• Why do manufacturers insist on cramming as much useless shit into a car as possible?
My truck would be classified as a small/light duty truck (not a mini-truck) and it would be fucking massive on you brit's roads.
down country B roads maybe
The cars I got here at home have nothing special. The Fiat (god I hate Fiat) has AC, electric windows (front only) and mirrors (only to position the mirror, not to snap them) The Corsa i got has only electric windows and AC, if that even is AC, since its in basically every car i've ever had. Then I got an older Corsa that has NONE of those, only some kind of AC, which is busted, and then my aunt's car (one of those god ugly nissan micra) has just about everything. AC, seat warmer, electric windows, dunno about electric mirrors though. I didn't like the seat warmer at all. First, it looks like I'm sick and just shat on my underwear a big pile of liquid shit. Then it seems to give my ass tumors or at the very least makes it feel fucking unconfortable, and then it actually gets sweaty. Simply hated it. Why do we need seat warmers anyway? The power folding mirror thing is SOOO much more useful then that and it doesnt gives you ass cancer. (not that it does, it just feels really unconfortable)
My car has traction control (lol 90's traction "control") but i like to turn it off cos skiddies. and i think that's about it in tyte luxuries, yo.
My geo metro is so goddamn basic I can't even adjust my steeringwheel, let alone stuff like power windows or cruise control, and this car was from 1998. And yet, its a great little car. It does all the important stuff really really well. Great MPG, reliable, good cargo, yet small size. Sure it takes forever to get to 60, but I can get there and maintain it just as easy as any other car. Best part about it was it was dirt cheap too. Because of that, I can live with having un adjustable seatbelts, cruise control, and the fact that it has running lights (UGH) I don't think automakers realize just how successful they would be with that kind of model. A large share of the world would much rather have a nice solid and well made no-frills car that does the important stuff right for dirt cheap, at the cost of luxuries and other bullshit that just makes auto maintinence bills skyrocket through the roof in the end. Hell, its why the Model T was the car that started the whole industry pretty much. It was an everyday car that everyone could afford and was practical.
Do your running lights turn off if you pull the ebrake one click? dats what my poontiac does
Speaking of stupid shit, About 3 months ago after my grandfather crashes his 2009 lexus, you know what he does? He buys a Lexus IS-F :I
2009 lexus
Which Lexus? IS?
Which Lexus? IS?
IS 250.
Mother of God.
Mother of God.
The past few crashes have resulted in buying more expensive lexus cars [sp]I still wonder how he has the cash to buy this stuff[/sp]
The past few crashes have resulted in buying more expensive lexus cars [sp]I still wonder how he has the cash to buy this stuff[/sp]
Probably some discount for buying another car from the same brand or something. Or just filthy rich. Kinda like my godfather. Nothing too fancy, had a opel astra sedan from 94, then a golf mk4 (dunno if new, but he sure did hold on to it for a bit) and now what seems to be a brand new Passat estate. While he has that, my dad has had the same Fiat Uno (him and the fucking Fiat) for more then 15 years, then got a Hyundai Accent for a while so my mom could have the shitty working Fiat, and then resold both and got ANOTHER Fiat, this time a Punto from 04 and a Corsa from 98 for my mom. All of those were used cars, except for the Uno, which was new, but was dirt cheap back then. Shitty ass cars, but oh well. That Uno went a long way but had alot of trouble towards the end.
Do your running lights turn off if you pull the ebrake one click? dats what my poontiac does
They do. Good idea, if it wasn't for the fact that it also engages my brake lights (I'm pretty sure).
What is an ebrake? I don't think my car has one? (Might be because neither myself nor the car is American)
Emergency Brake, most cars have them actually, especially manuals since its the only way you can have your car in park basically while the car is idle for those.
What is an ebrake? I don't think my car has one? (Might be because neither myself nor the car is American)
handbrake
handbrake
Ah thanks. The brake lights don't light up on my car when the handbrake/ebrakes activated?
Automakers respond to where the money is in the market. And the money is in flashy features that appeal to people who don't know shit about cars. You guys have to understand that 90% of the car-buying market is made up of people that view driving as a chore and cars as appliances. They want them to look nice, flash their wealth to other people, and have gimmicky features. Therefore, that's what automakers build.
