Speaking of this, as .30 carbine as a general use / plinking round, how would you rate it on a scale of 1-10?
It's awful expensive, but incredibly fun to shoot.
[editline]05:55PM[/editline]
on a scale of 1-10 as far as fun plinking goes, 10.
Price incorporated I give it a 6
[editline]05:56PM[/editline]
The 7.62x39mm is also a fun plinking round.
ENGLISH laws. British people can't even touch a gun or they get tackled by police.
Not correct. Yes, British firearms law is restricting, and certain weapons/types of weapon/ammunition is banned. But, as long as you have the paperwork and a secure place for the gun and ammunition, you can have a gun in the UK. As I said, even kids can have shotgun licenses.
Example, pistols and handguns without along barrel and a stock bring the guns length to 24 inches or above are banned unless you are a vet, police officer, or other exception. Yet, AFAIK pretty much any type of shotgun, bolt action rifle, under lever rifle, or break barrel rifle can be owned legally. As for semi's and automatics, I think they have to be in a certain calibre to be legal and have to be used on a proper rage, such as Bisley. I don't have a licence but I think a basic one or a shotgun licence is fairly easy to acquire. The ones above that though you need to provide an adequate reason to own that particular weapon.
So yes, it is strict, but not completely constricting. Only reason there isn't a large circulation of firearms in the UK is because most people simply don't want one or are happy with their .22 plinkers and shotguns. Hell, as I said, I don't have a licence, yet still quite legally rent and fire off a .22 underlever or a 12 gauge at a range and have done so many times.
UK Gun laws really don't make much sense.
I was reading up on Canadian gun laws and they are sort of vague lol.
Basically it would be illegal for me to carry a pistol in my cars glovebox even if it was unloaded. BUT if I have a revolver that was made 1898 or earlier it is considered an "antique" so therefore I can have it in my glovebox.
So I got to buy some old cowboy peashooter to put in my car :clint:

Thank the IRA and Hungerford for that. My father had to turn in his Luger and Smith and Wesson cos of the IRA and resulting legislation. :(
Maybe they make more sense living here :P

What? If I had a legitimate Luger I would never turn it in. Just hide it in your house, not like they are gonna come searching for you
This was back in the 70's. So I don't know exactly was going down. Back in the early 70's my dad had a job doing removals, he cleared out the house of an old soldier who had passed away and he found 3 pistols. He kept for a few years then had to turn them in. I wish he hadn't as well but this was 20 years before my time so not alot I could do lol.

Actually that can be quite a roadblock. 100+ year old guns are often very expensive or in too poor a shape to be fired or aren't designed to fire smokeless ammo or were built around an ammunition that's been obsolete and out of production since the 20's.

I just used this Model 97 Trenchgun to do away with a skunk that wandered into the back yard, much to the appreciation of the neighbors and their dogs. File this under "Super Redneck Edition".

Anyway, is there a .50cal submachine gun?
none of you fucking dumbasses better refinish anything older than 35 years old don't listen to anyone that tells you to do this
unless your gun is literally rusted shut or the barreled action was buried in a leaky barn for 60 years
[editline]01:51AM[/editline]
I disagree. I don't really think that refinishing the gun somehow ruins the history. Its not like refinishing somehow makes events that the gun was involved or years that its endured suddenly disappear, its merely a fresh coat of paint. You dont see car collectors driving around rust bucket 1930s Chevys.
And maybe its just because I'm not much of a historical collector, but I would prefer to have a gun that I am buying NOT be covered in scuff marks and rust spots.
mite be a clu

There is an upper for an AR-15 type weapon chambered for the .50 Beowulf. But I don't call that a submachine gun. That's like.. sub-assault rifle.. but not really.

Thread is now about deagles with gold plating and tigerstripes.
surely you can make your own AR upper that fires .50 GI
but that's getting into a territory where anything is technically possible, so does it really "count" if it isn't commercially made?

lolwtf u talking about, deh army could just bui thm at the strat of the round in the buymneu lol
Edit:
By the way, Im going to buy an issued Garand and get it refinished with a Realtree stock. Just to make all of you "historical collectors" heads explode.
Edit:
Also, could one of you explain to me why you would rather have a scuffed up, rusty gun than a nice looking refinished one? As I said before, its not like the history magically disappears after you gen the gun refinished.
and FMJ rownds

You have to have a valid reason to own a gun in the UK, self defence doesn't count so it has to be work related (farming etc)
