OP is dumb as balls. If you don't want to hear about the army then toughen up and stop reading the threads, there are people here who actually consider it to be an achievement and something to be proud of.
These guys are willing to serve your country and that's what matters, giving them shit is incredibly disrespectful. Imagine what it would be like if your country didn't have a military at all - especially one like America. You'd get in so much shit. I'd like to see some of you even try and do basic training.
And anyway, basic training is the first step and its a whole hell of a lot further than most of the people whinging about it are going to get, and it means you're willing so screw anyone who complains, these guys have a right to be satisfied if they did it. They deserve even more respect when they go server but that doesn't mean they dont deserve any now.
Tl;dr fucking whingers

See this is what I hate. Saying that in some way, they're serving the country more then I am because they choose to join the military. Like I said, if my country was attacked, I would fight to defend it.
Those threads are a shit load better than this fucking rant thread
Dude you are the biggest faggot ever. Those posts could be their last posts EVER and you're gonna sit back enjoying the freedoms of America while they're out making sure they're there so you can stay at home and ridicule them. Fuck you. Every person in the Army could probably whoop your ass you Matrix fuckin wannabe. You are a disgrace to this fuckin country. Like seriously how can you honestly say you respect the military and then make fun of the guys in it. You are without a doubt the dumbest 16 year old I've ever known. Go fuck yourself.
To be fair, we do get a lot of threads about it.
Good for you, you joined the armed forces, just like all the other recruits. Just becasue you joined the army and made a thread doesn't mean I am going to respect you any more than any of the non FP recruits out there.
If you save someone and heroically get a medal for it, then i will want to read about it on FP
See this is what I hate. Saying that in some way, they're serving the country more then I am because they choose to join the military. Like I said, if my country was attacked, I would fight to defend it.
Who in the flying fuck are you even defending? That's exactly what we are doing in this situation, we were attacked in the United States on 9/11. So we go and defend our country against future attacks from people who will try to harm us. Your saying the exact same thing that the people in the "Army" threads are doing. God your retarded. Of course they are serving their country more than you are, they are going to the source to get rid of it which is even more brave. "Oh hell they can go over there and kill the majority but god forbid they come here I am ready to fight the weak ones." Obviously if that person joins the Military sooner they are a hell of a lot less than a pussy than you are and they are most certainly serving the country longer and more than you are. Who the hell is protecting the country so your ass doesn't have to defend it? Your military is.
But yea, your just as annoying as that steaming pile of shit on the top of page 1.
Testabar is an Active Duty Service member.
Listen, in alot of my army career I didn't do a whole lot. I did spent quite a bit of my time in the front leaning rest, but that is another story.
But what a service member does is sacrifice there personal freedoms. So that others my enjoy theirs'. Like Freedom of Speech, Protest, and Press. Speaking our mind or beliefs could cost us our career. Just look at what happened to 1st Lt. Danial Choi.
We are property. Government property. When Brigade signed me over to my unit, they signed a DA 2062, a Hand Receipt. The same formed used to issue a weapon, or any other item of issue to a soldier. Here is another example, if I get Sun Burned, I could get UCMJ action against me and given an Article 15 for "Damage to Government Property". And yes, it is true.
Do I deserve to be put on some fucking pedestal and paraded threw the streets like a hero? Hell no! We are held to a higher standard than your average citizen. It is that example we could always fallow and help guide our action. We are the ambassadors of the American people, our action and words can do good, or make us look like a bunch of retards. And further prove the stereotyp of the "Big Dumb Stupid Ignorant Americans" Like the Marine who threw the puppy off a cliff, or the soldier who made the little Afghan kids say they were gay terrorist. Or the stories I hear of guys throwing piss bottles and watching the kids drink them. These are just rare examples.
I feel humble to be a soldier. To fallow in the footsteps of my dad, my grandfather, and his father, and so on. I'm Damn proud of that to. I don't feel obligated to any special treatment. Hell, I hardly even use a military discount of a store offers it. I am here on my own accord.
Coming from a small town perspective, joining the army doesn't even phase me, loads of people, including more than one close friend, did it. Making a thread about joining to army to me seems like making a thread about getting into college. It's weird when I have to feign some special respect for everyone who makes a thread like that.
See this is what I hate. Saying that in some way, they're serving the country more then I am because they choose to join the military. Like I said, if my country was attacked, I would fight to defend it.
You get my respect too. But that doesn't mean people should bag people out for being glad that they completed basic training.
wake up one morning
decided to become soldier
Why would anyone brag about joining the army?
I don't have particularly strong feelings for people for joining the army. It's just another job in my honest opinion. Nothing wrong with them making a thread saying "I'm off for a bit, might die, seeya guys!" though.
There's nothing honorable about killing talibans and civilians so that your government can control the oil supplies.
"Defending the Freedom of America", what a joke. The last war in which you fought to "defend your freedom" was WWII.
ITT: OP complains while sitting in his chair on the computer that real life badasses are clogging his internet forum because they're too busy not sitting in computer chairs and too busy being badass.
It kinda is a huge accomplishment.
I know here in Australia getting in alone is a huge accomplishment, let alone getting through IMT and IET.
The respect the thrive for is the same kind of respect that Taliban terrorists get from their people.
Think about it.

The last one was actually either the civil war or the war against GB since those were the last ones fought on American territory.
Army welcome you with open 'arms' and joining isn't an accomplishment. It's a walk-in careers office and you can go in with no knowledge of what you want to do, and they will personally walk you through it. The mathmatics and literacy tests are KS2 and the B.A.R.B test questions are, "Jimmy is faster then Tom, who is slower? You can go in without GCSE's and drive a tank or be AAC (Army Air Corps) ground crew. The amount of jobs you can do for someone who dropped out of school is overwhelming and has little to be desired back in the civilian world. It will take you over a week to sive through them all. Royal Armour Corp regiments (16), Infantry regiments (18) alone in BA and alot hold their own roles.
The accomplishment is on the battlefield soldier.
you hate america
This reminds me of the satire video review of the "most realistic war FPS simulator ever"
HAUL AROUND EQUIPMENT.
SIT AROUND WAITING FOR ORDERS.
HAUL SOME MORE EQUIPMENT.
SIT AROUND SOME MORE WAITING FOR ORDERS.
GET LOST FROM YOUR SQUAD IN THE DESERT AND GET SHOT IN THE BACK.
Joining the Army is great and all but until I see you do something like Linelor did (or the real Linelor did) I'll respect you.

The ADF seems to hold higher standards then I suppose.

it is. at least in comparison to the small contribution to the world you will make during your pitiful existence.
it is. at least in comparison to the small contribution to the world you will make during your pitiful existence.
Nope, being in the army pretty much means you weren't qualified enough for the real jobs, so it's hardly an accomplishment.
because rambo is not real and you are a child
now this is the problem with FP
To be honest it's a general discussion thread. It does belong here, I'm sick of travel threads.. why do I care where YOU are going? Oh wait, because it's kinda cool to know where people are visiting and why. Same with military, they are sharing something they are a part of. There just has been a few of them (I think 2, a 3rd being bumped by someone when the guy who made it also had a thread of him coming back this week) so it's not even that bad, they aren't parodies or anything. Normal threads. I get sick of all these "I hate this type of thread because there's so many" threads because it just makes GD worse.
The ADF seems to hold higher standards then I suppose.
Probably does although everyone has to go through recruitment physical requirements as well as. The british army fitness requires you to be capable of 44 push ups in two minutes, 55 situps in the same time and a 1.5 mile run in a time limit depending on the corps, 9 to 14 minutes). Level 10.2 beep test.
That is NOT the phase 1 training regime but for entry for enlisting where 1.5 miles can change to 6 miles. Have to lure 'em in some how.

I shall now present to you: NerdRage Chapter One: Internet.
Herp this reminds me of a thread wher the guy went to join the IT part of the army and all he did was sit in a base at a computer in an air conditioned room.
We dont care if you join the army your not badass or special just get over it.

You can't justify supporting the troops then hating on those who don't go into the armed forces. The army is there (supposedly) to help sustain the values that their countrymen get to benefit from.
In disrespecting the people whom the military defends, you too are trivialising their job.

The army is there to support your fundamental rights as citizens of American democracy, one of which is free speech.
edit: post seems kind of contradictory now - shit.
