Thanks for answering my questions.
So the lootboxes are fair game.
Yes based on what information we know about them.
Conveniently leaving out the rest of my post doesn't make you right.
Don't need to answers things that are obvious.
Because it is primarily a MP game.
Hey, remember how Battlefront 2004 only gave you one starter weapon for each class and you could only play a select amount of single player missions per 18 hour span and unlocking the rest required you to either bide your time or purchase loot-crates
OH WAIT Battlefront 2004 didn't have any of that! You had everything right from the start! It's almost like multiplayer-centric games don't need "incentives" if they're good! Dare I say, it's almost like buying a premium price for a game should get you everything in it! Would you fucking look at that.
this game deserves to fail but its star wars so nerds will eat it up

Every MP game these days has some sort of progression. It helps retain players as it gives them something to work for. If there wasn't any levelling they would drop off.
I'm sure in ten years when the game has had two other sequels and the multiplayer has died out people will be really glad they can't play the singleplayer arcade mode as much as they want to as the game still asks them to spend money on lootcrates.

You can keep playing arcade, you just don't get anymore credits after 5 matches.

They don't lock gameplay related shit behind random lootboxes though. This is one of first """premium""" games to do so in a competitive multiplayer.

I thought one of the COD games had boxes?

The crate system sucks, and I wish it would go away.
Progression doesn't have to be timegated. Progression doesn't have to be softlocked behind lootcrates. Progression doesn't have to be a soul-crushing RNG-fueled grind.
Call of Duty's MP modes were doing fine without any of this shit for 8 whole years before Activision decided to start and shoehorn Lootcrates in there too. And guess what, big surprise, the games were worse for having lootboxes in them.
If you hate the crate system so fucking much why are you licking its ass so hard ?
I thought one of the COD games had boxes?
Oh so it's okay if somebody else fucks random people in the ass first.
Gotcha.
progression isn't time gated, and not everything is in the boxes, the most powerful stuff is locked behind challanges, some stuff is unlocked via levelling.

I didn't say that. I was asking a question.

Then why did you even bring this up? I never said it's the first """premium""" game to do so, I said it's one of the first. "Who's on first" is completely irrelevant here.
If you can only get credits five times a day from playing missions then progression is time-gated.
If the majority of content is put behind loot-crates but you can still unlock the rest on a technicality then it's soft-locked in lootboxes.
No, it is only time gated in SP, you can still play MP and progress. If they limited how much you could get in every mode, that would be time gated. They don't stop you from progressing, if you only want to play offline, that is a self-imposed gate.
As long as any content is locked behind a timer then the content is time-gated.
Being able to work around it on a technicality doesn't mean it wasn't time-gated to begin with.
Yeah, this game seems less like a game and more like a deposit box, except you get shit in return.
Definitely a hard pass.
We're completely off topic now, can we go back to talking about the campaign?
Yeah the campaign looks good it's a shame it's tied to a time-gated lootcrate hoarding shitshow of a game
Also a shame space combat looks like the weak shit it already was in Battlefront 1, just shinier.
I had a lot of fun with the space combat in the beta. Didn't feel anything like the last game.
I'm actually kinda surprised they give you credits by playing arcade at all. But yeah, I wish they would remove the cap and instead reduce the amount given each match (assuming they don't want people to use arcade for farming). Hopefully they'll change it in the full game.

It actually plays a lot better then the first game, it was reworked by a different developer. It was my favourite mode in the open beta.

You mean like Team Fortress 2? I don't remember a leveling system in that game until last year but that kept a high playerbase pretty damn well. Unless by "these days" you mean this year where suddenly people have gotten so used to them they apparently can't play a game longer for any other reason, which is bullshit.

pretty sure games like dota and csgo work just fine without it. you could just make a good game and not put everything behind bullshit walls that give veteran players an insane advantage over anyone else.

a game from 10 years ago doesnt really count as "these days"
theres no point in arguing with someone who defends anything Star Wars to the death. giving EA exclusive rights to Star Wars games was a beyond terrible mistake and its unfortunate that some people can't help but to defend it. just because it has "Star Wars" in the title.
"Oh its new and shiny i better love it and make sure Disney is aware of my undying loyalty!"
I felt kinda bad for them when they saw the Deathstar go boom. Reminds you that there was probably shit loads of innocent people on there, some of whom were probably friends and family to them.
Also makes you kinda realize that Lando and Luke were far bigger murderers than any villain apart from Tarkin who blew up a planet.
