deal with it [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] bitch
When you finish skyrim :V:
oh right. lol well i've had enough skyrim to get some other things done. we'll get something going again tomorrow :v:
Guys get it out by Thanksgiving, I've been planning to write a song where the lyrics are just "gobble gobble gobble" followed by a sweet ass Turkery bass solo.
No.
Oh, right, I've got a Midiman Oxygen8 keyboard, but don't even know what programs I can use it with or what.
I've to do some songs for the indie company I'm part of, pretty much because we don't have a music/sound artist with us for now. I happen to have a lot of weird things or incomplete songs, so I could likely send you one. Here's one of my finished songs, if you're interested. Bear in mind that it's video game style and meant to illustrate a prototype
Here have some crummy percussion. [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] I dunno how to embed the player. Thanks Dick :v: Tracy, now go after Pruneface!

Like, it sounds really cheap and lo-fi, and not the good type of lo-fi. What DAW are you using? If you want to program drums, then FL studio is definietly the best program I know about that can offer you great samples and easy ways of making them. As for the mix itself, the snare drum sounds cut-off and not like a snare at all, it sounds like just the high end of a snare drum, but without any of the characteristics and muddied. The kick is really low and has no definition, there's a boom but there is a distinct lack of kick, if you know what I mean. The oil-drum would perhaps sound good as an addition to a techno mix because of how it sounds, but now it doesn't really sound as a oil-drum but more like a mishap, that needs more definition. I'm afraid it isn't possible to fix the snare and oil-drum without getting better samples for your DAW, the kick could be fleshed out if you messed around with the EQ a bit, boost the lower frequencies (300-500) a notch, boost the mids a tiny bit (just a few db) and give the high a hearty boost of say, 10-12 db. Lower the general volume of the bass drum a small notch and it should sound more booming and awesome, the kick that is. [editline]17th November 2011[/editline] You embed with by the way. Glad to have you with us cptarmadillo, I look forward to hear what you'd be able to do with some proper samples! =)
I'm currently using Musescore, then when my dad finds his copy of Cubase LE 4 I'll do stuff in that. I guess I gotta find a good percussion soundfont then. The instruments were snare, bass drum, and tympani.
Oh, nice! I love tympanis, a necessary component in any percussion. I think you could get those instruments in FL studio with EZ drummer actually, but addictive VST (which is for cubase) is also really good. I think it's more 'traditional' in that you usually won't be able to get other drums than the basic kitting + toms/cymbals, but anything is possible. When you're going to mix it, remember to save each track (snare, bass, tympani) separately, so that you can really work that EQ for each separate instrument. =)
http://soundfonts.homemusician.net/drum_kits_and_percussive_kits_soundfonts/page1/index.html just trawled this for a good one, found one that looked promising, trying now. I think I'll just upload them separatly and let one of you guys EQ and mix it... I need to make sure I've got some dynamics in it too. [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] Well, that's not working... It gives me error:5 when decompressing the .sfARK.
Get me all the tracks in .wav and I'll see what I can do about mixing and EQ =)
Okay, first, the soundfont I'm gonna try, I cannot decompress. http://soundfonts.homemusician.net/drum_kits_and_percussive_kits_soundfonts/acoustic_percussion.html If anyone can get it decompressed back to an .sf2 or can tell me of an .sf2 of good percussion, Then thanks very much. For some reason, I always end up with about 20 gb of my ~110 gb free. Guess it's time to unisntall Hl2: all eps till I get to them.
I'll offer $3 for every review, skip the quality check, just add that there is money donated to UNICEF for writing a review of the album. I'll also offer an additional $5 to UNICEF for every referral people make, as long as they can prove that there will be views coming in from another source beyond facepunch, facebook and IMing.
Made a post over here but it's for the 6th album instead of this one.
Well I'm going to pay an extra $5 instead, because UNICEF needs the money anyways.
My song is finished. I'll send it when I can be assed to render a wav. (Takes fucking forever)
Well, can't save as three tracks, so gonna copy paste and make errything same.
You could possibly just mute every track beyond the one you want to export, and export the song three times, with every track but one muted every time. So first time, mute snare and bass drum, next time bass drum and tympani etc

[editline]17th November 2011[/editline] uploading now.

I'm really surprised I got on the album.
I'm really surprised I got on the album.
Why's that?
I am in, will create some neurofunk and post it here. If anyone has problems with mixing or sound design, you can PM me. What about creating Facepunch netlabel? That would be nasty. Think it of something like breakbitmusic.com .

That would be nasty. Think it of something like breakbitmusic.com .
We've discussed this idea in the past. I remember Vedicardi explaining in detail why it would not work. Quite honestly, I'm not sure what he said, but it was pretty convincing
I'm not sure what I said back then, but I think the issue was was more in the details of how the person wanted to run the netlabel, saying stuff like it was more about youtube than anything else or some garbage like that, and some other silly stuff like that. I think if whoever decided to run it knew what they were doing it could be a pretty cool, and it certainly could work (though on a much smaller scale for a very long time in comparison to a physical based label obviously). It's not as if it hasn't been done before. Really it just comes down to if you know what you're doing or not.
I don't really see why it won't work. Starting with website - creating basic layout and scripts (or creating page on some CMS) - connecting it with bandcamp (sure the best option) or soundcloud for downloads - artist and release pages - comments - mailing group Promotion - creating YouTube channel - uploading sets, promos, tracks with some graphic loop - creating FB Page - creating SoundCloud (and following everoyne, spammin' shit) / official.fm page - if tracks are OK, forcing our tracks on various channels on yt (i mean sth like NeurofunkGrid or PandaDNB) - getting a basic fanbase Most of releases are free under some cc license or whatever - donate option - payable releases with bandcamp It isn't something impossible, we just need some people to help out with it, and some artists.
