I like how the owl actually can move its head in a 360* angle. And some of the cat's hair stands up when it uses that fire move. That's a nice touch. The seal is as bad as Oshawott though. I'm not really feeling the legendaries. The lion is overdetailed and the bat feels more like a bendable display than a creature. And why is the girl player character wearing a goddamn sea anemone on her head?
I think fire will turn into Fire/Rock seeing as it's oil based and type advantage over Grass/Flying
If you look at where the eyes are again and include the lined markings on its face you can clearly see the alchemical symbol for Sulfur. My guess is that it's going to be Fire/Dark.
overdetailed
I love this meme
the main characters look so boring
I think fire will turn into Fire/Rock seeing as it's oil based and type advantage over Grass/Flying
then that means the water one has to be a fighting type but i dont know how they can manage that

[sp]Heck Lucario looks like the negative version of Renamon to begin with[/sp]
They look good except for the whale[?] thing, but their evolutions will probably look shit Pokemon really need to go back to the less complex designs of Gen 1-3
These design are pretty simple. Wtf do you want? A circle? [editline]10th May 2016[/editline]
Trainer designs are pretty bland, but it's nice to see customization is back from X/Y
Customization isn't back, I think you just pick your hair/skin color and that's it. Still better than nothing.
the bat feels more like a bendable display than a creature.
Have you ever looked at a bat's skeleton? They are fragile as fuck. How do you expect a bat to look, like a mountain of muscle? It wouldn't fly at all then.
Honestly I think the designs of the pokemon them selves are good, but they definitely don't look like they meet the expectations that come with starter pokemon. They look like the pokemon you'd find in the first couple of routes when you're going to the low level gyms.
I love this meme
Maybe I should say badly detailed? They put too much into one section of the design? I mean its face is fucking lcd screen, and then it's also got a bunch of shit on its mane Mane shit and no LCD face, or LCD face with less mane shit Either of those would look a bit better. Hell, even LCD face and mane shit but differently colored so it matches better.
Customization isn't back, I think you just pick your hair/skin color and that's it. That sucks, that was one of the best parts of X and Y. then again the protagonists actually look like 10 year olds this time around, so maybe that would have gotten weird
Have you ever looked at a bat's skeleton? With a bit of volume in the middle, rather than being like a stingray? Maybe it does have that and it's hard to see because of the limited amount of angles we have of it, as well as that whole LCD screen thing. It's not that bad, though. It's better than the lion.

They look like the pokemon you'd find in the first couple of routes when you're going to the low level gyms.
That's pretty accurate. I think that's because we've had a lot of lower tier pokemon that somewhat resemble these 3, be it in simple appearance, or in style. Yeah, I can totally see it. Every gen's starter before had this style to it, yet these look oddly out of place in comparison. Maybe they'll feel different when we get the final artwork for them? ANYWAYS... I like the Hawaii feeling of the game.
I think fire will turn into Fire/Rock seeing as it's oil based and type advantage over Grass/Flying
It's red and black, looks like a fire/dark imo.
The owl looks dope You can keep the other two.
Nothing is confirmed either way yet, but you can see the player character wear a black striped shirt instead of a blue one somewhere in one of the trailers for a second, which may or may not mean something.
Nice catch. Hopefully we can at least take off the girl character's stupid hat.
ANYWAYS... I like the Hawaii feeling of the game.
Is it weird if the tropical island theme first made me think that some Sin-like pokemon is going to show up?
I love the fire starter, and the grass one isnt too shabby either. If fashion isnt back god is dead and we killed him
Hopefully we can at least take off the girl character's stupid hat.
Headgear is mandatory for every pokemon game
Owl is alright, but the other two look eugh, and even then, I like Piplup way more than this bird.
gotta get this for the owl with the bowtie ur never evolving
These are the worst starters yet. I've always been a water starter but this gay seal thing might make me switch to fire.
Owl is alright, but the other two look eugh, and even then, I like Piplup way more than this bird.
Piplup was the fucking shit Acutally don't know which legendary I like the best. I usually go for looks, but after my friends Xerneas raped my Yveltal I don't know anymore.
I like all these tbh.... I'm a sucker for how cute and simplistic they are.
Is it weird if the tropical island theme first made me think that some Sin-like pokemon is going to show up?
Uhhhhm... Sin as in FFX Sin? [editline]11th May 2016[/editline]
Piplup was the fucking shit Acutally don't know which legendary I like the best.
And presumably due to it's owl-like nature, maybe it's full evolution will be some sort of Grass/Flying type? Though that'd make it a pretty risky bet, since Grass already has five weaknesses, and combining it with Flying would make it quad-weak to Ice.
It already said it's Grass and Flying at the very beginning.
Design wise I think the fire cat is a little iffy because of the face markings. Water seal is kinda goofy but I thought that about Oshawott when it was first revealed and now I think its adorable so I dunno. Grass owl was the only one that stuck out as a good design to me, really. But then again it's just an oval lol. Also it's really cute
Like Golbat, Noivern, Swoobat, Gliscor? With a bit of volume in the middle, rather than being like a stingray? It's not that bad, though. It's better than the lion.
Well then it would be either of those pokémon, and not new or legendary.
Reminder that the THESE NEW STARTERS ARE SHIT discussion has been happening for 10 years
These are the worst starters yet. I've always been a water starter but this gay seal thing might make me switch to fire.
The owl is better than Chikorita, which was literally a banana. The cat might be the worst of the fire starters, but that's not really saying much, since all of the fire starters look good. The seal is as bad as Oshawott. I think I've realized why the owl and cat look so different from the other starters of their type, though. Each starter is generally shades of green, shades of blue, or shades of red, orange, and yellow for grass, water, and fire respectively. They may have other details, like black parts or colors associated with the other starters, but these parts are typically no more than half of the body. On the other hand, the owl is orange and white with green highlights, rather than green with orange highlights. And the cat is 75% black with red highlights, whereas Cyndaquil and Tepig are less than 50% black. The red parts are a pretty vivid red, too, whereas most starters (in their first forms) have a more red-orange color. This is also why Chespin stood out: it's mostly brown with green highlights.
Well then it would be either of those pokémon, and not new or legendary.
I'm not saying it literally has to be Golbat. although that would be pretty great if they actually pulled that off Pokemon Sun cover: LCD-face lion thing Pokemon Moon cover: just a golbat Now I'm imagining a version of the typical pokemon story where everyone thinks that some large Golbat is a legendary pokemon. Looking at the bat legendary a bit more, it's actually not bad. There's just a weird contrast between its round head and flat body. Although it would be a little more understandable if it's a ghost type. The lion's face still looks like shit though
Reminder that the THESE NEW STARTERS ARE SHIT discussion has been happening for 10 years
Even longer than that. I've read comments of people who were, as a child, introduced to pokemon during gen 1 who said everything past gen 1 is shit. I've read comments of people who were introduced during gen 2 who said everything past gen 2 is shit. I've read comments of people who were introduced during gen 3 who said everything past gen 3 is shit... etcetera. Hating on new pokemon is a tradition.
