Well if you didn't know,
ZUN made some good games called the Touhou series, but the art was kind of childish and bad, but the music and game were fantastic. So fans started drawing their own versions of the characters.
and then everyone [otakus and then 6 years later weeaboos] turned it into a cult, the smart ones used the 'touhou brand' to make money selling pretty much anything at comike.
