It wouldn't recoil that bad, given that .303 is pretty low-pressure and the Bren weighs a fucking ton (the distribution of that weight makes it seem a lot heavier than it actually is, too). The recoil from my No.4 is pretty mild, put the same round in a gun weighing in excess of 20lbs and it would be even milder. The bolt in a lot of machine guns is big, heavy, and under some serious spring tension. Dry firing an (empty!) F89 will cause it to jump forwards and then rock back enough (when on its bipod) that you can really feel it. I was pretty surprised the first time I noticed, but it makes sense mechanically.
While I'm not disputing that, I put a fair few (blank) belts through an MG42 and there is almost no recoil on that. It is a pleasant surprise to feel recoil after using the 42. Bren sounds much cooler too, 'BOP BOP BOP' as opposed to 'HISSSSSSSSSSSS'.

I quite like the TKB-022PM for some odd reason. I wonder how things would've played out if it had actually become a service rifle.
Dos retarded memes.... [editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
I quite like the TKB-022PM for some odd reason. I wonder how things would've played out if it had actually become a service rifle.
How does it feed rounds? There is nowhere for the bolt to go...
How does it feed rounds? There is nowhere for the bolt to go...
I would've thought it scoops them forward somehow with something resembling those little bits of metal on the back of PC cases for covering unused slots. I wonder if there's a diagram lurking about somewhere, i'd be really interested to see it. [editline]5th March 2011[/editline] Haha, turns out I was right :D [editline]5th March 2011[/editline] EDIT: Wait, that diagram may be full of shit. Trying to find a decent one, though with a 60's Soviet weapon that never moved past the prototype stage, it might be impossible :c EDIT2: Yeah, it doesn't eject from there (above the barrel instead) but the method by which it pulls in a new round may be correct.

The TKB-022 assault rifle is gas-operated weapon with annular gas piston located around the barrel. To achieve minimum length, it is assembled into bull-pup configuration and uses vertically sliding bereech block (bolt), rather than traditional and most common bolt that cycles back and forth. Since the movement of the bolt (breechblock) in this design cannot be used to extract, eject and load cartridges, Korobov developed a special U-shaped rammer / extractor, that strips the frech cartridge from magazine, pushes it into the chamber, then, after the discharge, pulls the fired cartridge case back from the chamber. Upon feeding the next fresh cartridge, the fired case is pushed forward and slightly up, into the ejection chute above the barrel. Spent cases finally fell off the gun above the muzzle. Gun was capable of full- and semi-automatic fire, with combined safety / fire mode selector switch located above the trigger on the left side of the gun. The gun housing was made from reddish-brown plastic, with metall structure hidden inside.
Don't get me wrong, I love my M249 SAW. But it is such a bitch to clean. [img_thumb]http://i52.tinypic.com/2ia966w.jpg[/img_thumb] (Camara phone sucks)
Oh man, try getting carbon out of a gas Regulator in the FN MAG, its the stuff of nightmares.
Oh man, try getting carbon out of a gas Regulator in the FN MAG, its the stuff of nightmares.
A good scraper, some CLP, and alot of Q-tips.

holy dick my shoulder hurts now. I didnt really aim at anything, but me and my dad are going to put a scope on the .308 and possibly bed the stock n stuff.
So my barrel and handguard should be here Tuesday. I just ordered matched receivers from Wilson Combat Picked up a Daniel Defense lpk, forward assist and ejection door Can't wait to get this built!!
Got my 10/22 today. Basic model with blued hardware and a cheap wood stock. Probably going to shot it next week, will decide then if it needs any modding. Also, I now have exactly 5! guns... yay.

If you fire the MG42 live, you are going to get a very, very big shock. 7.92 kicks far harder than .303 does and with 20 rounds of it leaving the barrel every second as opposed to half that of .303, the MG42 most certainly does recoil. for you my love <3 but seriously, it was a mismatched number mossin that I wanted to use for a cheap modernization build. shoots Hell of a lot better than it did before , and with the thunderous crack that the muzzle break adds it makes anyone smile like a little kid. also, ported flames look sweet at night. I knowwww what I'm doin calm down. It's practical not over the top.

That looks quite good. [editline]7th March 2011[/editline]
Blanks don't launch a weighty piece of lead and copper down the barrel and therefore generate hardly any recoil.
Meh. I don't find 7.62 recoil in military weapons to be that bad, you'll feel a lot more from a bolt action rifle using 6.5. I was severely "dissapointed" in the AG3's recoil after previously firing a Sauer STR 200 in 6.5. 7.62 Nato is most certainly manageable, but comparing blank rounds to live rounds will screw with your expectations :v:

But once again i have no idea what its called, but i guess midway or some gun parts place probably has them.
So how about them G36Cs and SCARs?
Too mainstream. Nobody's ever heard of the Xochiuatl.
Went to a gunshow in Ohio this past Sunday. Had some interesting guns, and a nice SGL21 I really wanted. I was suprised to see a bunch of high capacity mags for sale there, I'm pretty sure they're illegal. They had some 75 round drum mags for SKS's and some 33 rounders for Glocks. At any rate, I need to get a job and start saving money for that AK.
I would like to point out I wasn't comparing blank with live. I've fired the 42 (and 34) live several times.
A good scraper, some CLP, and alot of Q-tips.
You left out the hours of frustration whilst tryinng to clean in in order to return it to the armoury. The SAW on the otherhand I didn't thiink was too bad to clean, since you are able to break it down more you're able to clean more of it easily.
Do any of you guys recommend not getting a PT92?
How much they asking for it? Also, Inox or blued?
May i ask what that perforated half-tube on top of the barrel is?
[img_thumb]http://www.superdrummy.com/trenchgun.JPG[/img_thumb] May i ask what that perforated half-tube on top of the barrel is?
I think it's to act like a heat shield so your hand doesn't touch the hot barrel.
I think it's to act like a heat shield so you hand doesn't touch the hot barrel.
Ah. That makes sense.
Thats exactly what it is. Most military shotguns have some type of heat shiled, such as the mossberg 590.
How much they asking for it? Also, Inox or blued?
It's blued and they want 450 for it... that's cheap in Australia.
Old pump action shotguns had very small pump grips when compared to today's shotguns.
