Agreed, hitting a target at 100 yards is one thing, and hitting a target at 1000 yards is another thing.

And it was flimsy, awkward to hold due to lack of forward hand grip and huge magazine, and it seems to be stamped and made out of bottom of the barrel materials. Practically all models must be close to the last-ditch batch. The MKb 42 looks more solid than the STG-44.
The Soviet Union was quick to adopt the assault rifle concept. The AK-47 used a similar-sized intermediate round and followed the design concept, but was mechanically different-- from wiki with love.
Source was wiki for the ak-47.
And I don't know about your claim of it being crap materials. I can see this degenerating towards the last few months of the war, but when they were being tested and produced in October - November '43 they were probably imaculate.
And nobody on this forum is a real sniper.
I doubt anyone here could even group at 200 yards.
I can :v: But I was in the Army for a brief period of time. But yeah, most people are like "lololol I shot u at 1000 yards!" but they don't realize a target at 100 yards looks like this.

times that distance by 10, put a man sized target there, then tell me you can pop off a head-shot let alone a body shot.
"The AK-47 is best described as a hybrid of previous rifle technology innovations: the trigger, double locking lugs and unlocking raceway of the M1 Garand/M1 carbine, the safety mechanism of the John Browning designed Remington Model 8 rifle, and the gas system and layout of the Sturmgewehr 44. Kalashnikov's team had access to all of these weapons and had no need to "reinvent the wheel", though he denied that his design was based on the German Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifle"
Where the hell did you read that? The gas system is the same as the Garand, only flipped upside down and simplified, the STG-44 wasn't the first gun to use the long stroke gas piston you know. The layout is an incredibly typical layout, the same layout was used in some prototype SMGs in the 40s, as well as on the PPS-43, developed a whole year before the STG-43 was adopted, and it still isn't even close to the STG-44. Kalashnikov didn't have access to the STG-44 when designing the AK 47, he didn't even look at it beyond seeing a few early prototypes of the rounds that it fired.
I won't deny that the Russians did replicate the concept, that explains their "similar" appearance, but the design of the weapon was in no way influenced by the STG-44.
Show any regular joe who doesn't have great knowledge on firearms a picture of a STG44 and the first thing they will say is "ak47". Look at them side by side and there is obviously a resemblance.
Show any average Joe a VZ 58 and he'll say AK 47, does that mean they're in any way similar besides appearance? No. And furthermore the STG and AK look nothing alike, I have no idea what you've been looking at. The "Average Joe" likens any assault rifle to an AK 47, I have heard many people call M16s AKs and vice versa, that argument proves nothing.
highly crude and unwiedly? how so?
The STG-44 is crude because of the time it was built, from 1943 to 1944 most of Germany's factories were bombed out and they were running low on resources, the gun was built under horrible conditions and was built to be crude. It's unweildy because, well, look at it, it's fucking huge, hard to hold on to, the sights are incredibly high and the handguard heats up after a couple mags. The magazine is also typically the size of a 40 round AK magazine, it's fucking huge, making it impossible to go prone.

Ive actually sort of wanted one of those since I saw an article on one in Guns and Ammo. Pretty cool how you can reload them directly with SKS stripper clips :fuckyou:
I recently got back from a Clay shoot with a few friends, I somehow managed to bruise my shoulder badly. It looks like a brownish purple blotch. Im getting a recoil pad tomorrow. It was mostly my own fault for using a pump that kicks like a mule instead of an under and over, but I got to know the gun well and by sheer stroke of luck came 2nd in the sporting section.
Anybody here Clay shoot?
Semi-autos are best if you don't want to bang up your shoulder... Shotguns that is.
My bolt action 12 gauge recoils worse than some of those safari rifles. Where as my saiga12 you don't even feel much of the recoil, and that's with a steel butt plate.
I beg to differ. The FAL would win any day. The Garand is a nice rifle, but its ammo capacity is a set back. 20 7.62x51 vs. 8 30-30
I've talked to Rhodesian bush vets that have used both FAL and G3 and the general census is that the M14 is the superior of the two.
Also why are you even bringing up K31s and WW2? There is a reason why they are in great shape... Switzerland never fought.

Anyone who likes the rifle should stop playing so much Counter Strike, they aren't allowed to like it.

Incoming sleuth of Mort's weapons in 3... 2... 1...
But bolt action shotguns are used in conjunction with slugs.

They're odd but around.
Correct me if I'm wrong, anybody, but I think they were designed for long range door breaching.

The IDF had rifled slug bolt action shotguns that they shot unrifled sabots out of. They used them to disable cars.
So I finally bought that Mauser I've been salivating over for months. Get to pick it up tomorrow. $190 at Big 5 plus $100 for 340 rounds of Romanian surplus ammo that I ordered online (which came yesterday).

Google Chuck Mawhinney. There is a very famous incident he was involved in with a night-vision-equipped M14.

No, looks like severe blood etching. The thing is probably unsafe to fire.
But it's under 700$.

Speaking of blood etching, when I showed my revolver to a guy to sell, he said someone committed suicide with it.

Mossberg 695.
.....that isn't pitting.
Pitting isn't really a problem bro, it's not like the gun's going to explode if it's a tad pitted, and you aren't going to find one that's not pittted even slightly for that price.
I hate my bolt action 22. so much right now. I just shot at a woodchuck and barely missed but because I had to manualy work the bolt and put a new round in it took too long for a second shot. The whole time I was fumbling with the next round the woodchuck just looked at me then slowly went back into his hole. I'm using my semi-auto from now on.
OR you could aim better.
Well it's a new 22. so I haven't sighted it in yet so I mind as well stick to ol' reliable.
Hey guys!
I will soon be able to own guns (I live in Norway).
I have decided that a double-barreled side by side shotgun is my kind of gun. I have fired a lot of different guns, so I know what I want.
The shotgun will be used for "plinking", or target shooting, but I don't really care about accuracy.
I prefer classic looks, but I don't want to pay much for it.
Any suggestions?

I have an Amadeo Rossi side by side 20 gauge. Out of all 5 of my firearms, it is the most fun to shoot.
Sounds great. What is 20 gauge like? I've fired several 12 gauge shotguns. Is 20 gauge more expensive?
