But simplistic design feels like a lazy way of doing things, and most was just fine how it was.

There's a difference between just change and this. This layout is really terrible and uncomfortable.
Why is it not centered? It's really awkward to use a website that's not centered or watch videos on top left side. It takes about 3 clicks to get to your sub box. You have to do that every time you go to homepage, that's just terrible.
This is not about looking different and getting used to, this is about horrible ergonomics of this whole thing. It's anti-innovative. Couldn't care less about white color theme, but come on, off center bullshit, it's just weird.
I don't see why they couldn't center it seeing as even if you have small screen, the shit would still be at the same time, now if you got a wide screen, then center is very good. Even though google owns YT, this update really feels like some external company came over and messed around with code.

Is it just me or you can't hide videos from subscriptions? I have some videos I don't want to watch wasting space and when I use [B]Hide activity[/B] then refresh the videos are still there. It worked with the old layout.

Looks like they did listen, I noticed a few updated things done after the layout change

For one thing on videos, to the left of the video is a "..." button, you can click that to see other videos uploaded before and after the video you're watching

I think their approach is to suddenly update the layout, bathe in the tidal wave of complaints, and then start fixing things

brilliant! I honestly don't understand why do they change the layout so often. And even though in general I like this one a bit more than the last one (even though both are awful), now, it forces even more different videos over the stuff I'm subscribed to and when you watch some videos, you cannot preview other videos of that channel on the top. Bleh.
