Might as well vote for the Liberal Democrats directly than one of the many micro-parties which are probably the Liberal Democrats filling out the ballot sheet abcpea

i the sound of these guys
85th percentile speed limits! Hell yes.
If you're voting for x simply because you don't want y to get it, vote for minor parties you align closer to over both and then just preference x before y. Don't put your first vote for Rudd or Abbott simply because you don't want the other one winning.
The Liberals fucked up QLD by putting ridiculous taxes on things and putting more strains on Worker Unions, you'd have to be daft to even give them a go.
Sure Kevin isn't all that perfect but hey he knows what's to do, what I see from the two parties is a leader who likes to spend and a leader who likes to cut.
Spending puts a lot of debt on our shoulders sure but just cutting things is awful, how are we going to get anywhere without putting money into what's needed. Tony wants to cut a lot of funding, our education and health department are in critical need of a miracle and Tony wants to cut it to try and save money.
By spending, we build foundations for the future and eventually pay off the debt, I think that's the right way to go.
the foundations are already built, and less debt/more money means more income
[editline]4th September 2013[/editline]
which means you can spend more
I'd have to say if i could vote (I'm like, 5 months out. Damn). I'd probably put a third party like the Sex party, then labour somewhere in the middle after i get all the small parties out of the way. Then i really don't give a shit.
If you are voting due to terms of economic policy, if you are not an economist. You have no fucking business voting due to the economy. The vision that Liberal is the guys who save, and Labor as the guys who spend has to stop. It's fucking toxic to our voters too. Why did John Howard get us into such good surplus? It's because he sold off all our assets like telstra. Howard did a bit of a cut and run deal. Inversely, when Kevin first came to power, he was finely in surplus and doing well. No more then half a yeah later (Or less really), the global financial crisis came around and stabbed everyone in the dick. We are in deficit because kevin spent our money trying to keep our economy going. You know what? It fucking worked. As a result we dodged most of the shit that got flung our way, that sent bigger and older countries then ours into the fucking toilet. The European union for example got absolutely shitboxed by it.
So what about Tony Abbots policies? Well, in his desperation to convince people that he doesn't hate women. He has implemented his little paid parental leave scheme. This little thing grants 6 months at full fucking pay. Capped at $150,000. Yeah. $150,000 dollars. If you earn over, you still get the $150,000 from the government. This is not only fucking blatant pandering to rich voters, but also hugely fucking wasteful. Most of the money is going to the people who need it less. So we need to rustle up an estimated $5.5 fucking billion a year for this. Where? Fucking more cuts that's where. I'm guessing that health would be first, then education. Although that's purely speculation.
Futhermore, Mr. Abbot's fraudbrand will fuck us worse than Labors. While Liberals love to quote the 30 billion figure compared to the "Likely" (Aka exaggerated) cost of 100 billion (Over 15 years compared to over 9). Then they'll rabble on about speed vs cost and that shit. Problem? You fucking bet i have one. Firstly, by trying to get shit out faster we are fucking speeds, the whole point of this fucking NBN in the first place. To make us competitive with other first world countries. Cost wise is better in the short term, but time and cost wise it's worse in the long run. We do have to replace these things soon, with fiber we can wait another 20 fucking years. You know how to upgrade fibre cables? Switch the fucking light refracting prisms. That's 20 years minimum. Furthermore, these little nodes will need maintenance. More cash down the drain. Fiber does not need maintenance unless something goes wrong. Oh, and i forgot the best part. The maximum speeds quoted by the Liberal party only apply directly beside the node. Since the Labor plan is direct to premises, it doesn't matter if you are 1 meter away from the box or 100,000 meters away. Oh, and after the copper cables reach your house, they have to go through more copper in your own house.
I honestly don't care if that assclown Abbot gets the house of representatives. But i really, REALLY fucking hope that he doesn't get control of the senate too. If that happens, whatever the fuck he wants can be passed through no fucking worries. That fucking scares me.
Does anyone else think that the Liberals supposed idea of stopping the boats ie 'buying all the rickety boats so they have no boats to come in on' is the dumbest fucking thing they've ever heard?

Yes. I love the interview when abbot is asked how he can stop smoking and he just replies
"Stop the boats stop the smokes" because he's too fucking retarded to think on his goddamn feet and not just repeat what his phrase of the day is. Like some glorified Budgie. Link for the interested
Also, fuck him for wanting to fuck smokers over.

That was their policy? To actually deny people to escape their country and seek asylum? Fuck the libs and fuck everyone who actually votes for them.

You're more educated on this than half of the people voting to be honest.
I also agree with the being scared. I'm legitimately worried what we will have to deal with if he is elected.
Like this is just confusing to me
I don't see why? I don't agree with many of the Liberal policies (I liked their nuclear plan under Howard), but the leader sets the "tone" for the party (See Turnbull accepting climate change, and Abbott blocking a vote on gay marriage)

Maybe I'm a terrible ideologue but saying your voting the Greens and then in the same breath considering the Liberals under Turnbull is quite confusing. It's short-sighted to vote for the leader of the party (and whatever tone they have) because underneath them is a caucus who have certain overriding goals and will press them. And frankly, the Greens and the Liberals have very different goals
Oh, right, now I get what you're saying.
Like I said, I'd pretty much never vote for the liberals unless they had a really good policy (Like the nuclear policy of Howards that I mentioned, even though I still voted for Rudd in that election), I'm much more closely aligned to the Greens/Labor, but the leader of the party does set the general direction of the party (Which can backfire, like when the power backers rolled Turnbull for accepting climate change)
Don't take my comment of "then we'll talk" as me saying I'd vote for them, it depends on a lot more than just the current leader.
Abbott may very well be a complete fucking retard, but I'm voting for the party, not him. Rudd was kicked out for a reason last time, all he's got going for him is good public speaking ability. He's all talk on a lot of things, but that's apparently enough to win over voters.
Don't forget we've got labor, a party that lied through their teeth about the carbon tax. Julia was just a figure head for the labor caucus anyway, as is Ruddy.
There is a need for budget cuts, thanks to all the bullshit spending Ruddy did back in his last term. What they should have done was budget cuts, rather than more taxes.
Also btw, the labor party ripped out massive amounts of funding for tertiary studies to fund their education reform, which is godamned idiotic.
[editline] September 2013 [/editline]
On a side note, I'm going to be fucking ecstatic when the greens lose their grip on the reps and senate. I'd much prefer independents than those nutcases. (Yes pushing for gay marriage is good, but their other policies are legitimately batshit crazy).
How dare a leader be a represnetative of the party they represent?
Tony Abbott pulls all of that shit about the Carbon tax but:

Literally every word that comes out of his mouth is "no labor u wrong Im right fuck all not christian white rich males"
Id like to point out that Australia has seen constant economic growth, even through the GFC, because of the international award winning work of Wayne Swan.
Labors education thing was a bit meh, but you can not honestly say that it isn't much much much much less shit than anything the LNP would do.
Also which batshit insane policies are you talking about? You mean the one where they don't support the indefinite detention of children for the crime of not being rich enough to overstay their visa/get a plane, and taking a boat instead, which is a much bigger problem than anything the LNP says about the refugees?
Still going to vote for this idiot?

That will probably change your mind.
Yes, your post saying "We are fucked" changed my mind :)
I am probably a bit biased because he is going to ruin the infrastructure in Australia which is a big hit to my field as I am working in ICT.
Yes, your post saying "We are fucked" changed my mind :)
Don't vote Liberal, you are voting against yourself unless you are filthy rich, and even if you are you are still a selfish asshole who lacks any sort of empathy towards your fellow man.
The $10k hit to the tax free threshold will hit hard to everyone who isn't filthy rich.
The $10k hit to the tax free threshold will hit hard to everyone who isn't filthy rich.
What's this? Please elaborate.
Because as someone who earns around where the tax free threshold is right now and has all the expenses of running half of a house this kind of stuff is pretty important to me.
[editline]5th September 2013[/editline]
I really don't like the Coalition's plan to axe 12,000 public service jobs. My mum works as a disability carer for the NSW state government and although I'm not sure if her position is actually at risk, it still sickens me because it's such an honourable position and I'd hate to see anyone from that department lose their job.

Yeah I probably won't get another year out of my current job if they get in.
Anyway 12k tax threshold increase that the have kept very well hidden.

Basically fucking over the Facepunch age group. I'm surprised there are still some pro-liberals on here.
[editline]5th September 2013[/editline]
Oh and if you don't know what it is. You will be taxed for every dollar over $6k you make a year instead of over $18k. That is a massive decrease in income for some people.

Hmmm, four months old.
I dunno if they have actually kept it hidden or not, but on the Liberal party website they did outline that although they're going to get rid of the carbon tax, they'll keep the tax free threshold where it currently is.
The Coalition will keep the current income tax thresholds and the current pension and benefit fortnightly rates while scrapping the carbon tax.
This means that Australian workers, families and pensioners will keep the tax cuts and fortnightly pension and benefit increases provided in Labor’s carbon tax package, but without the carbon tax.
Oh that's a relief. Still going to lose my job though.
I heard on the radio today that the coalition announced that they were cutting funding to country's in need. Apparently it would save 105million or something.
Aren't we already getting plowed by the UN at the moment? This certainly can't help.
[editline]5th September 2013[/editline]
Also if anyone has any info on where I could find anything that affects the Defence Force I'd love to read it.

I'd like to think they wouldn't cut anything further from Defence and the Liberals do tend to be good to the ADF, I'm still not voting for them though, even if that does affect me directly.

I've already voted labour and I'm enlisting in the ADF at the start of the new year.
Just why the fuck can't Malcolm be PM? Would be soooo much better for the country when the Libs win tomorrow.

He'd be better honestly, but he'd still be liberal. It's naive to think that all of Liberal's awful policies are spearheaded by Tony Abbot. However, i'd much rather call Malcom my PM then fucking Tony.

The leader does set the tone for the government to some extent though. Like no marriage equality conscience vote under Tony (yet) and quite a bit of environmental action under Malcolm.
I'm loving facebook today. Everyone's into politics and they all have no idea. I'm having a great time!
