You literally have no idea what you're talking about. This Xbox one only concept you're describing is literally every game nowadays. And its not as dramatic as you make it seem. You can play your game after 50% install and it takes less than 5 minutes. Same goes for downloaded patches.
That post is based on an actual experience I had. My friend owns an Xbox One, we literally bought Master Chief Collection at midday one day intended to play some co-op, went back to his place, started installing and it wasn't in a playable state until 4pm. This is a thing that really happened to me. [editline]22nd March 2015[/editline]
I use the Wii U every day and the only long update I've ever had was the initial firmware update. Don't own a PS4 or Xbone so I don't know about those. But I doubt it's as constant and bad as you make it seem.
I can only speak for the Xbox One as that's the only 8th gen console I've spent a decent amount of time with, and it's really true for it. WiiU and PS4 might be better, I don't know.
Labeling anyone who disagreed with your viewpoint as "fanboys" doesn't make your point any more appealing/valid. If it really was an misinterpretation, then you wouldn't have spent the time elaborating an argument against all of their points. If they misinterpreted you then, then they aren't, now. Okay and? I guess PS4 should have released a year earlier, then. I don't get your point. At this point in time, Wii U seems to be the preferred console, so it looks like their approach was better. [editline]21st March 2015[/editline] ??? Which is it? Did they piss it away, or did their year give them time to build up a library?
Nintendo had a year head start and they pissed it away. Sony and Microsoft also pissed away their first year. How is that hard to understand? Nintendo are still a years worth of releases ahead because Sony and Microsoft fucked up, which is why Nintendo is lucky. The WiiU is the preferred console* and that's pretty sad considering how pathetic its library is. My point wasn't that Nintendo sucks, it was that there's no point in buying any console right now. *Also the WiiU is hardly the preferred console if sales numbers are anything to go by.
Random thought, but why do so many youtubers I see joke about having to update the Wii U all the time? Like seriously, i've owned one since near launch, and it only updates about as often as any other console, like once every 3 or 4 weeks, and it's never taken me more then five minutes to download it either.
"Console gaming is a scary and confusing place where rules are made up and quality doesn't matter." If it were anyone else I'd be convinced he didn't actually play any consoles.

There are a fair number of successful, well recieved, and highly rated games in the Wii U's library, which were garnered over that year. They objectively didn't piss it away. Just because you're not particularly fond of the games doesn't mean they don't count. Wii U IS the preferred console, and we aren't talking about sales numbers. Super Bunnyhop bought both. So, by sales numbers, he thinks they're equal. But he was disappointed by the PS4, and pleased by the Wii U. And think about just how many people have that opinion.
I think the thing is with so many things happening on PC consoles are just looking like a second class option. From multi-monitor setups, 120+ hz and 21:9 monitors to VR tech. They are just causing issues for themselves, the lack of backwards compatibility for example which is a real stabbing point when our PCs can play 20 or 30+ year old games with no issues. Versions of games that have little or no chance of appearing on these new machines that contain upgraded graphics (I doubt Max Payne 3, Arkham City or Bioshock Infinite will ever make it over to new gen). I had a friend who in fact went over to PC for the simple opinion she thought that consoles had lost the plot when it came to their main purpose believing they seemed more interested in being a Netflix box than something that she could sit down to and play games on and that is before I even get into the online play side of things.

PCs take a while to set up when you first get them and need to be consistently updated throughout their lifetime, more so than consoles in my experience.
All I hear is rose tinted "wah wah, back in my day we didn't have to spend hours of a console life time with improving the user's experience/fixing bugs/optimizing firmware. These new fangled two year old at best game boxes have no ultra amazing exclusives like my old game box that had so many great games, *proceeds to list games that came out in the middle of a console's life cycle, some of which came out years after console release or were in development for years before console release*" I'd rather have to play an hour later because of a game update than have my experience ruined by game breaking bugs that somehow made it past QA. Imagine if Ass Creed Unity or any other big title AAA game that came out within the last few years that had major bug problems was just left as it was with no updates. Just take that in for a moment. This video is literally bitching about a very important aspect of customer service. Lets look at fucking Wasteland 2, ON RELEASE the second half of the game was so broken that it would soft lock randomly because quest events would fail to trigger or trigger at the wrong time. There were numerous spelling and grammatical errors in it as well, it was as if the entire thing was written by a 7th grader and never spell checked. I have no clue how it fares now as I heard a patch was released, but it was fucking unplayable before. May as well release a video about how shitty *any MMO ever, lets use WoW as an example* because you have to occasionally waste your precious gaming time to download updates or expansions. Seriously, if you're the kind of person who is going to literally sit there and watch something download for FOUR HOURS, you're a fucking no life chump who needs to learn that they can leave something to download and go do something important like doing the laundry, going for a walk, or literally anything and just play later. Is it so bad that you can't play with your new console right this very second. God forbid anyone have any patience over anything. I totally forgot all about those amazing launch titles like Kameo: Elements of Power that we had in previous generations, my bad guys
I honestly don't care about the amount of exclusive titles on a console. I made a trade for my Xbox One with my brother but I would have bought one anyway and heres why: I like playing video games on a console, new video games come out on the latest consoles. I could of kept playing games on my 360 but I'm going to have to upgrade eventually, so I might was well start my collection on a console that I am going to use for the next 5-10 years. If there is enough titles exclusive to PS4 that I want, when it's price drops in a couple of years, I would probably buy one too, it's just that I was on Xbox last gen so I'm sticking to it. About having to download large updates my only gripe is the console comes with 500gb of memory. I have around 9 games installed on my Xbox (because you have to install games even if you're playing on disc) and I have no memory left to install new games. Downloading updates isn't an issue for me and it shouldn't be for anyone else either because you can multitask on current gen consoles now. When I'm installing a game/downloading an update I can boot up Rayman or Dying light at the same time and play that until its ready. Plus you can play the game while it is installing as long as it has installed enough to play the single player/multiplayer. To summarize: It's not a bad idea to purchase a new console if you are going to use it for it's product life cycle. Games will come out, thats a given.
I stopped consoling at the ps2 and original xbox. Idk, but to me console gaming wen't downhill after that. Just my personal opinion.

As such, exclusives are what drive my decision to buy.
E3 need's to give me a good reason to care for the PS4.
