the general gunplay looks nice, but the gun sounds lack balls
Probably the volume because the guy is talking. I was thinking the same about titanfall's gun sounds in some of the videos until i played the beta.
I don't think my PC can play this. It looks too good :(
Please be Rise of the Triad 2013 without flaws!
I'm sure the level designs are going to be linear and corridor based and there's going to be random cutscenes breaking up the gameplay.
So it won't really feel like old school shooters.
I dunno, it looks like it has a lot of shit that ~hardcore gamers~ bitch about, like pre-scripted events (the rappeling, the "interactive" cutscenes).
It looks cool, but I don't really see how it sets itself apart from others other than its aesthetics.
As long as it works and the story and gameplay is as good as the trailers show I'll be fine with it.
It isn't very "old school" though.

That's the thing about old school. It's old. We're in the now man.

B-but healthpacks.
Why is everyone throwing shit at cutscenes? If they are pulled off well and immerse you into the game even more instead of achieving the complete opposite and taking you out of the experience what's so terribly wrong about them? Granted, a lot of games use them very cheap and have no idea what they are doing but cutscenes aren't bad. They can add a lot to a video game in terms of story-telling.

I guess some people haven't caught up.

The main flaw with ROTT2013 in my opinion was the framerate.
Original game was the bomb
I'm still sceptical about this. Cover mechanics, stealth and aiming down sights? Doesn't spring to my mind when I think of old-school shooters! And the movement looks quite slow paced (might be the FoV). I'll have to wait and see some unedited gameplay before I get too excited.
holy shit, an fps with good gun sounds. that smg had some bass to it damn.
I can't wait for this, it's everything i want in an fps so far.

Actually, most of the reports I've heard about the gameplay have stated that the levels are less linear than you'd expect, and actually have secrets in them.
I don't like how people attribute awards to games that aren't even fucking out yet.

I suppose even critics are just as susceptible to hype as we are.

Better yet this is the GOTY award. It's only 3 or 4 months into the year.
Also I would probably reword the title as "Wolfenstein New Order looks to be GOTY contender".

Whatever happened to the days of people playing video games for fun.
Why do we gotta bitch about everything now?

Because obviously this game has guns, and there are guns in COD too so obviously this game is copying off of a fad

This looks like a tonne of fun. I actually really enjoyed the 2009 remake, and I feel that this will be a worthwhile purchase.
What I'm seeing really doesn't look like hype material to me at all. The game looks very slow pace, I don't really like that. RTCW still remains supreme for me in my book, it had fast pace gameplay that really kept on my feet in the game, and a really enjoyable multiplayer that I just had to go back to.
I'm sure that the slow pacing was set up for the video to show off animations/sound.
Uh... None of what I saw is "OLD SCHÜL!", it's all shit found in current day FPS games. I don't want to sound like I'm hating on the game, it looks great! But why they're trying to bill it as some nod to old school FPS games is totally beyond me when it looks just like something you'd expect to made in the past few years.
Interesting how they set up the health regen like Shadow Warrior. They should have just stuck with full regen or healthpacks + armor.
Oh, this actually looks nice!
"Or like the new perk syst..."
Dropped.
