Appreciate the input.
I'm not going to lie, it's creepy as hell to have such arguments in another forum, and we have a polite and informational discussion in this one...
yeah lol
it's up to you though. I don't have any experience with Sigs. all I have is a glock 19, and it suits my needs fine.
if i was going to waste money on a glock i'd just get a 21 and a .50 GI conversion kit for overkill

Ballistics on the GI aren't too great, .45 might be more practical to be honest but it's still an advantage.
Anyone selling a Barret 50., I need it so I can kill deer.
yes, I know my M14 will do fine, but because of the frustrating number of times dear have eaten my garden, I really want to watch one's body go splatter
Honestly I would take a Sig over a Glock any day, Glocks are just impossible for me to operate comfortably, the shitty slide release is way too thin for me to use and they're just overly bulky and hard to carry. I still like them for what they are, but they leave a lot to be desired. Sigs, on the other hand, are just fucking awesome.

If you've got 4000$ to spare, sure.
Not including the ammunition, optics, or means of storage.

Somehow I doubt you actually own firearms, or ever have.
thats the joke
There was a Mosin Nagant at a gunshow I was at for 45$, in good arsenal refinish condition with all the trimmings (bayonet, tools).
I almost bought it but someone else got it first :saddowns:

lol what advantage?
Having to pay like $2 a round?
may be a neat round just to shoot one time but as a calibre you want .50GI shouldn't be it.
A guy is offering me a Sig P228 9mm in trade for my Glock...but it's an older model, which means it won't feed hollow points reliably without a new barrel.
Also only comes with two mags....I'd have to trade him this. What say you, Facepunch?
[img_thumb]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b100/89Sunbird/Shooting/Dsc_0006-1.jpg[/img_thumb]
(Also, it doesn't have a rail)
Trading a glock for a sig would be stupid unless you're just a gun collector.
Functionality/Practicallity wise glocks are a better gun. Sigs have a hell of a lot more time and effort in their manufacturing but, that doesn't mean much when someone makes a better design. I've got a sig P226 platinum elite, and I greatly prefer my glocks.

It's underpowered. A properly designed 45 will out perform it. Stop looking at those specs sheets and use sectional density as a factor.
You want raw power from a glock, get a 10mm.
The reason I bought my P6 back then was I really wanted a pistol with an external hammer...
But I'm thinking about holding onto the Glock...I've done some work to it, I've already got a shit ton of mags for it, and new ones are about half the price of Sig's...

Until you take it backpacking in the mountains, and come home to find it covered in rust.
If you're going to buy a sig always just get a used and abused one. The finish doesn't last very long, and their resale value is pretty low.

Exactly. And those sig magazines are honestly shitty.
Glock gives people a far better gun for the money than what everyone thinks. If a glock was $1000, it'd probably be held in that kind of super high regard as well.
I went to a gun shop today, found a world war 2 era M1 Carbine for $280. I wish I could've gotten it :frown:
Borrow some money. That is less than half what M1 carbines are going for.

Eh, while I respect the weapon's accuracy and reliability, I can't see how anyone can hold a stock Glack to such high regards.

You probably saw a shitty universal carbine.
Just fired the glock 32 for the first time. I had my knuckle up to high when I was gripping it and the slide came back and cut me up.
Sorry if this is horribly rude/against the rules, but I'm looking for carbine advice for a game I am designing. I feel like I'm relying too much on H&K weapons and AR-15 variants and I'm wondering if there are any interesting contemporary carbines (prototypes are totally kosher as well) I'm missing.
This is the list so far:

I figure you all would be good to ask. My apologies if this offends anyone's sensibilities or is weaboo-tastic or something. For what it's worth, I really enjoy firing a 1911 at the range I go to every couple weeks, if it helps :allears:

I'm drawing a blank.
I'll look into more later and try to dig up some modern carbines you don't have

It isn't exactly a military weapon, but the Mini-14 maybe? I believe they make a select fire variant with a name I can't be bothered to remember.
There is the AC-556 which is the militarized variant of the Mini-14. Nice, thank you!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC-556#AC-556
What redundant carbine should I remove from the list then?
Oh, and if anyone has more suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Just try to include the barrel length and muzzle velocity if you can because I can't always find them online. And the more recent, the better. I'm going for mostly modern/near-future firearms, but I don't mind some Vietnam-era weaponry though; it also fits in with the setting. The same goes for prototypes and canceled projects.
Once I'm finished with the entire list, I'll post it for the same reason as the carbines: to weed out redundant firearms and put in more interesting/better ones. I'd love any and all input.
I can't see anything that doesn't exactly belong.
Hm, I think I'll take out the SR-16. I don't think anyone's going to miss another M4 variant :)
If anyone wants to see the list so far, here's the link:

Out of personal firearms, I've still got light machine guns, shotguns, handguns, and sniper rifles left. And I'm aiming for 15 firearms in each category. As stated above, I'd love any suggestions in terms of taking out redundant weapons and putting in interesting ones.
Well for shotguns, you'll need the Remington 870, Mossberg 500, Benelli M2/M4, Ithaca 37, and Saiga 12 to name a few.

it's like a smaller G3

Ditch one of the G36's, it looks nice, but the difference between the two is so insignificant that it'll just look bad, keep the K, ditch the C, it's less common. Same goes for the MK.18 and the M4A1, they're nearly identical.
Also, look into the FNC, its pretty interesting.
Star Baikal? I already have the Saiga in there :)
And I want to have a H&K LMG in there that uses 7.62x61mm cartridges. And the Degtyarov MG is a little bit out of the scope for the setting :(

I already have the HK53, which is a much smaller carbine (211mm vs 390/332mm barrel length) based off of the HK33. I chose the HK53 because I think the smaller length fills in a nice niche along with the AKS-74U and SG-552 among the carbines.
I need 4 more shotguns...Any ideas for contemporary(ish) military shotguns?
And the Degtyarov MG is a little bit out of the scope for the setting :(
So your going for the barely futuristic, "It wont fit unless it has rails covering every fucking inch of the gun" approach?
So your going for the barely futuristic, "It wont fit unless it has rails covering every fucking inch of the gun" approach?
Other than Somalian militia, who has been using the Degtyaryov in the last 30 years? It was replaced by the Russians themselves in the 1950's and replaced completely in the 1960's.
I mean, I didn't put an M1 Garand in the list even though I love that weapon.
