I know you might be thinking "Oh what a dumbass, that destroys a rifle like that", but about that Krag, it was delivered to my teacher (who is a gunsmith aswell) for destruction anyways.
You still blew up a fuckin' Krag >:|
Here in Norway there are alot of Krags, heck, I got 2 of my own.
Damn it, I could use an AMT Hardballer right now.
Also anyone care to explain what a Krag is?

US bolt action rifle that predated the M1903.

Pretty awesome magazine design too, you could just shove cartridges in to the magazine and it would chamber the rounds correctly.
Krags are extremely comfortable to shoot IMO.
Reminds me of a Musket... :raise:
That's the US version in .30-40 . The original design is in 6.5x55.
Unfortunately, I don't have the original stocks for any of my Krag rifles as both of mine has been sporterized. But the reciever on my oldest is marked 1895, while the other is marked 1940. Both are Norwegian produced.

Yes, they are, the 1896 Steyr produced Krag is still preferred by some shooters due to it's extremely smooth action.

Good luck finding one, they don't make em no more.

I don't know why, but I think capsule magazines like that are awesome. Biggest disadvantage for me is that it's extremely difficult to find speedloaders wich sometimes can be a bitch when shooting the Stang excercise (only hit or no hit, the purpose is to hit the target as many times as possible within a set amount of time)

the new Uzi, looks very sci-fi.
sure that's not just a riced up mac 10?
Here in Norway there are alot of Krags, heck, I got 2 of my own.
It always makes me sad to hear this.
I would love a Krag, American or otherwise. but here, anyone I can find are upwards of $2000, and even finding them is hard.
I paid $80 for my oldest Krag :v:
So, Luger or Ruger?
The Luger is a cool gun, Ruger is from what I've seen hit and miss, somethings work, others don't. I'd go for a Luger, but that's because I'm a German engineering fanboy.
But if you like aftermarket stuff, I bet there's more for the Ruger, depending on what kind of Ruger you are getting, is it an SP-9? Blackhawk? 10/22? Mini-14?
So, Luger or Ruger?
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
What are you comparing? The P08 and the Mark II?

They look the same, so maybe he believes that they're the same on the inside.

Not really.

I keep forgetting that it's a Norwegian rifle. Every time I think of it I think of US use.

oh my godddddddddddd
6.5 Swede is an awesome round.
They look the same, so maybe he believes that they're the same on the inside.
They do look similar in their handles, but they're really different in terms of function and caliber.
The Luger is in 9mm, the Ruger is in .22
oh my godddddddddddd

Yeah, and I still don't get why the US wanted it in .30-40 instead of 6.5x55
Hello there, gun nerds. I have just recently begun looking into automatic weapons and shooting them. What automatic rifle do you guys recommend as a first gun? My budget is about 500 dollars. I have about a year of experience in shooting bolt action rifles, semi-automatics and pistols.
A used Ruger Mini-14 maybe? A guy in my class has one and he hasn't had any trouble with it yet.

They're not, but I am thinking about moving to the states :)

Thank you, Campin Carl. Can you link me any websites where I can buy the Mini-14?

Good luck finding a legal automatic for 500 bucks, the cheapest automatic I found was about $5k.
sure that's not just a riced up mac 10?
The receiver is too short for it to be a mac-10.
I was saying, I can't decide between a Ruger Mk. II or III or a Luger P08.

By the way, the Mini-14 is a semi-automatic, just so you know. Only site I know of immediately is Gunbroker.com
Also, I wouldn't recommend a fully automatic for a first gun, simply because they are so goddamn expensive and if you break it, parts may be expensive. Get rather a simple bolt-action or a semi-auto for a first gun.
Don't know yet, I finished building it this morning and still need to drill the touch hole. A task made infinitely more difficult because the shitty shit drill bit I was using broke off inside, so I now I either have to get some super insane drill bits to drill through the broken one or make a really big hole and put a liner in.
Usually stuck bits can be drilled out pretty easily.

They're vastly different things that are in vastly different categories and reasons why you would buy one.

Well, if they're really as expensive as Zombiefreak said, I might buy a semi-auto instead. Also, is there any guarantee that the guns on Gunbroker are not broken or bad quality?
