Speaking of this, as .30 carbine as a general use / plinking round, how would you rate it on a scale of 1-10?
probably an 8. The ammo is okay priced, but it's great fun to shoot it. Not too much recoil, but just enough to know that it has kick. It is very controllable in rapid fire.

Get that thing refinished. Those grips are wayyyy to pimpin' to have a rusty cylinder and scuffed barrel.
Shit man, look at that .50 caliber SIXAXIS. Did you get it off the black market?
Shit man, look at that .50 caliber SIXAXIS. Did you get it off the black market?
The most use I've actually ever got out of the thing was propping my guns up on it.

Don't listen to this man, leave it the way it is if you don't want to hurt the value.

How do you know he planned to sell it?

Uhh.. who gives a shit if he wanted to sell it?
Uhh.. who gives a shit if he wanted to sell it?
You said it would hurt the value. I assumed you mean resale value, unless you meant personal value, in which case that's just your opinion.

The fuck you talking about? That looks awesome.

Collectibility, resell, personal, everything. It hurts the overall value of the gun and destroys its history. It doesn't matter if he wants to sell it, eventually it will eventually leave his possession.

I've never heard of another one besides mine, I don't really have any means of valuing it, in terms of money, that is.

Gunbroker.
Anyway it's old, that means you shouldn't mess with it unless you have to.

That was the first place I checked. No luck there.
Collectibility, resell, personal, everything. It hurts the overall value of the gun and destroys its history.
I disagree. I don't really think that refinishing the gun somehow ruins the history. Its not like refinishing somehow makes events that the gun was involved or years that its endured suddenly disappear, its merely a fresh coat of paint. You dont see car collectors driving around rust bucket 1930s Chevys.
And maybe its just because I'm not much of a historical collector, but I would prefer to have a gun that I am buying NOT be covered in scuff marks and rust spots.
In general they're a waste of time and look really stupid, and I've yet to hear of a reliable high cap SKS mag, but whatever.
"Early"? There's Norinco copies, Sino-Soviet and Chinese military Type 56 rifles. The Norincos are the bottom of the barrel, made solely for civilian sales and made very crudely, the Sino-Soviet SKS's are collectible and somewhat well made (for rifles built from parts anyway) these would be what you would consider "early" as they were the first SKS rifles produced by China, and the actual military Type 56s are rather well made, however they are far from the best. A Romanian, Russian, Albanian or Yugo is still your best bet, I'd personally go with Romanian if I was on a budget.
I'd go with the Yugo personally, but that's just me. My dad has a Romanian and I have a Yugo. The added weight on the Yugo gives it a bit more stability, and the rifle grenade / bayonet combo adds some appeal to the weapon for me.
Personal preference and budgets matter of course, but I'm just throwing in my two cents.

Holy shit, since when can the Mexicans make awesome looking modded G36s!?
Edit:
Upon further reading, it actually has none of the patented features of the G36, and isn't internally similar enough to warrant patent infringement. Well played Mexico.

Nice thing about those old revolvers is that you can buy/sell them freely. No background check or anything. Antiques aren't even regarded as firearms by federal law.

Heh, does that mean a 12 year old can get one.
What i really need is a good .308 Rifle that isn't a relic from some war... for long range hunting and such.
Heh, does that mean a 12 year old can get one.
I'm not kidding when I say that yes, a 12 year old can get one.

Frightening
This shows you don't know much. You just called the 7.62x54r an overpowered round with a lot of recoil. The K98 fires an 8x57 which is not only even more overpowered than the 7.62x54r, but also has more recoil. And to be honest, it is not an overpowered rifle. With a bolt action rifle, you usually want a bit more power in it than with a semi-automatic rifle. Obviously being hit with a .223 round will USUALLY take you down when hit in the chest, head, neck, abdomen, anywhere around that area. But being hit with an 8mm or 30-06 in that area will surely bring you down, even if it doesn't kill you it will absolutely knock you on your ass.
Yeah I know I thought of that after I posted, but yes pretty much all of the rifles in WW2 were overpowered. You didn't need that much power behind a bullet, it was just creating uneeded recoil.
And I didn't say the K98 was the best rifle I just like that rifle personally. Best rifle of WW2 in my mind would be the Swiss K31. Everything the K98 was, but better.

ENGLISH laws. British people can't even touch a gun or they get tackled by police.
Atleast here in Canada its the middle of the road. Can pretty much own any gun you want, just need a licence. Theres no CC or OC though which is kinda shitty but whatever I can live with that.
