What about "fair use" doctrine?
We're potentially broadcasting their audio track because it's being put public. Which I guess isn't allowed unless you have the rights to do so.
So by your defenition, anyone who makes a film should have no choice into whether or not someone can put parts of it up for public view?
He does have a choice. He chooses not to.
Okay, so I just spent 2 fucking hours uploading a 4 minute video, only to get this message.
This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by FOX.
What the fucking shit?
Come on, it was a music video tribute to fight club. I didn't take credit for it, if anything, I'm helping FOX.
In the description, I even put I do not own the music or the footage in this video. Fight Club (c) 20th Century Fox Where is my mind? (c) The Pixies.
Does anybody else hate this bullshit??
Just because you added the last line, you didn't ASK them if you could use it.
That's an example of the generic "FIGHT THA SYSTEM MAN!" type of person. Had he made a lot of money off of it to begin with, I can almost guarantee you that he wouldn't have the same attitude about people taking his work and manipulating it.
And you just told him to read above, do you even know what you're quoting, or do you just quote anything that disagrees with you? He said that without the copyrights etc, they wouldn't make much money. You just said yourself that he didn't get much money from it and he's just happy it's noticed.
So now you're blindly defending breaking agreements just because the agreement holder "has enough money".
Whatever man, I can see that you're pretty greedy too. What you don't understand is that people are too materialistic these days. All this shit, computers, money, Televison, we would be better off without. You don't seem to have an appreciation for art, either. Everything revolves around "having enough money". It really doesn't.

You really do seem to have taken on what Tyler Durden said in the movie. Yet it's a good point.

So because I can grasp the concept that we've moved past the time where we had no electronics, and bartered for everything, I'm greedy and have no respect for art? I'm an indie film maker. I don't get jack shit when I make a movie, and I'm lucky if I break even. Just because I don't agree with the concept of taking something that somebody else owns and manipulating it even though you don't get anything from it doesn't mean I'm some fat greedy pig who dreams of being the CEO of some major company so I can look at all the people cry when I take their videos down.
And if we're so well off without materialistic things, why don't you go live off of nature in the woods. FYI: If it wasn't for the greedy pigs that make movies, you would have never gotten the chance to see\read Fight Club, and wouldn't be basing your morals and ideas off of a god damn story.

While this may be true, my values follow a basic premise that has existed before Fight Club. I had these morals before I knew Fight Club even existed, so fuck off. Just because I like a Book doesn't mean I get everything from it.

Mate, you need to relax. Telling people to fuck off won't get you anywhere. He is pretty much right though. The companies earn the money so they can stay afloat, so that their employees can feed themselves and their families. Don't be pissed because they're enforcing their rules.

I somehow doubt this seeing as how Fight Club came out in '99 when the technology and advancements you're saying we'd be much better off without was still just starting to become bigger and more widespread.
Plus you seem to word it almost exactly like Tyler does.

I'm not against the people trying to feed their families. It makes absolutely no difference if the videos are there. The videos that are cleared for release are still getting views and the company is still making money. They don't lose money because there are videos that they don't get paid for.

No, if you take it and manipulate it, they don't get jack shit for the views unless the people watching go buy the dvd\vhs.
My point is that you're claiming to have not only believed the exact same morales before it came out, and I mean word for word exact, but you claim that you believed it before it was actually something that needed to be believed in. In '99 the technology advancement was hardly big, and not something that we would be better without. Hell, with the things invented then aside from luxury things we became MUCH better off.

Hurr edit.
My point is still that you believed it word for word before it came out, and that the time period that you believed in it, the only people that really believed in it were the people who were paranoid as fuck, and that the things made then were GOOD for us compared to what we make now, because now that we have the bases covered, we mostly make luxury things.

Although I believed in non materialistic values before I knew about Fight Club, it doesn't mean that I can't build on those values based on the words of an influential fictional character.
Is that fucking straightforward enough for you?

So you're admitting that you base your morales off of a movie that was funded and is still owned by the very same thing you claim to be against.
You have to be the most hypocritical person I've seen on this forum.
And instead of hotlinking to that, just use :ughh:
Step 1: Get a gun, large caliber, preferably fully automatic.
Step 2: Go to Fox's corporate headquarters.
Step 3: Storm the lobby, while screaming and firing wildly into the air.
Step 4: ????
Step 5: PROFIT!!!
This is exactly why they have John McClane hiding in the air ducts at Fox Plaza
The bottom line is, they own it, they can do whatever they want with it. Just because you don't agree with it and can pull things out of your ass for an argument doesn't justify you breaking the agreement.

I've heard if you change the pitch of a song by like 3-4% in audacity (free program) then Youtube doesn't detect the audio patterns it's looking for, so that might work.

That makes no sense, the videos are manually removed for one, the thing was removed by FOX for the VIDEO, and that still doesn't make it right, the company probably has grounds to sue for you using it without permission and manipulating it in a way that allegedly makes it harder for them to find.

Wow, you are a terrible reader. Youtube has a program that searches for a certain audio pattern automatically whilst the video is being uploaded, that's why sometimes it takes audio down immediately once it's uploaded.

Again, you're basing, or at least building ideas off of the very thing you claim to be against.
Even if you're right about this one argument over ideas\morales, you still are wrong about it being legal or right for you to manipulate something you aren't supposed to.
Why don't you go fucking buy the rights from fox, and then make it free, that's the ONLY way that you will be able to be right in this, unless Fox for some reason releases it for free themselves.

So you work for youtube and know?
A lot of the times they have somebody watching the movies. That's why it takes so long for the video for be allowed, not because they scan it. If they did that it would not only cost them out the ass, but it is easily manipulated as shown by this.
It isn't even plausable. It would have to have a copy of each and every song that cannot be used, and would have to match the upload against each song until it either found a match, or concluded that it was not something that wasn't allowed.

No, really they have a program doing most of it. I once uploaded a video that was taken down because it had a song that I wasn't aloud to use. It took 30 seconds to upload. I uploaded it a second time, but the audio was reversed. It never got taken down.

No, but he would probably need a publishing company.
And did you know that you can't take a clipping directly from the book either without permission?
Again, even if you're right about this, you're wrong about the main argument of how the copyright claims are bullshit. You're basically saying that even though the company paid MILLIONS of dollars for the rights, they don't have the right to do what they feel they should with it.

Once again, read carefully. It never got taken down. If that particular video was getting screened (not saying that others don't, because alot do) it would have been taken down. It's not that hard for them to reverse a song. Also, a four minute video does not take 30 seconds to review.

Durrr. I was talking about the one I reversed that was not taken down, which was scanned. :downs:
Like I said, some are scanned, some are reviewed, dipshit.
They would have removed it if it was reviewed, because they would have reversed the song.
