shit and your weapon gets mistreated worse than a sex slave when you are on 30 hours no sleep and in a firefight every day.
So even soldiers can be dumb when it comes to the guns that they themselves used?
Well I could say something pretty insulting regarding ground infantry...
But yes, a good majority of them barely even know their weapons system. Much less what will/won't work out in the field, besides what a buddy told them.
I imagine most of them never plan on taking a 20 mile hike with all the new fancy do-dads they bought, either. Why do you think there was so much bitching and whining over switching to the M16 originally? Bigger bullet equals enemy more dead!
Seriously, don't act like these guys are the end all when it comes to what's "best."

Go tell all those soldiers and marine infantrymen that they don't know their weapon systems from the hairs on their nuts.
Actually where did you ever get this ridiculous notion that infantrymen are in the habit of buying tons of accessories and shit they don't need? If anything it's the opposite. In fact you can routinely see infantrymen ragging on "gear queers" who buy shit that is unnecessary dead weight, and ultimately never gets used.
Fuck just look at that forum I linked you to in the equipment section, page upon page of veterans telling new guys lessons learned on stuff that is essential and stuff that can be shit canned.
