It can still beat a tesla, but maybe not a "drag tesla" (which is just a whole bunch of weight reduction)
I don't see why anyone is surprised. An electric motor will reign supreme over any petrol engine when it comes to acceleration.

On a budget that may be true, but once people modify the car, petrol still seems significantly faster. For example, there's Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 3's making 1500 hp and 3100nm torque with a 2 liter 4 inline. It goes from 0-100kph in 1.14 seconds.
How much faster can you make an electric car? Not really very much.

Its his sole purpose, just like the viper's purpose is to be a track monster.

It can also get to 300kph, or at least one did in the desert, before it crashed... But it was a 4

This one goes to 341kph. There's also a IX with 600hp more, no idea how fast that one goes. It supposedly goes from 80-280kph in 5.8 seconds. To put that into perspective, it takes a Model S P85D 5.6 seconds to go from 0-130kph.
I live in Atlanta, GA and I'm surprised to see a lot of them. By no means is it a common car for most, just common among the elite that can afford it.
Tesla makes some bad ass stuff though.
Teslas are everywhere in Seattle, along with Volts, Leafs, and the BMW i3. Saw an i3 last week that had the plate CHARGIT, actually :v:
I see as much teslas as I do camrys, civics, and generic econoboxes(tesla is in my city and a lot of people here own them)
It's Fisker Karmas that are rare
I recently got a job at the factory where they made the first 2000 Karmas, before getting shut down and being sold to the states for another 1000 or so cars. They have one in the showroom, its a stunningly beautiful car, shame it didn't reach the expectations and was made out of cheap materials causing major faults

Why would the P85D take 2.8 seconds from 0-100, but then 3 additional seconds to get from 100-130?
Those numbers seem wrong.
Who do I have to thank for you title?
The guy in the porsche spun spun out and could have hurt someone. Smart people who own expensive cars like that don't be silly and try to race others.

Alright then. Maybe it wasn't on ludicrous mode.
The P100D on ludicrous mode goes from 0-200 in 10.5 seconds. That Evo IX goes from 80-280 in 5.8 seconds. Both an increase of 200km/h, but reaching 280 is significantly harder than 200.
Also, just went on a drive through town, about 15 minutes. Saw 5 Model S's and 1 X. They're starting to become rather common.
You are correct. However, you did not say this originally. You said:
Which is just stupid. If you instead meant that they were stupid for people who own these kinds of luxury vehicles, as in, don't deserve them for their recklessness, then you'd be right. But it does not seem the case. If it is, then I'm sorry.
I worded it incredibly poorly; I meant to say they are being irresponsible drivers, especially so considering they own fast, luxury vehicles. Take it to a private track if you want to test the speed limit, acceleration, etc. I apologize for my poor wording.
