It's not child pornography because it's a depiction. I think it's pretty gross, but I don't think people who look at it should be arrested or be considered a pedophile.

Maybe that magritte guy had a point and people do need this explaining to them, images of things are just images, regardless of how realistic they look, if someone rendered a CP scene using 3ds max to be so realistic nobody could tell then it would be as much CP as would a hand drawn one, or a film of actual child molestation.

Well it's a vast generalisation, but that is the general gist of it. And you learn this kind of shit working closely in law firms that deal with pedo cases, as well as being a attorneys assistant at times.

No, you learn that kind of shit by being a psychologist who has studied the field their entire lives, you learn how to lie working at a law firm.
You learn how to lie FOR people. They also tell you most everything, and I've worked closely with some psychologists closely on the issue working on both defenses and on prosocutions.

A very specific type of lying is still not an understanding of psychology.
A lawyer needs to know things and be able to sound confident, but he does not need to understand anything, a psychologist would understand something, but a lawyer only needs to be able to sound as though he does.
What you have is a very narrow knowledge of the subject as it applies to your job, you don't have an understanding of it, and you don't know what most of it means in a larger scope, you cannot apply your knowledge.
There are only two types of people I'd trust when it comes to information on pedophilia, an intelligent pedophile with an aptitude for introspection, and a psychologist who has studied pedophiles for a very long time.

Just because my job only requires me to know a narrow field does not mean I limit myself to such. I try to learn as much as I can, and I don't prented to know everything, or even as much as I would like to know about the subject, but I do know a decent amount.

Actual CP is worse - real imagery with actual humans performing actual acts with a child that invokes some form of sexual arousal through fantasy or biological response. Lolicon is almost precisely that - except it's unreal imagery without actual humans being portrayed doing said acts.
Either way, they're both the same. I would wager both would invoke the fantasies that some people get from this stuff, and would likely further the perversion to a point where actual CP becomes acceptable to the person as it becomes an 'extension' to lolicon
Both are examples of deleterious behavior, but if I had to choose to limit somebody to either form of behavior, I'd choose lolicon. At least there's no real children being abused in the making of said imagery. Aside from that, both are despicable.
