Kids in mah class don't know what Chernobyl was And when we did WW2 they just used shit from Call of duty
Some kids in my World History class back in sophomore year thought Red Dawn actually happened
In one of my classes, we were talking about the Democratic party. One girl says, "So is the Democratic party the Democracy party?" The teacher had to explain to her that it was just a name. Also, another kid in the same class gave a presentation in which he read directly off the Wikipedia page he had printed out.
Its a shame really. The next generation of kids are just going to get dumber and dumber. I personally can't stand people who don't know there history. Its my favorite subject and all the history illiterate people should just go away.
Go back to Russia you commie bastard.
Kids = IRL Noobs Nuff said
Politics are understandably something people need to learn, but I never saw much point in History to be honest. I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to history, but I don't memorize dates or anything that specific. I know a few events and around the time they happened, and I think that's all I need to know. I'd rather spend more time learning about current sciences and technology, or current events. Rather than things that have come and gone that I can't (try to) help fix.

We can learn from things we have done in the past, in order not to make the mistake of doing them again.

I'm quite interested in politics but I couldn't care less about history. The future is far more interesting. Don't get me wrong, I know alot about history it's just that I don't care.
I got you all beat A girl in my US history class asked if America was communist. We live in America
I got you all beat A girl in my US history class asked if America was communist. Kids in my class also didn't know what a census was. ...or that Lewis and Clark was one person. Girl thought it was one person named Lewis Clark.
When I was in middle school I was put in college level courses(a level below honors, I'm in honors level now) because I suck rat tits at math, and in history(which I'm actually friggin boss at), when I knew where Germany was on the map, and when I knew why Adolf Hitler was infamous, they thought I was a genius. It actually makes you feel kind of good about yourself, being the smartest kid in your class, until you realize that you aren't ridiculously smart, everyone around you is just really fucking stupid. Not trying to sound cocky but as of now, I'm probably one of the best informed students in my classes when it comes to politics and history. That doesn't necessarily mean I know more than most of the people on this website though.
I like to thank the news section of the forum. If it wasn't for that section I would not know a lot of the things going on because I hate watching the news, but I love to browse facepunch. My teacher told her to go talk with the teachers, her response "I don't want to go talk to my teachers, their all like do your work." She is a dumbass.
Some kids in my class thought a picture of Jefferson Davis was actually Thomas Jefferson.
The two public schools that are named after Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee in my town are predominately black, it's weird.
The majority of kids don't take school serious until they are 16 or 17.
In my 5th grade class, a girl asked,"So, who won the civil war?"
My school is okay. I was the only one who knew what communism was when we were discussing Russia in geography, but I don't blame them for being ignorant about it seeing as I only learnt about it a few months ago... Well, there was that one time when some guy said we should just nuke Iraq and leave it as a giant crater. :geno:
That happens here a lot, because a majority of people here are retards who support republican views, are heavily religious, are xenophobic, homophobic, and probably racist. They have no idea what fascism truly is, or Communism. They also think Glenn Beck is a genius; Oh and these are my friends for fuck's sake I honestly can't express my opinion around them because I'm afraid they're too idiotic to understand, or will just simply deny cause I'm atheist and that's the only excuse they need.
Four years ago, learning about Greece and the 300 Spartans: Teacher: But the Spartans could withstand the arrow attacks because they were in a phalanx formation and they held their shields in front of them. Kid: But wait, how could a shield protect them? Teacher: Well the Spartan shields were heavily metaled and they could deflect many of the Persian's arrows. Kid: But why didn't the Persians use machine guns? I'm not even joking.
This just in: New borns don't know much about how to form proper words. Thanks captain obvious.
Why do they have to learn shit if they're just gonna get a nice ass spot on daddy's corporation as an executive, or better yet, a juicy inheritance? They're better off with an iPod than a diploma, but fear not, fellow worthy remnants of society, for jackasses tend to die pretty quickly. I just remain optimist to the day they all wipe eachother out.
My school was actually rated the top public school in my entire state, so the kids here are actually smarter than most. I'm lucky, I guess.
They just dont make kids like they did back in '56
They just dont make kids like they did back in '56
Yeah, but most of them would be in Europe fighting World War II, according to a guy in one of my classes.
