Why bother banning something that has never caused any major problems to speak of?
The worst that's happened is Prohibition Era violence and that was resolved by making alcohol legal again.
Your logic is bullshit and yes it is generalizing because you basically say every person who has one is going to start spraying at criminals like they're Rambo.
You're using the "What if" argument that gets people nowhere, you can't give out substantial evidence so you start making up bullshit scenarios that make it seem like you actually have a valid point.
There are very dumb people in the world. I can totally see some lady getting shit scared at an attacker and opening up a volley of automatic fire at him. A semi automatic weapon forces you to take aim and be more careful. And of course it has never caused a problem, automatic weapons aren't legal.

Errr, just because they aren't legal doesn't make them less dangerous or available.
Also automatic fire is really hard to kill with. If you've ever shot something in fully automatic, or even burst, it is really hard to get a decent grouping.

If you don't know the laws don't bother arguing about them.
They've been legal in the US since they were first made. They've only been regulated since 1937.
Yes there are stupid people out there, but in the 100 or so years these weapons have been around I've yet to see an example of what you said happening so I have no reason to believe it will happen any time soon, full legalization or not.
Also you act like you can't spray and pray with a semi automatic weapon.
"YEAH BUT WHAT IF MAN WHAT IF"
Automatic weapons should be banned for Civi use. And no you crazies, your government isn't going to try to kill you. Jeez.
Semi autos and shotguns are perfect for self defence use. The last thing we need is people buying automatics and spraying at a criminal while hitting 5 people behind their target.
You're generalizing, while I don't support wide ownership of automatic weapons I don't want to see it banned for many reasons. You're whole spiel about automatic weapons being wildly uncontrollable and indiscriminate, you've obviously never shot an automatic before and obviously don't realize if used properly can be accurate enough to hit the intended target at self defense ranges. I don't propose using one for self defense but it could be. Shotguns are just as indiscriminate with less control over the spread of the shot and you're touting that as a great self-defense weapon. I'm not even going to go into over-penetration of different bullets on different targets.
Ok seriously. I didn't generalize in my post. I just contributed to the thread. Why so hostile man? Calm down sparky. I'm just putting my point out there.
Yes, you did. And no you did not contribute to the thread we had this exact same discussion in which everyone said their point and yours was one of them, now you're just reiterating what was already said in the vain attempt to make some sort of conversation. You're just beating a dead horse here.

Actually, automatic weapons ARE legal in this country. They are owned by many people. But they are very expensive, and require traversing the magical land of red tape in order to own them. An average person isn't going to spend the time or the money to get class 3 weapon (that is what they are) when they can quickly and cheaply buy a semi-automatic handgun. People who DO buy class 3 weapons are usually well versed in weapons and know better than to freak out and react poorly when using them.
All you're saying is "Im not infringing on your rights, but you shouldn't be able to own those."
Okok, How about a trench gun as first weapon?

Well if you can manage to get a Class 3 license of course you could buy automatics, but any bimbo can get a gun license. And I'm not sure I trust said bimbo with an automatic G18.

Seriously, stop trying to make a point about the laws if you don't know them. You don't need a "class 3 license" to own class 3 weapons.
"What if a BABY got the gun? OH NO THINK ABOUT IT! BAN BAN BAN!"

If you knew anything about firearms, you would know that a semi-automatic firearm is just as dangerous as a fully automatic one.
The process of getting a fully automatic firearm in the US is also a massive ordeal that is almost never taken on by anyone that wishes to use the weapon for illegitimate reason. The very VERY few fully automatic weapons used in crimes (IE: North Hollywood bank robbery, Waco) were all illegally modified to be fully auto.
So in short, banning legally procured fully automatic weapons would be a stupid and pointless endeavor that would only serve to take guns away from responsible gun owners and collectors.

Glock 18s are post May 1986, so only certain dealers can own them. Individuals cannot.

What's so dangerous about an automatic weapon compared to a regular weapon?
Nothing. It's a firemode, not a killswitch for everyone on the city block.
Do you even know how you operate an automatic weapon? No one "sprays into the crowd".

Lol gun license.
Lol gun license.
It is sort of a license, not exactly though. It isn't hard to obtain one at all if your record is perfectly clean though. However you have to pay HUGE tax per year for it.
You don't even need one to own Automatic Weapons. That is what I found amusing.

I assume you're talking about automatic weapons.
You don't need any sort of license for a regular firearm in the US.
A Class 3 license is only for dealers, and using a Class 3 license to buy restricted firearms for yourself is actually illegal.
To buy an automatic for personal ownership you need to find a Class 3 dealer, have a lot of money, a lot of patience and hope the Sheriff agrees to sign an approval for the gun.

I think you're wrong.
It may differ state to state though don't quote me on it...
I may be wrong too but that's what I've heard of it and read about it. The gun only needs to be registered to you by legal transfer.

I have the police version of that, it's a winchester model 1897.
I like my 97, wouldn't trade it for any other shotgun, the external hammer is a lot handier than you'd think. They do have quite a kick thanks to their small size and light weight though.
The fuck does a civilian need a full-auto weapons for?
There really isn't any sporting usage for them, if you look at youtube for full-auto MG shooting, all they really do is shoot in some ditch towards some sand barrier.
Collecting purposes aside though.

Yeah i love mine too, although I seldom fire it, its a piece of Irish history as my gun was stolen from the British police during the 1921 Irish war of independence and used by the old IRA, still has the police markings on it, the lack of safety catch is also interesting and slightly dangerous, you have to bring the hammer back half way and then push it forward.

thats not my one, although thats what it looks like on the stock, RIC stands for Royal Irish Constabulary.

Where is the evidence to support the government banning them?
Where in the constitution does it give the Federal government the right to ban them?
I'm fine with requirements for fully automatic weapons, but banning them is a blatant violation of the second amendment.
The first engagement of the revolutionary was was because the brits were trying to destroy a weapon stockpile. That weapon stockpile included CANNONS. The second amendment didn't provide any stipulations. There was no "but" or "except" included that explained what weapons were and were not allowed.
"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
infringed: To encroach on someone or something.
Encroach: To take another's possessions or rights gradually or stealthily
It's pretty cut and dry.
Again I don't have a problem with limitations, even though they too are technically illegal, but this bullshit where nobody can transfer ones made after 1986 and the government will make your life a living hell just for owning one, is utterly and completely ridiculous.

You DO need one for a full auto, a short barreled weapon, or a supressor. It's $200, and its a one-time fee. Some states do not allow ownership, or, like Washington, you can own it, but you can't shoot it.:fuckyou:

Why does it need to have a sporting purpose? The 2nd Amendment isn't about hunting. It's about personal defense. The vast vast majority of gun owners do not use them for hunting, and aside from putting bullets into people who attack them, they shoot them at ranges, which usually involved shooting into a berm...

Never say this on this board. Ever.
You will get several typical responses from people who do not understand / do not even live in the US.
1. Hurr hurr just call the police if you get attacked.
2. Herp derp get an alarm system in your home.
3. LOL GET A DOG!
4. Guns are bad if you do not have a gun then they wont shoot you. :(
It goes on and on...

I feel it's kinda stupid to just "shoot" without having any target so you could actually see if you hít jack shit, but if repeated recoil makes you happy, whatever man.
A class 3 license != Regular gun license.
There isn't a "regular gun license" and a class 3 is for dealers only.
You don't need a license for automatic weapons. You need money and a tax stamp (which costs more money).
You sure as hell don't need a license for regular weapons.

Controlled fucking bursts.
Do you realize how accurate a medium/heavy machine gun is?
