I love this thread, there's some really nice photos on here guys. Got some potentially interesting shots over Christmas, hopefully there are a few, but this is the only one that's caught my eye so far: DSC_1161-2 by harry.quast, on Flickr

Dude, they are beautiful! Moonlight creates some of the most beautiful images i find, i took a 60" exposure of the rooftop of the building i took my last batch in with only moonlight and the lighting was great but sadly it was very windy which made the tripod wiggle around thus making the image distorted and also i had no means of focusing well so it was blurred too. made me sad:( [editline]7th January 2012[/editline]
panorama by Kyle Tucker, on Flickr My first attempt at a Brenizer/panorama
Bit too cropped off the bottom, personally i believe it would look better with the gap between your head and the top of the image being equal to that of you feet to the bottom. Other than that i like the colours!

Photos from the 1880's up to the 1950's.
Right, I have a question, can i use my phone flash if I wanted to have someone still in a long exposure photo, and not the actual camera flash cause that would light everything up and i want just one bit, would a led flash from a phone work? Okay, like this
IMG_8980 by Kyle Tucker, on Flickr I just like the colors (and facial expression har har) in this one^
but with a longer exposure and the subject in a corner of a photo.

Okay, like this but with a longer exposure and the subject in a corner of a photo.
I believe it would. It'd be like any remote flash. You'd have to play around though, depending on your settings the flash may not expose the subject exactly how you want it to. Try it. What's the worst that could happen?
I was admiring the star trail photography that was previously posted and I was wondering, are there any detrimental effects to the sensor with Bulb shots that last about 3 hours/longer?
Tried something new to see what effect I would get. PICS
So question, if you had to pick one of those as the best, which one would it be and how could I have made it better? (All shots are SOOC) Not saying that they're interesting or anything just want some C&C.
u bros are makin me wanna get raid 1 going
You're better off just doing incremental backups.
Don't quote me on this, but isn't a star trail photo simply put a bunch of long exposure photos merged into one?
You can either do a single long exposure(~1 hour or more), which is fine to use, and can help bring out more features of landscape, especially in dark locations, or if you're using film. Long exposure example Layering(~30 secs per layer) can be used if you want to save the sensor, and can easily be achieved with free programs, however, it runs the risk of not turning out as smooth as you want, due mostly to the time the camera takes to save the image to the storage media, so use a high-class card. It may also consume more battery. Also works well if your camera has a bad bulb mode(hold for exposure time). Layering example:
layered definitely results in less noise, I've used both methods however... and they both work. However, one thing you guys are forgetting is, if you use the layered mode you can use the same frames to make a star time lapse :) 2 birds with 1 stone.
Totally heading for the layering one, as soon as I fix my set of wheels and head to a deserted location.
Lowkeyish photograph. Any tips? 7/366 by KayGeeCee, on Flickr
I think if you're going to silhouette a figure in you photo, then I guess because the centre of focus is primarily your subject and not necessarily the background, then you want your subject doing something visually interesting. Or if you want your focus to be the background then the same applies for said backround. I'm not sure really. These guys know what they're talking about, I'm sure they can be of more help. Not my photo but a photo of me, I'm the guy to the right holding the rig/cam this was taken by one of the actors but damn that's some really good timing!
Sorry I'm late, but dogs are still cool, right? Then two more. I really feel like I need to find a "style" to emulate, but nothing interests me. He still refuses to change from JPG even when he needs transparency in the image. It'd make my life easier too.
Trying to get back in the swing of things. This is kind of a repeat of my last post (not nearly as happy with it, though) -same light, same-ish pose- just in a nicely manicured little park. Don't look so hard for style, just take pictures you like.
