So!
How hard do you guys think it would be to build a larger boat using the same kinds of methods? Something at least large enough to have a small cabin?

Extremely.

IT's called a "Launch" or there is the "Gondola" I've build 2 of the first and one of the latter. Both year-long projects.
Anyone have any great ideas on how to transport this cumbersome thing around? Just put it in a truck bed with blankets or what?

I know people often tie them to the roof of their car, but if you don't have a roof rack (or a car) it'll just end up scratching the crap out or your paint I'm sure.
You might be able to find a cheap little trailer or maybe make one. I'm sure making one wouldn't be too hard since you built a fucking boat haha.

You make a rig taht goes in a truck or somewhere else. We have one for transporting ladies' longboats. You just basically make two "horses" with an arch. The arch should fit inside the canoe when it is flipped upside down. IT will also hold it still. WE just put carpet over cut plywood for ours. Works great.

Oh yes! Thank you! That's similar to what I had in mind. I guess I'll just have to rig something up.
In my opinion, true power comes from the ability to create whatever the fuck you want. You are damn close. Mad respect.
I will be impressed if you pull this off, I think it will be hard but also rewarding. Also I've heard cedar strip canoes sell for a good amount of money.
I remain extremely impressed. Now I am thinking of starting a project like this, I have all the tools and a good lumber yard nearby, but I don't know if I have the motivation!
Anyways, good job man.
Is that a CRf450X on op picture?

CRF250X. I know. Not as cool.
Have you put the boat in water yet?
That's true craftsmanship, I wish my school would offer classes like that. Cant wait to see her in the water!
Finally set out on my maiden voyage! One of the few days the weather has permitted such activity since the boat's completion. (I'm in the PNW)

The level of craftsmanship is incredible
i like it.
Amazing, makes me want to build one. I got a lake in my area that I go to on a weekly basis, of course that visit involves drinking and speed-boats.
But it would be awesome to just build one, for almost nothing and just enjoy a good canoe ride.
That's absolutely beautiful, I can't tell you how happy I am to see how this has turned out. You should be EXTREMELY proud of yourself, especially considering the level of craftsmanship that we're all seeing here. You've obviously put so much love and passion into this canoe that I guarantee everyone who sees this will absolutely love it, and more importantly you've made a benchmark for yourself of what you are able to accomplish. With this you can only go up in what you achieve, at least in the way of woodworking ;)
This is pretty amazing. I find it incredible how a forum filled with complete strangers can be so talented. I feel inadequate now.
This is so cool, I wish I could make cool shit like this.
That is the most beautiful canoe i've ever seen, all those colours fit to eachother and that shape + those small details, looking great, i'm waiting for more projects from you. :v:
I had completely forgot about this. Nice to see you got it finished!
WOW! that is so beautiful! you did a amazing JOB on this canoe, Can you or have you shown the Inside? and or possibly of you Canoeing in it? MY goodness,I should be so lucky........way kool!
