Somebody should get a bunch of guys together and remake this.
don't hit on me you silly boys
I vaguely remember playing with girls on some random gmod server once. Whenever anyone would talk to them they'd have a bitchy fit about guys hitting on them.
umm, so, you're a female who plays games, that's not something special, stop pretending that having a vagina means you're special just because you play games
stop
I'm getting tired of this stupid mentality that people have that makes women seem to be super "Unique" and "Different" just because they're a woman and play games. That's as retarded as a female being smug about being a cop... BECAUSE SHE'S A GIRL, and that's it, or a ginger being proud of being a teacher just because they're a ginger. You don't have this magical thing stopping you from playing games daily, so whats so special about it? I'm tired of this psychotic over-feminist double standard in society as well in general. Stop flaunting gender like it means you're better than everyone, it's pathetic, immature, and is exactly why people hate 'gamer girls' so much. Because it's a stupid attitude.
just stop
gender means jack shit

Amen.
I'm getting all the girls I know and making a reply
"Recently, the video “Gamer Girl Manifesto” has been making the rounds on the web.
It poses a problem: Girls are harassed by guys on the internet in games.
This is valid. Guys often do harass and annoy girls on the internet (even those who do not attract attention to themselves)
This party of “haters” is the minority in the community.
However, this problem is two-sided: Girls often attract attention to themselves.
The video states: “don’t judge me based on my ID”, “don’t judge me based on my avatar”, and “don’t judge me based on my voice”
It fails to acknowledge that these are the ways girls often attract attention to themselves because they want it.
Again, these “attention whores” are also the minority in the community. However both parties need to acknowledge that they do exist and they do affect the opinion of people, hence the sometimes negative connotation that goes along with the “gamer girl” tag.
So how do we solve these problems? How do you play the game as yourself and express yourself without attracting the ire of others? How do we clean the image of a girl playing games?
The other video says that you should call them out. I think that this just gives them more attention and more drive to hate. You are feeding the troll.
When I was a little kid, I was told to try to ignore bullies. Don’t talk back, just ignore them. This is a similar case. Ignore the haters. If you’re playing a source game, you can mute them. Do that. If you can’t? Switch servers. Think of them as being no more of a problem than a laggy connection or a bad admin.
If they follow you around and stalk you, report them. You have a fair case for harassment and any moderator or admin with half a brain will ban, kick, or mute said player.
Same applies to the girls who attention whore. Deprive them of any more attention than that you would give of any other player. Do that and they will hopefully go away. Mute them."
look, im fine with you playing, im fine that we are equals in this game, but when you throw the "Im a girl" card into the mix, thats when i am better than you, i will always be better than you until you accept the fact being a "girl gamer" is not a badge of* honor, its a sign that you are a fucking attention whore
So much fucking truth in one Youtube comment I have never witnessed before

That was the most beautiful youtube comment I have read.
[editline]26th December 2011[/editline]
While that doesnt take much because people keep making justin beiber jokes and HURDUR ARROW TO THE KNEE jokes, its still pretty awesome.
Every time I hear a girl online I mistake her for a child anyway.
Every time I hear a girl online I mistake her for a child anyway.
Yep. That's the issue I have.
internet problems ~
I've gotten 5 to sign on. Recording tomorrow
this shit is getting real
Must be a console/MMO thing to flaunt over gurl gamerz
I have a few on my steam friends and know quite a few most are pretty goove they just ignore the comments of "TAKE SHIRT OFF BOOBIES" if they appear in chat, which is rare.
Also if you don't fucking want to be treated differently on an online game for being a gamer gurl , don't act like a moron when stuff is going on. No when the zombie horde is coming do go "HAHAHA OMG OMG HAHAHAHA WTF IS WITH THESE CREEPS EWWW IT BARFED ON ME AHAHHA!" or "NO NO NO NO HE HAS AN UBER RUN RUN RUN AHAHAHA LOL!" that shit is annoying just play like the other 10-28 people in the server and play the damn game like a normal person

I expected it to be really dumb
and then it was my post, into a harsh shorter sentence
Give this man a metal.
Idiots like this make women look bad. I just don't use my mic and I try to make sure my account names are gender neutral. Because there are all these idiot women that go around doing the exact opposite most guys who play video games automatically think any girl playing a game are just as stupid. If they really don't want the attention they should just do like I do and don't broadcast it, their GURRRRRRRL GAMER 5EVER video isn't really helping.

only issue with your point of view is mic communication can be vital. certain RTS games and realism units require that, plus it's nice to be able to talk to other people on the server. the solution, as usual, is to ignore the people who flirt/hate. Mute them, bla bla bla
I'm tired of this psychotic over-feminist double standard
over-feminist?
there's nothing feminist about it at all.
but i do wonder if gamers, of which most of the vocal ones are male, would have such a strong reaction to gamers appearing to be really manly.
probably not considering it's the standard, so the only double standard i see is everyone having a dumb fit over people identifying themselves as a girl in games while anyone who is completely on the male side is just being normal.

so basically girls can't be girls on the internet, they have to not use microphones and can't have anything indicating themselves as girls.
this is getting more stupid post by post.
This is far from feminist
this is ANTI feminist if anything.

I think girls can be girls, just don't be "OH HI GUYS IM A GIIIRRL" and act like it does matter, because gender doesn't.
I like the idiot of an all female clan, however, it'd go badly by the types that think being a girl grants special privileges.
I think girls can be girls, just don't be "OH HI GUYS IM A GIIIRRL" and act like it doesn't matter, because gender doesn't.
i really don't see the harm in it and i don't think it's worth harassing people over it. at least the really annoying girl gamers don't go out of their way to hurt and be assholes to people they don't know anything about.
only issue with your point of view is mic communication can be vital. certain RTS games and realism units require that, plus it's nice to be able to talk to other people on the server. the solution, as usual, is to ignore the people who flirt/hate. Very true. Mic communication can be the difference between your team surviving, or being killed by the enemy. For example, on Killing Floor, it's basically character suicide to type out a message that there's 3 fleshpounds coming in.
i really don't see the harm in it and i don't think it's worth harassing people over it. at least the really annoying girl gamers don't go out of their way to hurt and be assholes to people they don't know anything about.
it's just they're easy troll bait and their reactionary attitude towards any sort of flaming gives "intelligent" girl gamers a bad image. That's what most people have against them. They don't go out of their way to hurt but they do make a bad image for most other girls just playing online for fun.
That and I think most people see them the same as 12 year old gamers, or the infamous Deviant Art anti-troll groups of the later 2000s. It's borderline flamebaiting. No one likes attention whores in any capacity on the net.
i really don't see the harm in it and i don't think it's worth harassing people over it.
Well its pretty annoying. Its like if I went into a server and started saying "hey guys i'm a black gamer yo, yo, yo I like hip hop and B-ball." If they truly want to not be harassed for it don't treat it like its special.
bla, final version of the script
feeedback?

It fails to acknowledge that these are the ways girls often attract attention to themselves because they want it. Girls can have a suggestive name, a good example is your channel name. Girls can talk suggestively. Girls can have suggestive avatars.
Again, these “attention whores” are also a minority in the female gaming community. However both parties need to acknowledge that they do exist and they do affect the opinion of people, hence the sometimes negative connotation that goes along with the “gamer girl” tag.
This is where the root of the problem resides. Both genders base their perception of the other gender on the actions of the negative minority.
So how do we solve these problems? How do you play the game as yourself and express yourself without attracting the ire of others? How do we clean the image of a girl playing games?
The other video says that you should call them out. It says you should stand up for what you believe in. There is a time and place for that. The internet is definitely not the place.
Think of them as being no more of a problem than a laggy connection, hacker, or a bad admin. Hackers are trolls too. Do you keep feeding them by letting them kill you?
If they follow you around and stalk you, report them. You have a fair case for harassment and any moderator or admin with half a brain will ban, kick, or mute said player.
Same applies to the girls who attention whore. Deprive them of any more attention than that you would give of any other player. Do that and they will hopefully go away. Mute them.
When it comes to the end of the day, a girl playing a game should be treated no different than a guy playing a game. That is the ideal we should work to.

Except advertising it as if it matters is essentially attention whoring and the same as joining a server and saying "Hey guys I'm a furry/like MLP/is X religion", it doesn't matter, just play the game like everyone else.
People are assholes because "Gamer girls" are being

when they should realize that... no one gives a damn. Do you really think I give a shit enough that you have to tell me? You don't have to tell me! just play the game, talk all you want... just don't be an ass and talk about how you're a girl and feel the need to be sarcastic about me as if I'm going to act surprised. When I respond "Who cares?" Shut up about it. Same goes with being X Gender, or X religion, or X race, don't tell me, I don't care.
I'm crying on the inside
this is just
no
shut the fuck up
and play the games
it's kind of hard to say no-one gives a damn while writing post and post about how much you don't give a damn.
Also calling yourself a gamer is pretty silly anyways.
Like playing games is so serious, you have to call yourself with a title for your favourite hobby.
sounds like the most underachiever-ish title ever.
I'm fine if a woman uses her microphone in a game, what I'm not fine with is when their voice is that of a small child or they talk like 8th graders.
