I finally landed a job, but it isn't anything cool or glamorous. I'm the front desk guy for the hotel next to the casino. $8.50 and hour, but enough hours to make it work, and manning a desk sounds bearable enough to not off myself.

Do you just check people in and answer the phone and shit like that?

It's at a shoe store so I can cop some sweet discounts. [editline]11th May 2012[/editline] But I think the guy is under the impression that I'm going to be working there for more than a year and I only intend on staying til August. Hehehe.
I'm making $10.25 (Canadian minwage) driving a tractor around and moving cartons for eight hours a day. I just looked it up and I'm actually pretty shocked that the federal minwage in the US is $7.25.

I could be wrong though all of this information was gathered from the prices on the cover of a book sitting next to me. [editline]12th May 2012[/editline] Just looked it up, and I guess I was wrong. Perhaps your country just isn't as full of lobbying corporations.

In Washington, minimum wage just got bumped to 9$. I still need a job.
I have a job but I buy the most useless shit I don't even know where all my money goes. It's a good thing I'm still in high school, if I lived on my own I'd be fucked.
That is an awful awful rate
I get $7.35. I am just 16 years old and just work in the produce department of my local grocery store.
That is an awful awful rate
that my friend is minimum wage
I applied all over the place for summer jobs, and I made it pretty clear that I can only start once school gets out the only 2 places that have called back so far have been like "well just call us when you're done with school and then we can set up an interview" why cant I do the interview now so I know if I have the job ahead of time, and just not start until school gets out in june? then I wouldn't have to wait, and I could continue looking in the meantime
that my friend is minimum wage
Minimum wage is like $9 here... Not fast food joints unless you arent picky. Resturants are always hiring.
I get $7.35. Minimum wage here is $8.00, I'm fortunate enough to make $9.00 but my employer shaves off my hours like none other just so he can get his bonuses. Whatever you do, try not to get stuck in a kitchen position in a restaurant. Terrible job. Fun at times, but you're gonna get jealous of the servers who walk off with $100+ per night
UK minimum wages (as dollars) work out at $9.77 for 21+ $8.00 for 18-20 $5.91 for 16-17 and to the best of my knowledge because school is compulsory up until the age of 16, any 'paid' work you do (which will automatically be part time) before you leave school is at the discretion of the employer. if you're lucky you could get some weekend hours at the local newsagents or a paper round or something, but actual employment under the age of 15 is quite rare in this country, and getting more than £3 an hour for it is rarer still. do other countries, like the US and australia, have similar age brackets for minimum wages, or is it just one blanket wage that covers everybody?
No girl's ahoy for me. The closest thing I have to a friend is my C programming book. I'll be living in seclusion till June. See you when my beard covers my chest!
for some reason i'm physically incapable of growing a beard. i just get like a weird dark fuzz and it doesn't go beyond that.
for some reason i'm physically incapable of growing a beard. i just get like a weird dark fuzz and it doesn't go beyond that.
it would be cool and all but the guys i know who can complain it hurts, babby face also requires less upkeep

Worst bit is that the people who hit on her are either 50+ or 11 (she's 17). I have a refereeing qualification so could referee and get £15-20 for 90 mins of the game (probably another 30 mins for getting there, getting back) and then half an hour writing up a report. I haven't reffed a game yet, I'm lazy and in no desperate need for money. I will probably get a job when I am 16 because it will at least help a bit with the no-experience-no-job no-job-no-experience problem.
A few months back I told a female friend that I liked her over Skype; she replied that she wasn't really attracted to me I only just realized I got textbook friendzoned. Huh.
you didnt't get friendzoned. you were always only a friend because she doesnt find you attractive... which she flat out told you
I don't have job but I repair computers and sell trips for money. When I finish middle school, I am gonna get some bad ass job.
you didnt't get friendzoned. you were always only a friend because she doesnt find you attractive... which she flat out told you
To me friendzone is being told that in an indirect way by the girl. [editline]12th May 2012[/editline]
it would be cool and all but the guys i know who can complain it hurts, babby face also requires less upkeep
Yeah, I did no-shave november last year and it was disgustingly itchy, and there's hair in the way so you can't scratch your skin, so you get irritated as fuck and can never get satisfaction. Then I went through three razors trying to shave it because I didn't have a beard trimmer. Plus my facial hair was red for some reason and my actual hair is brown.

minimum wage in MA is $8.00 each state is different though
I'm working two jobs right now. Sort of starting to feel the strain but I'm going to see how the first month of summer goes to see if I can keep that sort of work schedule.
