Question, anybody know where i can get both a side mounted rail/ scope and some decent low magnification/no magnification optics for a Romanian AKM clone(Wasr-10)?
So guys, guess the fuck what. I just got my hands on a free ticket to the NRA convention in Charlotte this weekend, which is only like 20 minutes from my house.
I am so fucking excited.

On the topic of CETMEs,
A lot of you have been trash talking them and telling people to buy PTRs instead. Well let me tell you a little secret hombre...
CETMEs and PTRs are made with the same H&K machines imported from Germany. The build quality on both are fine, and in fact the only thing that makes the CAI CETME a CETME is the Spanish type sight they mount on the receiver. Along with various parts from kits. Other than that the barrels are US made and so are the receivers. The problem isn't the gun itself rather the bolt gap that CAI chose which was less than the bolt gap H&K recommends. Because the bolt gap is too small the firearms tend to wear more quickly. This is solved by purchasing a new bolt that has not been ground down past HK standards. And sometimes these CAI bolts last hundreds if not thousands of rounds.
Its an accurate, cheap (JG sells new ones for $500) and solid rifle. Shelling out for a PTR will get you nothing more than a pretty quality stamp on the mag well, a German rear sight and a bolt with a proper gap.
So stop stompin the CETME. It is what it is.

Wrong. CAI CETMEs are built from CETME parts kits, the receivers are based off of CETME receivers (sometimes made from cast steel though). They use no G3 parts and aren't built on any German machines. Though they are very good rifles, I built mine and I adore it.
And what are you talking about HK preferences? HK has nothing to do with CETMEs, and the bolt gap varies between guns due to the different parts kits, you can't summarize the bolt gap with every gun.
Hadn't been to FP in a while.
Made this. Relevant to redneck edition.

So for my 18th I'm gonna get a Nagant Revolver.
Anyone have any experience with them? Pretty reliable?
Am I the only one who has one hell of a hard time trying to recognise Pistols, I mean, I can probably pick out USPs M9s and Colt .45s but all the rest look exactly the same

Some of the designs are really similar i must admit, but there are differences and subtle details that can give you the right one. Look at mainly the shape of the slide.

only Portuguese (FMP) G3s are built on imported German machinery afaik
also they may be "cheap" at $500 but you burn a dollar for every 2 bullets you shoot

a gimmicky gun imo, there are other better choices out there
aren't nagant revolvers like 2x the price they were now than they were a year or two ago?

JGsales once upon a time was selling them at $80.
No surprise they're all absolutely gone now.

That's just the way it is with all milsurp guns.
Buy them up before they go out of stock. They always vanish and subsequently go up in price.

that's funny I was looking at the same gun not to long ago. Be a fun plinker and home defense if it ever came down to it. That would be my zombie survival gun.
Practically no recoil, high ammo capacity, more quiet then higher calibres, light weight.
The C-96 would be the perfect survival weapon. It has a stock, which also doubles as a holster like on the AR-7, making it much more portable. Bigger round than the henry/AR-7 too.
Probably why they gave them to the Luftwaffe instead of lugers.
Also, can anyome identify this shotgun? Looks badass. Pretty sure it is kitted out and stuff. Not the stock way it comes as.

Cool thread. I just read some of the OP

awwright
Doesn't that beat the purpose of the rifle? I thought the whole thing about the survival rifle was that you could put it in the stock. And it floats.

the one I'm looking at is $80, seems fair enough
I wanted to get a gun but I don't know if I can yet.

Yes, because rare, complicated antique guns are always the best survival guns.

Looks like a Mossberg, maybe a 500?
I like the retro look.

Pic of shotgun*
I've seen one like this. The one I saw that was very similar was a Mossberg 500 cut down to 18" with a tube extension + heatshield above the barrel. Along with a tube mount clamp.
Actually now that I look at the shotgun more It does look like a Remington 870 express. You can usually tell diff between Mossberg and Remington by safety location. Mossberg has it right where the butt stock meets the receiver where as the Remington has it behind the trigger. Since I cant see the top view and see a little peice of metal behind the trigger it leads me to believe it is a left hand safty on the Remington 870. I'm not really good with shotguns but I did a wee bit of research.
