why? they offered, didn't cost them anything anyway because i got entered as a member of there band
were they not disappointed i mean taking photos at a gig just sucks the fun out of it and it's not like the photos were exceptional, they were motion blurred and underexposed.
don't understand how i'm not supporting them? I am there taking photo's for literally nothing, the band spent no money and lost no money to get me in and i am taking photo's for them when usually photographers charge fees upward of £50 around here? also cueball, i don't know if you have ever done a gig photoshoot before or not but this was my first one so it was a definite steep learning curve and for the record my camera isnt very well equipped for low light situations, i couldn't get close enough to use my cameras flash because the venue was packed and i dont own an external one that can throw flash for me and it is extremely hard to get still shots of people and still have them exposed enough to allow the photos visible in the low lighting of a gig. All the shots were taken at f/1.9 with my Auto Chinon 50mm lens.

Also I went for a little walk while my little brother had his birthday party with his friends (dat noise), and took some photos on the trip. Nothing exceptional, but CC is always nice!
yeah i have, this was my first one with the most basic canon dslr -pictures- but not impossible
Those are good man, i'll admit they are better than mine. I'm not trying to make excuses, i know my photo's aren't the best ever but working with what i had (e.g. no flash, only access to a manual focus lens which is very sensitive to change in focus,a mediocre camera and no prior experiance) i think i did pretty good. The band themselves were really happy with the results so i feel as thought i did myself proud.
Event photography is fucking awesome if you have the contacts. It's p much a free party with superVIP treatment. I've chilled out with big ass artists and got so much contacts out of it.
stop waving your dick around, and give the guy some tips n' tricks instead.
valid point shoot on a high iso and shoot raw, you can noise reduce in post shoot wide open, ai servo autofocus if possible and aim for the highest shutter speed you can get away with. and when editing, increase the blacks to make them nice and contrasty, does wonders to photos once you've increased the exposure in yer raw file

I usually shoot with Av, f/2.8, -1/3 or -2/3 EV, + 1/3 to +1 flash exp comp (depending on lights), AUTO ISO when there are a lot of flashing lights (bump back to 3200/1600 when shooting in dark). Make sure to have an exposure between 1/5 and 1 sec (1/20 minimum when taking pictures of people with lights shining on them or you'll smear the outlines). 1 sec is great for light streaks (keep it still for 0.25 sec before moving to light up the background as well). There are a lot more tricks but you just usually learn them yourself. Everyone has their own style. External flash with a diffuser are a must. Sometimes it's really easy to just switch back and forth between Av, M and P with different settings on them.
First try at selective saturation, also day 3 of my 366 Preperation by Wickerman123, on Flickr.

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire night, just allowed to free roam the backstage of the local live music venue that i have been a punter at very many times was really odd but a good experience. I think my next step is to get a tripod and a external flash, then maybe a diffuser.
Diffusers cost £5
Diffusers cost £5
Any advice on cheap, off camera flashes or adapters to allow so?
canon? nikon? pentax? sony?
I'd love advice on panasonic, doubt there are many mind you :c
Some nice ideas coming up here, gig shots are tidy, as said high iso and no flash as its a bit "rude"... Moar pussy...
canon? nikon? pentax? sony?
Shit sorry. I'm using a Cannon 5D. My flash unit is a Nissin Di622
I don't know much about third party flashes. Canon p much only has two worthwhile speedlites anyway. I'd get a second hand 430 EX somewhere
For off camera flash check this out, really informative and easy for the "hard of learning" (me) http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/02/welcome-to-strobist.html
Messing with PP with the pictures I took today, figuring out what looks okay for the competition. The storm never cleared, so I didn't have time to scout for some nice foreground objects in any of the landscapes I took today. This was taken in high wind in heavy rain, soaked the camera and myself. Edit: another.

Only been in em a handful of times though. CC: I think you need some dynamics to your posing, most of your stuff is of the back of your head. Check this out. Scroll down for bro poses. You could take note from some of the female stuff, but most of it would just come out awkward if not 'optimistic.' Trust me, I know how the 365 is, and I know all about issues with repetition and what not. Just keep plugging along and try to maintain some inspiration - don't force it though, and just have fun.
