K http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/ Go tell all those soldiers and marine infantrymen that they don't know their weapon systems from the hairs on their nuts. Actually where did you ever get this ridiculous notion that infantrymen are in the habit of buying tons of accessories and shit they don't need? If anything it's the opposite. In fact you can routinely see infantrymen ragging on "gear queers" who buy shit that is unnecessary dead weight, and ultimately never gets used. Fuck just look at that forum I linked you to in the equipment section, page upon page of veterans telling new guys lessons learned on stuff that is essential and stuff that can be shit canned.
Dude its pretty true. I have a friend in the marines and he really doesn't know shit. He just knows the basics of what he needs to know.
I'm rather curious as to what extra gear you guys are talking about. I rarely see anything other than a foregrip and a red dot/holo on military AR-15 platforms. Neither of which seems overly spurious. I also see polymer magazines with the rubber hooks on the bottom, but those are also quite useful. What the hell else are people putting on their rifles?

One of them was in an M4 skills competition. It's a bit unfair to categorize all infantry as idiots.

There shouldn't be any assumption until statistics are examined.

I wish i could shoot guns i live in the UK and the only chance i get is once a year at this farm fair where i shot a double barrel shotgun and something else i don't remember.
Dude its pretty true. I have a friend in the marines and he really doesn't know shit. A standard combat load of 6 magazines with mag pouches, 2 grenades with pouches, a mag dump pouch, and the body armour with sapi plates weighs around 35 to 40 lbs. Adding a camel back adds 8 lbs alone when full, and a mainpack ontop of that is aroun 60lbs. all this coupled with the weapons weigh (m16 aroun 8lbs, m249 about 23lbs) it all starts to add up. Yes we train to be able to be effective with all this weight, but the more there is the less effective you'll be.

Any infantryman worth a damn knows their weapon back to front and inside out and is capable of deciding what is or isn't needed. Anyone who does not meet these requirements is a fucking cunt and shouldn't be in the infantry corps. [editline]23rd February 2011[/editline] These shitbags are fairly common but for every one of those there are two switched-on guys, just saying
Dude its pretty true. I have a friend in the marines and he really doesn't know shit. He just knows the basics of what he needs to know.
Is your friend a 03xx ? If not, he doesn't NEED to know shit about his weapon.
Is your friend a 03xx ? If not, he doesn't NEED to know shit about his weapon.
Everyone should know at least a little about it. I dunno how things roll in the US but here, everyone is trained as a soldier first, then whatever their actual role is second.

My old cell phones were shitty Upstate new york was cold The phones sat on a snowman in the front yard I shot them 45 times with a pump action .22 I upload pictures later maybe. <3 plinking [editline]23rd February 2011[/editline] - its a remington model something. i really like it, its not ours, its just the "cabin gun" under the bed but i already seem pretty familiar with it, clearing jams, decocking it and such
Everyone should know at least a little about it.
He just knows the basics of what he needs to know.
So his friend, who is not indicative of the rest of the armed forces in any way whatsoever, 'know[s] at least a little about it'.
plastic guns look terrible to me
For the record I do put some toys on my M16, and I DO know it inside and out. I can basic dissassemble in 5 seconds and complete disassemble in 20. As for the toys all I put on there is a broomstick, a pec-15, and a high intensity flashlight. Usually ill leave the pec-15 off though since its primarily for nvg fighting and marking targets. Oh and the laser does not show up like it does in cod, it only does that if there's a lot of smoke or fog.

What kind of rifle should I use for target shooting? Someone suggested a Marlin model 982 bolt-action, (a .22 round I think) but I want some more opinions before a buy one.
What kind of rifle. should I use for target shooting?
Talk about the broadest question ever.
[img_thumb]http://cdn.okcimg.com/php/load_okc_image.php/images/0x0/0x0/0/16427897481595895012.jpeg___1_500_1_500_cb94de6a_.png[/img_thumb]
I sure do love me some P90 action. How does one go about getting the short-barreled military version? All I ever can find is the long-barreled civilian version
tactical lee enfield
But yes, a good majority of them barely even know their weapons system. Much less what will/won't work out in the field, besides what a buddy told them.
Are you fucking kidding me? Like seriously, that is the BIGGEST load of bullshit Ive ever heard.
[img_thumb]http://www.specialinterestarms.com/100_6673.JPG[/img_thumb] tactical lee enfield
Isn't that the .45 cal Enfield that was used by the actual military or something Looks too professional to be a bubba
Talk about the broadest question ever.
Okay fine, what's a decent, relatively cheap target-shooting rifle capable of accurate shots up to 300 yards?
[img_thumb]http://cdn.okcimg.com/php/load_okc_image.php/images/0x0/0x0/0/16427897481595895012.jpeg___1_500_1_500_cb94de6a_.png[/img_thumb]
Got a tax stamp to go with that? Also, it's PEQ-15, with a Q
Everyone should know at least a little about it. I just don't like the misconception or rather the assumption that people have of infantry soldiers as being simple merely because it has one of the lowest education requirements of military jobs world wide.

Not to mention it is one of the most physically intense jobs within the military.
