I don't think turning in to an orange alien is quite what Carrie meant by new style.

holy fuck what was with the empty face-to-face flourishing at 6:25 in the obi/ani fight
the new fights were impressive but there's a lot of bits to them that are hilariously blatant showmanship, and a lot of dumb rookie swordfight choreography tropes

She lives in Space Jersey now, hard times come to us all.
I think both of these fights are really good. Of course in ESB, there's the overarching Vader tension, but people whiz by Episode 3 even though it had built up a lot of emotion and drama up till this point. The entire final act of Episode 3 converges to Vader and Obi-Wan to duel to the death, and since they are master and apprentice, they both know each other's moves and movesets so they have to use their skills to the highest extent. That's why they do all this crazy shit. I think for me, lightsaber duels go ROTJ > ROTS > ESB.
I never felt much emotion or drama in that final battle really. Obi-Wan and Anakin were just bland and a little off so I never connected with them. Every time the film tried to convey emotion it just seemed forced (no pun intended) and the big epic battle was largely just a flashy spectacle without any emotion or tension to it.

Well don't watch it from the beginning of the fight. Watch it when Anakin stops Windu. His downfall and transition into Vader is pretty amazing to watch. I remember watching a review somewhere where he said that Hayden isn't too great of an actor especially with the dialogue, but his eyes make up for it. The evil in it when he killed the remaining CIS leaders at Mustafar is awesome. Then it shows him fully mental when Padme confronts him at Mustafar.
They were good. No where near as good as the originals, but still good.
Never tried the Machete order, will have to now.
I love it. I see the prequels as a flashback showing Anakin's story.
Yeah that ship the Falcon flies through at the end, is a crashed upside down Super Star Destroyer
Some major fighting must have happened around this planet during the war.

It's not just that, the whole fight is just so weird. It's mainly pointless swinging that's impossible to keep up with but whenever you have to something happens and they stop swinging. At one point they stand face to face rapidly swinging at the air without hitting anything, at another they're swinging from ropes taking pot shots at each other, then they're surfing on lava etc. They just go from place to place doing overblown shit, the special effects are comical in a few places and the camera transitions skipping the rapid action makes it look like a comedy montage. The whole thing seems like a weird slapstick parody.
Also at no point did Anakin ever feel like the Darth Vader we know. In II and III he's just some young angsty guy the whole way, he's almost the opposite of classic Vader in terms of character. They feel completely different.
first 5 seconds already look better than the sterile mess of ep 1 to 3
It actually does seem to make sense
Episode IV, II, V, III, then VI could also work for someone who hasn't seen the series. The series with Episode IV like normal, we hear about Luke's father. Episode II comes around, we actually see his father and his relationship to Obi-Wan. V, we learn that Vader is actually Anakin. In III we see his turn to the Dark Side and learn that Leia and Luke are twins, then VI resolves everything.
It actually sounds like a decent idea. Also, I really need those Despecialized Edition Blu-Rays.

Ehhhhh, I think if someone's never seen Star Wars before they should just stick to watching 4, 5 and 6 then watch 1, 2 and 3 if they're so inclined.
The machete order or whatever is fun if you've already seen the movies and already understand the plot but regularly watching 4, 5 and 6 together will make for the most coherent story.
I really, really enjoy this trailer. I know that some people think the "You have that power too" line is cheesy. I also know that it was spoken to Leia in ROTJ. However, I cannot get past how it made me feel.
When I was a kid it was fun to imagine that the Force, in all its glory, was something that could be locked behind some door that I had yet to open, and if I just tried hard enough, I could use it too.
Then came the prequel trilogy, and everything was ruined.
Midochlorians, or however the hell you spell it, what a load of fucking bullshit that destroyed all hope of ever being a Jedi. Fuck Midochlorians, up until this point I had to pretend it wasn't a thing.
This line, however, really brought that back for me, and it really brought me back to the days when there wasn't anything else but the original trilogy. This trailer made me extremely happy, and extremely nostalgic, and if these are good I will truly be able to pretend that the prequel trilogy doesn't really exist.

ok i got that wrong but
Anakin's Lightsaber and Luke's original lightsaber are the same thing. Luke got it from Obi-Wan in a New Hope but lost it at the end of Empire when Vader cut off his hand.
rewatching both teasers
why is black stormtrooper so sweaty all the time
They were good. No where near as good as the originals, but still good.
They're boring as fuck, especially the second episode. The only reason people watched the third one was to get it all over with.
I hope Harrison Ford is more excited to act. He always seems so bored after that new Indiana Jones movie.

He has that same "Oh fuck I didn't sign up for this" look on his face in every scene.
Yeah Harrison Ford!
Hell yeah, great to see Han back in the cockpit.

Yes EP3 wasnt that bad. It wasnt great but it wasnt terrible either.
Yes EP3 wasnt that bad. It wasnt great but it wasnt terrible either.
Everything dragged out for so long. They could have cut half of the shit from the movie and improved it considerably.
Not to mention that some of the actors struggle to either give a shit or not laugh in it.
I liked EP3 but with the amount of things that are wrong with it I'm amazed it turned out as well as it did. It could of easily been a great movie.
Was Luke's dialog lifted straight from ROTJ or new lines from Hamill? At first i thought it was the former since he sounds so different now but I do know he has pretty good range so it could be him changing his voice to sound more like he did in the originals.
The new stormtrooper helmets look like they're smiling. It ruins the look imo.
pls don't be shit
There's a lot of stuff i want them to get right but proper lightsaber duels is near the top of the list, since those fights seem to be the peak of the action or really important scenes
There needs to be tension, and a real sense of the two fighters actively trying to kill each other
not super acrobatic lightshow overly flashy bullshit

Vader is fucking terrifying in that first clip. It's undeniably crude and a little slow, but every swing looks like it's going to chop either of them into pieces, and the camerawork is sensational. Obi and Vader's fight in the first movie has the same effect
I've actually had arguments with people over this crap, unsurprisingly, but disappointingly
Red Letter Media's prequel trilogy reviews went over this in detail, but in the original movies fights had a purpose. They weren't as flashy but they all represented these deep emotions and had narrative reason for being there. Like in that scene you can tell just how much Vader is toying with him, especially at the start. It fleshes out the dynamic between the two characters. In the prequels fights were just there for the sake of having fights.
Yes, you don't have to watch the prequels at all unless you want to see the cgi cartoons (The Clone Wars is easily the best thing we got from the prequels and Rebels is pretty good too).
Aside from that Episode 1 Racer game that was actually pretty good.
Much better than the first trailer. The First one just looked like some completed shots with a voice over.
Only thing I have to complain about the trailer is all the panning/dolly shots. Lock that shit down and have some faith in the scene.
well JJ still put in lends flares, just harder to see so he can try to get away with it.
seeing harrison ford happy again just melts my heart
It is a win regardless the movies outcome.
If it's good, that's nice.
If it's sucks, we might getting more plinket reviews.
