[QUOTE=FinalHunter;30601408]Is there really any practical purpose for this thing?[/QUOTE]
The RS Image utility lets me program the shutter among other things but I have yet to achieve the ultimate goal of capturing multiple images in one go.
Most traffic cameras I know of also have a flash.

Well it's confirmed. This is no high speed camera. This is in fact a prototype Photometrics CoolSnap HQ2 camera.

To me it's totally useless as I am not a biologist.
sell it back to them in 5 years for nostalgia
I'm gonna buy this off you. I do lots of microscope and high speed imaging and other experimental shit. This would be awesome to have :P

That's interesting. I wonder how it ended up in the recycle waste place where you found it.
Nice paperweight
Even though it's not a high-speed camera, I find it very interestting. Please take som more pictures and shit.
How much do you think you'll be able to get for it?
Yup, how much? just curious about that.
Its a prototype. Thats like, only 1 or in this case 8++ made in this world.
Of course it would be expensive right?
if you can tell it the shutter speed, you could probably take nice pictures of stars if the ccd is cooled and has so littlle noise
any idea on the lens mount?
[editline]21st June 2011[/editline]
i wonder if it's c mount
[editline]21st June 2011[/editline]
in fact, if it is c mount i could potentially mail you a lens which i am fairly sure is also c mount (it came from an old, free cctv camera)
[editline]21st June 2011[/editline]
oh wait, spec sheet says it is c mount
win!
Mayby it was broken or just too outdated for use. Why else would someone get rid of it?
hmm, if you'd like that lens, you could PM an address to send it to and i can mail it sometime this week i think (unless the shipping turns out to be extortionate)
it might be handy because it has manual focus and aperture controls (which the one that you have appears to lack)
Holy shit man, get a telescope and rig this thing up to it and take pictures of stars/planets. I would love to see pictures like that if you took them as would many others I think.
Also the pictures would be awesome quality because of how little noise that camera gets.
Even though this isn't a high speed camera, this is still awesome, nice find man and well done on getting it working :D
I think you should consider (like others have said ) attaching it to a telescope, it would be pretty awesome... maybe a new hobbie?? :P

Feel free to send it to me. :)
Looks like a projector
EDIT: didn't see other pages... DURP
Unless someone throws immense amounts of cash my way within the next 15 hours, it's been spoken for by someone else.
I'm going to miss it.

How much did you sell it for yo
1000fps? surely more than that, my digital camera can do 1000fps, if this is a high speed camera then this could probably do 10000fps.

Read the OP again, especially the first words at the very top of the page
Did he sell it or something?
I'm confused.
This is quite cool. How may people walk into a scrap yard and walk out with a prototype microscope camera?
Smash it until it does what you want it too.

A price was given to someone over PM but they never responded back so after a week I'm calling the deal off but still open to anyone else who might have some slightly deep pockets (but still less than $1000).

I have deep pockets.. but not the kind you're looking for.. :smith:
Sell it for a lot, then buy a high-speed camera! :buddy:
