http://mansurovs.com/what-is-bokehScroll down towards "Good vs Bad Bokeh". There are some example pictures that show the difference. It states that good bokeh has "smooth round circles of light and no hard edges". Hope this helps a little!
didn't mean to rate you late! meant to be a love heart but I'm on my phone so its hard to use the ratings. sorry
At least he gets outside.
Forests are good places to be. Why not spend your time there?
Also, Morocco update. Last full day today. Been hiking in the Atlas mountains the past few days. Got lost and stumbled across a little Berber village. Invited into a local's house for mint tea and fresh walnuts. We then followed him and his mule for a few km's to the next village and he pointed us in the right direction. Almost didn't make it off the mountain before the sun set and the cold kicked in. Needed to hitchhike the last few km's back on a truck to the alpine hostel we were staying in.
Hashish, good company, great landscapes and weather. Good trip.
The whole time hiking I only took 4 shots on my dslr. Been taking plenty of film though. Exciting stuff.
Pretty sure all the pictures I posted in that post were outside..
Your bokeh doesn't look very "creamy" (I believe that's the correct term). Maybe you were going for that look though?
To answer your question, i wasn't really going for a certain 'look' as it were. I was merely taking random shots a plants to get a sort of feel for how to do nature photography.
Personally, i like the bokeh that my lens creates, i think reason it might not be as 'creamy' as others is the fact that it is 20-25 years old. Or does that not make a difference?
how do you crop a photo without it losing its quality? or is the problem my camera settings

While this didn't come out as nice as I wanted it to (have had the idea for a while and attempted once before), I just need to get something out. I'm worried I'm getting far too critical of myself. CC guys?
Those first 2 boat shots are lovely... but lose the watermark.
Salmon - I'm not confident enough with giving CC, but I think the photo is nicely composed. Just thought my comment is better than none. I really like it.

It shall be done.
The first one in particular is fantastic, were you on a boat taking these?
The watermark thing just makes it feel a little tacky. Also, why aren't these on flickr? There's some pretty bad compression on them, especially around the watermark.

I love the two first ones, but the last one looks a little dark and gray!
I agree with Scotchair though, lose the watermark.

Don't really have anything other than the word "Reflection" to say about this picture.
All of these were taken in Maine in 2010.
Can't remember the camera, it was a Nikon of some sort.

Why thank you. I'll definitely eliminate the watermark. I will also post them to flickr very soon. I reformatted and didn't set up lightroom yet, I usually upload them from there. Anyhow, no I was actually standing on a bridge with a tripod.
[editline]11th January 2012[/editline]
As far as the last one, I just thought it was cool because it was a bit different. It was too white when I first took it. I'm not one for the painterly effect, but I might upload the original. I have mixed feelings about it. Wanted a second opinion.
First roll of film developed! I think they came out pretty OK.
all photos haven't been altered at all, even though (especially the first one) really needs to brighten up abit..

Not really it just makes the page lag without seeing a big image.
