Why do manufacturers insist on cramming as much useless shit into a car as possible?
Come to Minnesota in the dead of winter and then say that. -10 F or colder is normal here.
I live in Norway, have no idea how cold -10 F is but we get down to -40 C normally and I've never used the heated seats in the Volvo ever
also this was my first post as a 20 year old :D
(-40) degrees Celsius = -40 degrees Fahrenheit
We've had that regularly here too

Minnesota is basically Norway in America
Without power heated seats how can you play the heat seat game with others in the car
How is that played?
I think they put all this shit on the cars to get people to buy them rather than going for used cars.
Think about it, the average cookie-cutter car today is economical, good looking, and a good drive. The thing is, used cars are only slightly less good looking, equally as good to drive (depending on the car), and equally as economical. Most importantly, however, is that they are loads cheaper. With the economy in the shitter, buying a used car would be the obvious choice. As a result, car manufacturers are putting all these features onto their cars to try and jump on the whole "I must constantly be fudging with some electronic device" digital age bandwagon. Not only that, but doing this also makes cars from the 90's look like boring, antiquated econo-boxes.
I mean hell, look at the Kia Soul. If you took all the useless electronic gadgets off of it it's the same basic economy compact car formula that's been used since the late eighties. :v:

I assume its when you turn on the passenger's heated seat and see how long it takes them to notice it.
Oh look at this

you can get fucking sport updates in a Dodge Ram!
Recently I've been noticing, cars went from which one looks the best (they're all the bloody same looking now), or which ones perform the best, to 'how much useless gimmicky shit can we cram into the car?'
I mean for fucks sake i just saw a commercial for a Kia or Hyundai or some bullshit and it had power-folding mirrors. When the fuckity fuck am i going to use that?
For fucks sake, I just want a stripped down, good looking car, that performs well, and drives like it's on rails. I don't give a rats hairy ass about heated seats or a TV screen or whatever the fuck.
I think power-folding mirrors could have it's applications, obviously it doesn't apply to most consumers but since they can't afford to build cars custom-tailored to each consumer and having a billion models would be confusing, they just put it in their cars.
They try to make vehicles all-purpose rather than having 100 different models of the same car.

It's a Ram. Look who buys those. But either way, that's not adding any extra weight and would be removed if you ever put a different head unit in it.

I see that as simply adding features to an existing unit what's wrong with that
Could you turn off the car while someone else is driving? That'd be great if your car got stolen and you can put it in some kinda shutdown mode.
Onstar does that.

I don't speak for all remote start devices, but as for the one on my parents' car, you can start it remotely, but it'll kill the engine if you put it in gear without the key in the 'on' position
[editline]wef[/editline]
lol just realized that doesn't answer your question sorry
so no, you wouldn't be able to turn off the car, because if the person was driving, the key would be in place
Long Live the Jeep Wrangler!
The reason it's there is because people want that kind of stuff. It may seem stupid to you, but other people find it pretty handy, especially when they have a lot of money to spend. For people like you, is why they still have base model cars, and for people who like all of the gimmicky useless shit, they have the luxury models that come with every gadget imaginable.
Personally, I'm still waiting for a toilet drivers seat. You wouldn't need to stop at rest areas or gas stations to take a shit.
i'm tired of fucking subaru putting stupid useless gadgets in their cars

Voice recognition.
What were these people thinking?

Voice recognition is nice when it actually works, but it usually doesn't so yeah :v:

:O
I just turned 20 on Sunday.
Voice recognition is nice when it actually works, but it usually doesn't so yeah :v:
Sort of funny. Everyone bitches about Microsoft Sync never working for them with voice recognition. For me, its USUALLY spot on, unless I have to say an artist or song or something with a strange pronunciation.
Probably because I actually ENUNCIATE the words. Or I will say words literally how they are spelled, rather than how they are said.

when my parents were test driving the new ford focus, the voice recognition worked perfectly, but we didnt go for it anyway

The voice recognition in my dad's Honda rarely ever works.
If you say "Find restaurants", it'll search for hospitals, or gas stations.
My dads Acura has no idea what you ever say.
If you say something like "Zagat, Casual Dining" It would direct you to a gas station or something. Not a Casual eating chain.
I hate in when people who don't give a fuck about cars somehow get their hands on something amazing.
There's this chick at my school who's dad bought her a Porsche 911 Coupe from 1970

She doesn't know how anything works, is a total whore, and COMPLAINED because the car was "too old"
im stealing it
Does she know how awesome her car is or does she think it's "just an old car"?
Does she know how awesome her car is or does she think it's "just an old car"?
Knowing most girls, the latter.
Men are better.

I would never EVER show up to school in a nice old car like that. It's inevitable, it'll get dinged or scratched. When my brother drove to school, he got all four corners of the car scratched and scraped. On the family car and on his own when he got one later on.
It's kind of an unspoken law that if you drive your car to school, you will drive it home in worse condition then it went.
And thats why Im scared of driving the Cobra to school.... :/ Thanks for scaring me everyone...

Second day I drove my car to school in my high school junior year, some idiot backed into the rear quarter panel as he was texting.
Now, I park in the corner spot at my college and blare my horn at anyone that dares get within three feet of me. :v:
In my freshman year, my friend just parked in his spot and some guy in a Cobalt hits the back of his car. My friend got out and kicked his headlight in.
