You do know Russian AK's are $1,500 to $2,000 a pop right? You most likely are being offered a Polish AK which looks very similar.
And if it is a Russian Ak-47 which works perfectly fine well who cares! I'm still just going to use it for target practice, and stuff. As well as learn how it works so someday I could try to make my own.
You are most likely getting ripped off man. You sound like the sort who couldn't ever tell, so.
And I couldn't think of a reason for there to be a semi-auto AK in the 60s.
It could be built off of a 1960 parts kit. However those are HIGHLY collectible.

Because it's illegal to own an Ak-47 which is full auto...?
It's been modded to be legal in America.

I'm just saying, do your research before you end up getting ripped off. A $300 Russian AK from 1960 is very, very fishy.
If you can get me some pictures I can help you figure out exactly what it is.

*cough*
Actually... The story he gave me is that it was bought from a Russian Seller who bought it from an Armory shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union. They recently constructed it with a few mods of legal parts, and yeah....
** states with strict gun laws
He's most likely talking about a parts kit gun, transferable AK 47s are very rare and most are not Russian.
** states with strict gun laws
Arizona. The most lenient state in the South West.

So parts kit. That's how the parts kits came into the US.

I'll talk to him about getting a few pics cause at the same time of me trying to figure out is nationality I need to convince my dad it's not an Ak-47U
So parts kit. That's how the parts kits came into the US.
Probably. I'm truly not sure, but $300 sounds like a good deal too me.
I'll talk to him about getting a few pics cause at the same time of me trying to figure out is nationality I need to convince my dad it's not an Ak-47U
All right. Not trying to be an ass or anything, it's just that a $300 Soviet AK is unheard of these days. If it is really Russian, you struck gold, if not, still not a bad deal IF and ONLY IF it works and is legal.
Ask him for pictures of the left side, close ups of any markings on the left side and pictures of the serial numbers (not all of them, just some of the more prominent ones, on the bolt, on the top cover, etc).
Because it's illegal to own an Ak-47 which is full auto...?
No it's not.
They'd make a lot more money if they kept it automatic.
Arizona. The most lenient state in the South West.
Fuck yes, fellow Arizonan. Fist-pound :v:
oo, hows that taurus 1911 treat you? i was thinking about a 1911 after my 92f
Very well. It's a low maintenance gun, pretty light, feels nice in my hand, sights come set pretty well out of the box.
If it WAS full auto, and converted to semi, that is still a no go. As far as the ATF is considered, once a machinegun, always a machinegun.
No it's not.

No they wouldnt. If it wasnt registered with the ATF in May of 1986, it is illegal to be owned in the USA.

Missed that part.
That's also a stupid fucking law, there's no difference from a pre and post 1986 machine gun.
Also, I'm looking for a semi auto Sterling, can be an authentic one or repro, doesn't matter to me. I've been looking on Gunbroker and all I see are Century Arms imports. I don't trust CA. If anyone could recommend me a site to check out, I'd appreciate it.

Guess I'll be able to register as a Manufacturer/dealer then :v:

Then I'll be all like, EMM-FOUR BITCHEZZZ to those that wave their AR-15's around :v:
Does the 91/30 kick as bad as the M44? I've seen some fucked up shit from those carbines, but never actually fired a nagant (as crazy as that sounds. Though i'm planning on buying one eventually.)
Post your moderns too.
The M44 has noticeable recoil over the 91/30. It also creates one hell of a fireball.
Both guns are fun to shoot though. Recoil does not bother me at all like it used to when I first started shooting years ago. So, I honestly can not tell you if it is a bother or not.
The longer and heavier 91/30 compensates for the recoil of the round, though. It has less 'kick' than the 44.
If you want to buy one, I suggest buying one sooner than later. I bought my M44 for 70 bucks. I bought my 91/30 a couple years ago for 85. They are very cheap...however slowly increasing in price.
Which reminds me, I should have picked up those British No.4 rifles a few years ago when they were only 99 bucks...Something I regret not buying right there.
