I think its funny that they used the spas12 in stargate sg1 alongside the usas12. The show had the airforces approval, yet they still let them use the spas instead of say the mossberg 590 or the benali M4/M1014.
Thanks for the help, I ordered my Dad two mags. They won't sell us 25 round mags because we live in New York which is bullshit but oh well. Factory 10 Rounds are okay, it's just a .22
Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a Remington 870 for a Graduation gift. Anything you guys have to say about that or is it a solid purchase? Not positive the exact model but maybe a Tactical Express.
870's are cool.
Though you should look at alternatives and decide for yourself if the 870's flap thingy ma jiggy where you load in the shells in won't piss you off or not. I went with the Mossberg 500 because that flap just got way to annoying for me (if you do go for a Mossberg go for an A1 model). Plus I kept on running into 870's bizarre sticky pump.
I always liked the Spas's clunky charm, wouldn't mind having one as a collectors peice. I hear they go for a pretty penny nowadays.
My new lightweight AR build...

We have lots of them in Australia because they work great as scrub guns. Stop your bitching!
Oh my fucking god, someone please tell me the address of the fuck head that made this so I can gouge out is goddamn eyeballs.
That would be Stoeger. Y'know, those guys that have a pretty huge market share on coach guns. It comes like that from the factory and for that reason (as well as the fact that the setup shown in that image is pretty practical) I don't see anything wrong with it.
I'd put a bipod on the lower rail
Out at moose camp in Alaska I have 3 guns with me.
A Benelli super nova pump 12 gauge with a red dot sight, call a red dot on a shotgun stupid but when a grizzly comes charging through camp you don't want have to line up a sight. You want to just lift your gun up and launch a slug through it's head.
I also carry a Tarus raging bull .454 casull just in case that SOB is on top of me.
Now for the moose I use your traditional .338
Always fun times at camp!

That's too many guns, unless you are hunting/camping with a group. The most you should be using is either the shot gun or the rifle, and having the pistol for self defense.

Oxymoron.
My Dad is spending money on a drunken sailor and he's buying himself a Shotgun. Why? Hell if I know he barely knows how to operate a firearm. Well, anyway, God Bless America and all etc. etc.
He said he'll buy me one and of course I'm like "Hell yeah, I've been meaning to get a shotgun!" so this is my early Graduation present.
Now, I want either a Remington 870 Tactical Express or a Mossberg M500. Leaning toward a Mossberg because I'm not hearing great things across the board with the Remington.
But, anyway, are these shotguns that you can buy at a store like say, Gander Mountain or Dicks or will I have to do some searching? I'd like to handle the gun before I actually buy it. For the record I don't want any of the bullshit hunting camo, tactical folding stocks or any of that other bullshit. Full stock or bust, black finish and we're done.

I don't take chances when I am 20 miles in bear and moose country, I mean yeah it might be too many guns but is it bad to have a back up plan? Like Burt says in tremors "When you need it and don't have it, you sing a whole different tune."

This is your first gun, and you want to go straight to a tactical shotgun? Just buy a used 870 pump shotgun hunting and learn how to shoot first.
Go to a local gun store, they will have better prices than the chain stores. Also Cabela's has a nice used gun selection for reasonable prices. Bass Pro has a greater variety of new guns, but it's a little more pricey.
Yeah seriously dudes, don't splash out on your first gun. If you're new to shooting, you really, really ough to get a decent little .22. If you're not, then still buy something simple. Don't go buying up shit with TACTICAL in the name right off the bat unless you're a copper or into 3-gun or something. Just get a nice old 870 and roll with that.
Hell if you can pick up an ex-police 870 at a decent price, do it. Ex-police guns fucking own. Leave any property stamps on it for added class :smugdog:
On another note, I am thinking about getting a 1911, is the 1911 from High Standard any good. I don't want to spend $600.

We don't have Cabela's around here. What makes you think it's my first gun? I own a .22 and a M1 Carbine among others. I've fired Shotguns often enough, 20 and 12 gauge, gone hunting a few times with them as well.
It's not really a 'tactical' shotgun to me. It's basically just the only one in the line that is 'simple' none of that stupid folding stocks, adjustable cheek rests or flashlight foregrips. They're just simple guns, synthetic stocks, black finish and the basics. I'm not buying it purely because it's a tactical shotgun that word means fuck-all to me and it's even kind of offensive that you take me for someone that'd make impulse purchases because it's 'like that shotgun in call of duty' or what not.

I wrote a really nice reply to this but for some reason Facepunch didn't post it. The thing is I've never had to buy a gun before because my Grandfather is a Gunsmith and he's just given me some of his guns. I'm even learning to gunsmith myself bit by bit but I'm a long way off. I'm not new to shooting, Shotguns or otherwise, I'm pretty decent shot with them from what I can tell.
This ultimately goes back to the question I asked originally, if any of the places around here in Liberal Country will actually carry the guns I'm looking for because I'd really like to handle them before I make a purchase.

I got my Mozzarellaberg 500 at Ghandi Mountain. Big 5 tends to have decent prices for shotguns, so that would be a good place to start for the basic no-nonsense stuff that you want. Gander's the same way.
As I said earlier handle the two, you may like the 870 and not find the flap annoying, or heck you may even like the Benelli Nova, or the Browning BPS more.

I'm not so fond of the Ex-Police stuff. The ones I've seen and handled have scratched and dinged finishes galore which makes me a sad panda :frown:
Refinishing the stock on my AK. Little darker than I would like it to be, but oh well.
I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
This thread has been getting alot less activity ever since it was moved to this dark hole known as "chat threads"

What are you saying?
What are you saying?
A worn gun is better than a new gun, apparently. Would make sense if it were something like a WW2 gun i.e. it's got a long history, but seems silly for newish weapons.

I always get bashed because my .338 is all scratched up, people say I don't take care of my gun. When in reality I do, what people don't realize is that it isn't a range gun. I take this thing out and really use it, I put my guns through hell. I am crawling over gravel, dirt , etc...
But it always gets cleaned, and even though the wood is all scratched up and dinged to hell the bolt slides like butter and the barrel looks like it just came from the factory.
But don't get me wrong I love a nice new shiny gun, and it is the way I prefer them. But after it gets that first scratch I stop caring.
The only gun I own that still looks new is my .454

Granted that picture is over 2 years old but the only difference is the porting at the end of the barrel has blackened a little more.
Shelled out for a Springfield 1911 yesterday. Now the waiting period :frown:

I love the Range Officer 1911 model they sell.
