Do note that is 7.62x39, just sayin'
I'd recommend a Kongsberg or Steyr manufactured Krag-Jørgensen. 6.5x55 is an excellent caliber in my opinion.
Except ammo is rare and expensive.
6.5x55 rare? Expensive?
Seems like the yankees are too goddamn much in love with their .223, in Scandinavia 6.5x55 is the cheapest rifle caliber and one of the most common (.308 and 30-06 are more common iirc due to being hunting rounds)
Which state are you in?
Because the legal age is 21 almost everywhere and then you're SOL (you can buy Shotguns and rifles at 18 though), unless you get your parent to buy and hand it down to you.
Aren't you allowed to buy handgruns at 18 if its from a private sale? I believe you have to be 21 to buy handguns from businesses (pawn shops, gun stores)
But if you can buy it from the average joe, you can just be 18.
Ad least, i think you can. I recall being told this while i was at a gun show a year back or so.

I live in kansas, so the laws here might be different.
So guys, I'm wondering what I should get as my first rifle (already have a shotgun). I was thinking about an AK or maybe an SKS or maybe some type of bolt action (about $600 - $700 budget). Only thing is, I was thinking about trying to get a gun that uses a calibre that is very common and relatively cheap. Any suggestions?
hmm well IMO might as well get as much as you can with what you have. You could most likely end up with 3 guns for $700. A nugget, an SKS, and maybe a WASR. that'd be cutting it close money wise though, and you'd have no ammo for any of the guns lol.
Or you could buy a vz.58 for $600 and I could live out my "most wanted gun" through you.

I love the Vz
Ever since I held one, i've wanted one like this:

In theory, isn't it more accurate than the Ak because of the way it operates?
I really don't like the dustcover on the Vz, esthetically.
Seems like a lot of shit could get in though the top too.
Seems like a lot of shit could get in though the top too.
not really. And the gun has a high tolerance for dirt and whatnot there was a series of pics with some guy throwing his vz.58 in the dirt and stuff and firing it after, etc
Got a glock G20C last week. I installed the new ameriglo "hack" sights on it.
Loaded up with doubletap 180gr noslers, 16 rounds on tap.

They're really nice.
Alright Firearm lovers, I'm looking to maybe buy a handgun. First gun ever. I just turned 18 (and don't know shit about guns). What should I look at buying? Laugh at me, but I'd love to get a Smith & Wesson Model 29.
Gotta be 21 according to federal law, man. Sorry.
HOWEVER, unless you live in a stupid state like MD, you aren't restricted from buying semi-auto variants of military-purposed rifles.

Anyone got a Star Megastar 10mm? I'm looking into getting one, but they're hard to find.

I've heard some real good things about them.

You have to be 21 to purchase a handgun from a licensed FFL dealer, but you can posses a handgun at 18.

I'd have little to no interest in a 10mm unless it was a poly frame gun. When you go nuclear with an auto-loader in an all steel frame, they don't last long. My kimber in 460 rowland loosened its self up rather fast and I had to do a slide pinch on it.

I've put ~2,500 rounds through my CZ-97B without any kind of loosening.
I BLAME THE STURDY EASTERN EUROPEAN CONSTRUCTION.
What would you guys say to each countries weapons
I'd say:
Russia/Soviet Union: Most Rugged and long lasting
USA: Most Tactic00l
UK: Bolt Action, Bolt Action everywhere
German: Best Engineered

Russia/Soviet Union: Durable, reliable. Accuracy varies, but most are good enough. Most of my favorite arms are Eastern European.
USA: A bit lacking in durability, frame-wise, but god damn, we've got accessories out the ass. Accuracy is definitely good.
UK: Thanks for the AWM and the AS-50. Now GET OUT.
German: Overpriced elitist bullshit, nowadays. I have a k98k, but that's the only German weapon I'll ever own. (HURR DURR I'M H&K AND I SELL PRACTICALLY NO CIVILIAN VARIANTS OF ANY OF MY RIFLES)

I'd say your little comparisons are retarded.
Always hate stupid comparisons with stuff like that. Most of the time people just spewing biased un-cited crap.
no offense bro

Yes sir I did
Can somebody here suggest me a .22 rifle? My budget is around 400€ and I'd use it for target shooting.

depends if your doing competition or not, they generally don't come cheap. Where are you in Europe?
Finland.
And I wouldn't use it in competitions.
Finland.
I reckon you could pick up a nice CZ .22 Delux bolt action for say 395, if your lucky. It's a good starting rifle.

I've shooted with a .22 CZ, it worked quite well. Also one site is selling a .22 Henry for 350€, would that be any good?
Lever action eh? I can't really say as I never fired one, but if you want something with a western feel go for it.

If you can get semiautos, get a 10/22.

What brand of ammo do you feed it?
The only hot 10mm out there is from a few very very small companies I doubt you've even heard of. Anything you can buy at the store is going to be loaded as weak as 40S&W.

Complete bullshit.
Russia: Can be good, but "quality control" isn't in their vocabulary. And 99% of the times you wouldn't know a true russian gun if it shot you in the face.
USA: We build it because we can't import it.
UK: We ban it.
German: The US makes sigs better than we do, and H&K won't sell civilians anything more than a fancy hunting rifle.

Who the hell uses hot loads on 10mm?! It's fucking 10mm! It's a .45 round moving at 9mm velocities!
