Frankly they shouldn't even be that damn expensive, it's idiotic. The 1986 "Firearms Owner's Protection Act" should be repealed as it's a blatant violation of the second amendment as well as a complete waste of time and money, as it has accomplished nothing but send innocent people to jail.
It was voted on in Congress by aural vote, there were more people voting no than yea, and the Speaker of the House declared it passed.
your not serious are you? an automatic weapon is nothing like a sports car. Sure I love guns and i'm currently serving in my country's reserve guard, but an automatic weapon is absolutely lethal in the hands of someone with an intention to use it. People argue that "oh in semi you can press the trigger fast" or "all guns are lethal" Take it this way: The styer AUG can fire 700 rounds a minute, meaning it can empty a magazine of 30 rounds in a few seconds (We had to know the ins and outs of this weapon in training) imagine your AR15 or Scar or whatever the fuck you use, on automatic blazing away in the hands of some poor soul who has murder on his mind. That my friends is why it's banned. And this whole government should fear the state thing is a bit extreme. You want the government to be afraid of it's people because they are armed to the teeth? thats not a country I would live in. Your country (America I presume,) built itself on democracy and the right to freedom, not the populace holding the government with weapons. Face it you said it yourself, you don't need automatic weapons, also another point: You don't want law enforcement officers and military personnel under-gunned by civilians, it can lead to tragedy on both sides.
I did not even refernece a sports car. Also Even if you outlaw automatic weapons the gangbangers are still going to have them. And are you trying to tell me that our constitution is wrong for want the people to be in control and not have a tyranical government? I won't even debate with you on this because you need to learn some American history before you have adequate knowledge of our Constitution and the beliefs of freedom instilled in it.
I did not even refernece a sports car.
I did earlier when BrickInHead stated that automatics shouldn't be owned by civilians because they serve no practical purpose.
The only real notable shootout with automatic weapons ended in no deaths (besides that of the shooters), there were injuries yes, but out of the thousands of bullets fired no one died. This was the North Hollywood Shootout by the way and it happened after the ban on automatics.
Prohibition works so well eh?
so op liking all the info but we dont use "gunpowder" made of the materials that u listed weve upgraded to smokeless propelent such as Nitroglycerin
I have an M14A1 and an M1 Garand, the M1 was used in WW2 and Korea, It is awesomeness but has a really hard kick
The M14 has a smaller kick and I can do rapid trigger pulling and still hit the hundred yard target with it every time

Speak for yourself, some of us still use the old willow tree to fire our guns.
when I saw that the thread had 86 new posts, I somehow knew that it'd be a goofy discussion instead of something interesting.
OP - why is usp not instant kill in cs :(
I've been considering looking into a handgun that I could carry for personal defense and deterrence. My grandfather carries a Glock 17(?), I believe, and I'd like to have a small caliber handgun as well some day when I work my way to getting my license to carry.
Can the firearms thread make two recommendations for me? I'm looking for one small caliber handgun for personal defense and deterrence purposes, and possibly something that's enjoyable to shoot at a range.
The only firearm I own is a small Marlin .22LR rifle. I mainly use it for target shooting in my back yard... so one can see how I'm ignorant in the department of handguns.
Any suggestions?
obviously a gold plated desert eagle in .50 AE
on a more serious note, .38 revolver like a taurus 85
You should look around and see what you can find locally first, pick a handgun you feel comfortable with and then ask for advice before buying it.
Can anyone recommend a good "starter" pump action shotgun which will just be used for shooting skeet and target shooting?
A Remington 870 would be my personal preference. However, if you really can't afford one you can always buy something along the lines of this: http://www.impactguns.com/store/845503000016.html
A Remington 870 clone. The Shotgun I posted however, would probably only be used for Target shooting, for skeet shooting you'd want a longer barreled shotgun.
If you still need something cheaper, or you want the longer barreled shotgun as I stated, I would go for a "Maverick" A Maverick is Mossbergs low-end shotguns. They're still nice though.

I seriously wouldn't go with a Taurus. They're a respectable brand, they're just on the cheap side of respectable IMO. I would go with something like a Ruger SP101 in .357, considering you can load it with .357 or .38.

Glock 19 (shorter barrel than the 17) and a Walther P22 or Sig Mosquito for a nice .22 semi-auto pistol...

My new browning buckmark .22 semi-automatic handgun.
I love guns baby I love guns/
am i the only one that loves the M1 Grand + Colt .45 1911 Combo?
i love m1, dont have a pistol license though
I seriously wouldn't go with a Taurus.
I have to disagree here. I've had a Taurus PT1911 for almost a year now and it's fucking awesome. It needs to be cleaned and greased badly, but it will still cycle an entire magazine flawlessly when shooting. No so however when manually cycling. That's my fault though; I really need to clean it and I feel bad for procrastinating. I should say though, it doesn't take much to keep it lubed. I had more problems with over lubricating than I did under lubing. It's pretty light for a 1911 too.
Taurus do a nice M92 pistol clone too I believe. It's very popular in BR land.

Am I the only one that thought this post was fishy?
The M14A1 is a select-fire model. I highly doubt you have one, but if you do, pic with timestamp and you will be my new best friend.
As for rapid firing, how big is the target? That shit is hard even with a .223.

Love the looks, would take them to the range, would never take them together to combat. Too much weight between a dozen en bloc clips of 30.06 and handful of .45ACP magazines. Rather just carry more .30 ammo.

No. Seen the new Remington 1911?
No. Seen the new Remington 1911?
Oh god it looks sexy.
Great price too.
I want a tactical shotgun.
Also, i wouldn't mind a Glock 22.
Sadly i will have to dream of both for a while.
I don't know that i will be getting rich enough for that kind of spending any time soon.

Yeah, the PT92. I'm in a raffle to win one actually, signed up at a gunshow last week. I know I won't win it but I would love to have it.
Looking at the sights of the K98 makes me rage at DFS for using diopter sights. There's no lines so it's really hard to use for beginners, as you don't really know if they(two rings) are lined up correctly. :frown:
