I've been meaning to get out and take some night shots of the city like this. Tamron 17-50 should be arriving within a few hours so maybe I'll just have to do that tonight. I wonder how many people who regular this thread actually are from the Metro Vancouver area. Rate my post agree if you are. All these cat photos make me a bit sad because I grew up with an amazing cat and can't really look after one in uni, gotta wait till after graduation. :<
My brother's nikkor 24mm 1.4 came in today so I toyed around with it for 5 minutes
Christ the night those are some juicy shots. My Sassy disappeared for a few months at one stage but thankfully showed up a bit rough and under-fed looking, probably the happiest day of my childhood. I'm not quite sure about the focus on run boy, if it could be better with the focus on him or the foreground. I don't feel that many of your subjects are very interesting, example the rock, flower thing and chain fence. The green contrasting the ground is nice, murk has a great colour and feel to it but it could be much more with a subject. The photos with people in them feel somewhat cramped and don't register much in terms of scale if that makes sense? You've cut a few of the branches of the large tree photo of as well with too tight of framing as well so always keep this in mind. Sunset field and January sunset are very nice shots. Hope that's useful.
I apologize for the watermark, I know it's not the best out there. I'm still getting used to shooting entirely on manual (focus also).
why have a watermark they make you look like a pretentious twat and why use manual focus just use af it's more accurate

It was a spur of the moment decision because of the weather in Michigan being surprisingly nice today when I woke up. I'll remember to leave some more open space next time I go out and take more.
why have a watermark they make you look like a pretentious twat and why use manual focus just use af it's more accurate
This was the first time I was using Adobe Lightroom, which includes an option to set up custom watermarks and logos. It was more of a "exploring" experience of the program for me. As for using manual focus, I like having the ability to use the focus ring myself. Auto focus isn't always more accurate.
I always do manual focus, I'm so used to it on my Minolta I can now only use autofocus for onehanded shots when my other hands too busy
Can anyone tell me if this pic is a little too green? I edit my photos on my laptop and it looked completely different on my desktop monitor. (Too greenish on my desktop, less green on my laptop.) Or maybe im just retarded. Who knows 6/366 by KayGeeCee, on Flickr
image looks fine to me, it's a little green but not in a bad way.
I was admiring the star trail photography that was previously posted and I was wondering, are there any detrimental effects to the sensor with Bulb shots that last about 3 hours/longer? I mean if the shutter stays open that long isn't there a risk of particles getting into the sensor or overheating issues? Just a beginner's query.
why have a watermark they make you look like a pretentious twat and why use manual focus just use af it's more accurate
I never use Auto. It's too.....easy. I don't know, I just hate auto.
Auto focus isn't always more accurate.
While it's a good skill to be able to manually focus, it's also an incredibly valuable skill to be able to manipulate auto-focus properly. There's more to it than letting it just focus by itself, as counter intuitive as that sounds. You pick up on the subtleties and quirks that become second nature to correct for. Auto-focus will generally be more accurate than your eye, it's just a matter of getting to know and predict how it will work in a variety of lighting situations. You can be great at manually focusing, but if you're shit at using auto-focus and never practicing using it, you're just excluding yourself from something that can really help you out.
Guess who has three thumbs and singed up just for the photography section. Try to get it on the corner of what you're focusing on.
Tried something new to see what effect I would get. Went to a light festival on New Year's Eve and uploaded the photos to find these: I have no idea how this happened. Or this. I would have been able to get significantly better shots if my friend in the driver's seat actually pulled over and stopped at the really spectacular lights. Instead, even with signs saying otherwise, she insisted "the cops would pull [her] over" if she stopped. :v:
