They're right though, it's a song that doesn't have intelligible words (go on, tell me that most of those views on the youtube video are from people that speak Korean) and a catchy tune. But then they started comparing it to drugs and shit. Typical O'Reilly.
i respect psy as an artist, and im glad his music is popular. but I cant help to cringe when I see mainstreamer fat americans dance around while mumbling until the part in the song where he says "sexy lady"
They don't understand Korean, so of course they're not going to mumble the lyrics word by word. Non-English speakers do the exact same things with English songs, especially the Japanese and Koreans. Though I do agree, a lot of cringe-worthy dancing I've seen from a lot of people, and not just from the States.
This is just old people complaining about the internet.
The psychologist is just trying to over-analyse it. And O'Reilly is just a twat anyway - this only dignifies my hatred further.
Oh look, an abomination trying to interpret a fellow shit stain of humanity.
It has no meaning and has few intelligible words? Uhh... He knows its in Korean, right?
Its Keith Ablow. He's the Fox News psychiatrist. So you can probably assume he bought a degree online.
I think what the guy meant with "unintelligible words" is what others perceive it as. Like, most of us don't speak Korean, and thus it's unintelligible to us. I dunno.
"This is some fat guy from yung yang or some place" Wow that's racist. I can't wait till Bill gets the squinted glasses and starts saying to the psychiatrist "Me love you long time."
It has no meaning and has few intelligible words? Uhh... He knows its in Korean, right?
over 90% of the views aren't koreans I assure you, so he has a point
Old, but still a better analysis than the one by O'Reilly.
"I know 15 guys called PSY and none of them look like this" I don't think they would either, Bill.
Gangnam Style, you can't explain that.
Well its technically a love song. [editline]1st December 2012[/editline] Or a song about being attracted to this girl, though the lyrics are not "deep" or anything.
the emotional shit he's talking about is ridiculous, but I actually think his core point is right to someone who doesn't understand korean, it really is just simply about the beat itself. the beat and the music video are what made it famous, not any sort of artistic merit. but i'm willing to bet this guy would be rather two faced if faced with opera, lol. "oh, artistic masterpiece!"
American television is just ridiculous.
"... it raises no emotions and ..." Ok I can live with this "it's basically like a drug." Ok there we go, almost getting worried that they'd be reasonable about this.
They don't speak American therefor there is no meaning. Bill O'Reilly never ceases to astonish me with his backwards ass views.
They don't speak American therefor there is no meaning. Bill O'Reilly never ceases to astonish me with his backwards ass views.
I can't blame him, he is only catering to his audience.
I really, really wish he would just fall into a fucking wormhole or something.
Did he... Did he just say that Psy is from Pyong Yang? :v:
Republican Foreign Policy at work.
At the end Bill O'Reilly said he found nothing wrong with it, he even disagreed with the doctor when he said it was like a drug. You guys are being over dramatic. It's a stupid song, and Bill O'Reilly found it stupid.

Even if you don't get the social satire (most people won't, given it's in Korean) the ironic humor is just so in your face...

I just worked out why all the first page thumbnails for every catagory, based on user popularity for a certain pornsite i know, were all turned completely asian related a few weeks back.

>People use the internet to numb themselves Yes, I make stupid posts on 4chan all day because inside I'm a sad, broken, dead man who couldn't do anything in real life if he tried, because the internet is the only place that can soften my endless pain in this cruel, harsh, and lonely world. ...oh wait
Honestly, I know Gangam style is frowned about on Facepunch suddenly, but I still think its funny. I don't get why he fails to understand it. Its a catchy song with a funny video. Why is it so bad people like it?
<insert-dead-horse-joke-here>
