I can see what your getting at but copyright ingringement =/= theft.
It's making a copy, not taking the only one.
Or it never actually happened and you're just pulling things out of your ass because you didn't expect anybody to debate this with you.
You clearly don't know how much a lawyer costs. Nobody would hire one over a nonprofit thing, because even if you SOMEHOW got money out of it, you wouldn't even break even with all the fees you'd have to pay.
I guess i stop commenting on this thread then. And no I'm not pulling anything outta my ass.
Our opinions are just completely different sided that is all lol.
It's also worth noting that there are videos like the one I made all over youtube, barely any of them have been taken down.
They generally need to be reported, or just spotted by the company. They don't go on sweeps and delete as many as possible.
Does anybody know of a site that I could upload it on, and not have it taken down?
Thanks!

No, you have a jaded view and seem to think that if you make no profit, you can just ignore any and all notices by the copyright holder. They pay money so they can regulate that.

Jaded view is your opinion. Make no profit? Oh you mean the agreements? Well fuck dude I'm pretty damn sure money was involved of course i never intended to discard that no profit was made.
Anyway like i said I'll stop now.
The solution is to stop using Youtube and encourage others to do the same.
Like everything good on the internet corporate interests butted their way in and took control, and after literally everyone started putting up 'no play/show' lists after WMG did, and their bullshit copyright claim policies, there is no longer any reason to use Youtube.
Go find another video site.

No, the no profit is that you're arguing about making a non-profit youtube video and complaining when it gets taken down. If I was talking about the agreements, it would be negative profit.

Ah Okay.

Yeah.
That says nothing about getting lawyers, or even getting videos back up. That says that when you get your shit taken down, go to another site.

If you can't afford a lawyer or more of your videos get taken down find another upload host.
NOW I'm done. :psyduck:
Will anybody answer my question?

No, it literally says to leave youtube, and find another site.

Try Metacafe.
Not sure if they still do it, but you can actually make money when you get a bunch of views.
Are you an idiot?
Come on, it was a music video tribute to fight club. I didn't take credit for it, if anything, I'm helping FOX.
Seriously... i've heard that excuse hundreds of times. jesus christ.

Fuck off. I wasn't taking credit, asshole. Don't start accusing me of shit.
Fuck off. I wasn't taking credit, asshole. Don't start accusing me of shit.
It's still their copyright, they can virtually do what they want.
I agree with you man 100%. Your basically promoting their shit for free, your not going to make money off of it. There is no reason for that shit, it also peeves the youtubers such as myself when we want to see a vid but there is no sound.
I really doubt that. What argument do they have?
"I TOOK SOME COPYRIGHTED FOOTAGE, AND MANIPULATED IT EVEN THOUGH IT SAID THAT I CAN'T, AND THOSE GREEDY BASTARDS TOOK IT DOWN!" :byodood:
Fox probably just doesn't want the bother of a legal case.
Fuck off. I wasn't taking credit, asshole. Don't start accusing me of shit.
When big companies like Fox are partnered with youtube, they get money every X views, or something like that. When you post it, they get nothing.
Is it really so hard to understand? They own the copyright, they say you can't do X, so don't fucking do X.
I miss Stage6. :(
Make a disclamainer saying, I DO NOT OWN *****
Make a disclamainer saying, I DO NOT OWN *****
That won't do shit. You still violated the terms printed saying you cannot manipulate it.
If you video tape something at the movies, does putting "I DON'T OWN THIS LOL!!!" make it all better? No.
Also,

I love how you blindly defend fat, greedy, money-hungry corporations.
"Aww wahhh we don't get money from youtube even though we are one of the richest companies in the U.S., aww boo hoo"

But you are stealing the use of the material,
since the only other way to get the use would be to buy from the provider.

I'm not defending them, and if I am, I sure as hell am not blindly defending them. I never once said it was right, fair, or justified. I said that's how it is, and if you don't like it, then don't get involved with it.
Even if they DO have a shitload of money, and they do, it still doesn't make it right to violate the terms. Hell, Fox probably has potential grounds to take you to court if you kept at this seeing as how it violates their copyright terms and agreements.
Yeah, some of the ways corporations use copyrights are shit but get rid of copyrights and authors can't make any money.

Yeah, you are. You don't seem to give a fuck that you're slave to their bullshit.
Whatever happened to appreciation?
Take MDotStrange, for example. He spent 2 or 3 years working almost all by himself, every day, devoting his blood and sweat into his film. Only to have it rejected by the mainstream audience. At first, he made very very little money, and compared to what most movie companies make for their movies, he made extremely little. And guess what? He he doesn't give a fuck what people do with his movie, as long as they don't take credit for it. People make hundreds of music videos as tribute to his movie. He doesn't take them down, he feels lucky that people are actually willing to put time into making AMVs out of his movie. And he doesn't want money for each view those videos get.

So by your defenition, anyone who makes a film should have no choice into whether or not someone can put parts of it up for public view?

The thing about companies like Fox is that you got it in your head that the CEO of Fox takes in all of the income from everything and takes it home to his private vault while twirling his mustache like a cartoon villain. In reality, there's thousands of employees who's income comes off of the profits made from Youtube among other things. That's why they're quite strict about it.

That's an example of the generic "FIGHT THA SYSTEM MAN!" type of person. Had he made a lot of money off of it to begin with, I can almost guarantee you that he wouldn't have the same attitude about people taking his work and manipulating it.
And you just told him to read above, do you even know what you're quoting, or do you just quote anything that disagrees with you? He said that without the copyrights etc, they wouldn't make much money. You just said yourself that he didn't get much money from it and he's just happy it's noticed.
So now you're blindly defending breaking agreements just because the agreement holder "has enough money". Oh the irony.
And I'm not a "slave to their bullshit". I respect that they bought and own the rights, and don't want people to do things with what they own. Again, I never said I agree with it, think it's right, or anything of that nature. I simply respect the fact that its theirs.
