Off-Topic but would you know if the Irish Army stole 36 Javelin missle launchers from the U.S Army? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FGM-148_Javelin#Operators
heh, America isin't the only one who uses Javelin launchers. We bought them to replace the old Milan in the 80's as it was considered ineffective against british heavy armour in a combat situation.
Hey guys Mosin Nagant M44 Best rifle of WW2
SMLE is so much better.
So there's a gun show this weekend about 20 minutes from my house, I have about 400$ I've saved up for it, anyone got anything I should look for? I saved up this money specifically for this gunshow, as it's massive, but I have no idea what I want to look for.
If you don't have an AR already, get a lower or an upper. If you're just collecting, get an RA 1911.
M1 carbine is best rifle of WW2 next to the K31
If you don't have an AR already, get a lower or an upper. If you're just collecting, get an RA 1911.
I have plans and money for an AR set aside, got a stripped lower and am ordering the parts kit to finish it off soon.
M1 carbine is best rifle of WW2 next to the K31
Rate this man agrees. M2 was also really fucking awesome.
M1 carbine is best rifle of WW2 next to the K31
Don't know about that. Bullet was a lot less powerful compared to other service rifles of the time period and despite being a close support "assault rifle-esque" weapon it's effective range is only around 200 m where compare that to the STG 44 of 300 m (and higher bullet capacity, more stopping power, firing modes, etc) If were going to say rifle of WW2 hands down the STG44. Russians ripped it off and made pretty much every AK you see today based off of the designs.

It's more of a copy of the M1 Garand than the STG-44. The STG-44 is also a highly crude and very unwieldy rifle.

Russians ripped it off and made pretty much every AK you see today based off of the designs.
AK and STG-44 are two different weapons. If I'm not mistaken, the STG was a predecessor to the CETME and G3 rifles, while the AK is a predecessor to the... Ak. As for best rifle of WWII? No. Just no. It was fragile and the magazines sucked, just to name a few of its ailments. The title of best rifle of WWII would go to the Enfield or the Garand or the K31 or the K98. I'd say Garand because I'm biased like that, but still. STG-44 does not even come close. Plus the M1 has a more growed up sibling, the M2 which has a full auto capabilities and a 30rd magazine.
Maybe I got ahead of myself there saying the best off WW2 but it is definetly up there in it's influence and "goodness". I reneg my statement and slot in the K31. Pretty much a perfected K98 in most aspects.
The Russians didn't copy any aspect of the STG-44 or STG-43 when making the AK 47, learn the history of the rifle please. And it was flimsy, awkward to hold due to lack of forward hand grip and huge magazine, and it seems to be stamped and made out of bottom of the barrel materials. Practically all models must be close to the last-ditch batch. The MKb 42 looks more solid than the STG-44. The Soviet Union was quick to adopt the assault rifle concept. The AK-47 used a similar-sized intermediate round and followed the design concept, but was mechanically different-- from wiki with love.
I wish real mans guns were allowed in australia, We can't even import fucking BB guns, I mean that's just bullshit.
Did they issue the M2 in WWII? I thought it was only Korea and 'Nam.
It was made in 1945 so it counts. "Carbine, Cal .30, M2 Early 1945 Selective fire (capable of fully-automatic fire) 30-round magazine About 600,000 produced Initially, the M1 Carbine was intended to have a selective-fire capability, but the decision was made to put the M1 into production without this feature. Fully-automatic capability was incorporated into the design of the M2 (an improved, selective-fire version of the M1), introduced in 1944. The M2 had a revised wood stock and featured the late M1 improvements to rear sight, a bayonet lug, and other minor changes." Wikipedia.
I can't wait untill I age 18, here in the Netherlands we've got strict laws on guns but you're allowed to have BB guns. Which, cruel as it is, I can use to make crows get the fuck out of my trashbins. There's also a shooting club in my town where I'll see what's what, I'd at least like to give some revolver a try.
Also, why do people jizz when they here Mercenaries or PMCs? They are nothing like those in Hurt Locker or MGS4!
I believe they had the M2 in the last weeks of the war. I know they used the M3, which was an M2 with a bigass night-scope and search light on it.
