The develop was acting so strange during the Q & A. "...[Dlc]for free. Hopefully not really that was a joke"
Also, apperantly you now gain health through medpacks instead of potions.
Alright, I'm all for being against dumbing down, but to be fair this is the least of the problems I have with the game. [editline]30th September 2013[/editline]
holy dropped frames batman
I thought that was a problem with the recording, not the game itself.
Perhaps it's because I never played the original thief games, but this game looks good and gorgeous to me. Eidos+square did a fun enough stealth action in deus ex III alone, I have high hopes for this game.
Looks like just another forgettable, generic game of this generation of big corporate design philosophy. GOD forbid they upset people by making it too "unique" and stand out by challenging the player in any way shape or form
Good thing you can deactivate focus. Many of those special powers ruin the whole stealthy thief experience imo. I mean come on, slow mo? They just seem gimmicky and make you feel like a badass effortlessly. And I also hate how in most stealth games stepping into a shadow makes you instantly invisibile.
Too bad the games gonna be balanced around that, just how Hitman Absolution was balanced around its gimmicks. You would see why this looks so bad in comparison.
It's not 1999 anymore? Well yeah, it's pretty obvious since they're too busy adding all sorts of dumb shit that really has no place in the Thief series in my opinion. They should have just made a new game entirely instead of slapping on the Thief name in order to try and get more sales
a new Dishonored but with the perspective of thieves?
a new Dishonored but with the perspective of thieves?
As a classic Thief fan it genuinely makes me sad to see people talk about Thief as a rip-off of Dishonored, and not the other way around. It's like seeing people talk about a new Wolfenstein game as if it was a rip-off of Doom, when in actuality it's the other way around. [editline]30th September 2013[/editline] Rip-off isn't really the right word, though.

Hearing people saying Thief is a "rip off" of dishonored is also pretty grating.
I find it funny how Dishonored was inspired by Thief and few other games and now the new Thief game seems to be inspired by Dishonored instead of staying it's own thing. I'm not a huge fan of Thief and even then I don't really like the gameplay. All I can say is the graphics look pretty nice.
Fairly sure there's an ability confirmed where you can see through walls too. What happened to using common sense and listening/waiting to determine where people are?
Devs simplify things to appeal to the modern demographic. I'm not gonna throw around terms like 'casual', but it's primarily what happens nowadays with this kinda stuff. Some games keep their complexities, but like spectator1 said, even alternative steath games like Hitman are hit with this stuff just so that more people buy it. To appeal to everyone, they put in these fancy features that clash with the previous games in design intent entirely, and then when fan backlash reaches a point, they often go, "OH HEY, BUT HARD MODE DISABLES THE NEW STUFF!" Hard mode or not, these games are often designed with the new and streamlined systems in mind, making it a pointless self-imposed challenge on the purists. Appealing to everyone ends up pleasing less people than expected, often enough. And in Thief 2013's case, the devs aren't really taking feedback at all, what you see is what you're gonna get; an action-stealth title that wants you to think it's Thief, but it really isn't.
Are the keepers, glyphs and other magical and mysterious elements still in the game? Or have they thrown those away?
Are the keepers, glyphs and other magical and mysterious elements still in the game? Though i see statues of hooded people holding big keys in some screenshots, so hopefully that means there is at least still a presence of keepers.
Are the keepers, glyphs and other magical and mysterious elements still in the game? Or have they thrown those away?
One source I saw said that they were throwing away all magic entirely.
are you taffing kidding me? they threw away keepers, glyphs, magic, hammerites, FUCKING PAGANS? Stupid weaksy manfools.
are you taffing kidding me? they threw away keepers, glyphs, magic, hammerites, FUCKING PAGANS? Stupid weaksy manfools.
Well since they are sort of half ass following the lore of Thief and half ass continuing from 3, Glyphs should not exist anymore.
