Also, australian stupidity.
So gay marriage is legal in the Capitol Territory (canberra/etc) because labour legislated it.
Now, since labour is out and liberal is in, abbott spearheaded against it now that he has the power and its being decided tomorrow if "Gay marriage is constitutional"
so, fuck this government so hard
Well, the Labour government in the ACT legislated after the election of the Liberal party knowing the laws would be challenged. It's actually quite funny because the reason they can even get the laws through is because of a conservative government (John Howard in 2004) legislating federal law to define marriage as purely between a man and a woman, which means that states theoretically can do marriages between two men or two women because that is no longer covered by federal law, because they legislated that part out. The conservatives shot themselves in the foot.
Unfortunately it's still a very murky area of law and under theoretical constitutionality it shouldn't really be allowed to stand (taking into account that federal law governs marriage between a man and a woman and the intent of the laws introduced in 2004 to define it only as between a man and a woman was to limit the ability for same sex marriages, not what it actually did which was increase it).
I'm hoping (and so is most everyone else) that for the sake of equality, society and humanity they don't repeal the laws, which is an option open to them because the literal interpretation of the constitution is that what they have done is perfectly acceptable.
For those of you interested, here's what my tattoo looks like. They finally scabbed over so it was okay to take a shot.

It's basically a Chaos Compass. I got it from a necklace I got it a long time ago and wore almost everyday since then. But the necklace piece is giving out, so I can't wear it. The necklace is also one-of-a-kind(Very few exist) and can't be replaced. The symbol itself has a lot of meanings to me personally. What it represents to me and where I got it from. It has a special history to me, and only me.
Don't hate me now Roll, I've had a fake one on me for a year to see if I liked it or not. By fake, I mean a sharpie drawn one. And I know I don't want anything else.
My hotel just got completely flooded, feels good to be on vacation...

Well, you did dumb me after I said I got one.
You can have your opinions. Just don't hate someone else for having another.

I :/ed you because of you mentioning me, not because of the tat.

Well, either way, I still love you. Just like everyone else here.
hello this is the gay chat thread let there be drama
also I'm actually sorry for all the shit i have caused in this thread, while i may come off as a cunt its just because i'm fairly cynical
for most of the people i talk about theres no real hate behind it, i'm usually just in a bad mood due to work/etc and need to vent
Don't worry too much about it. The internet is a vent for most people. And I still offer an ear to anyone who needs to vent or talk.
I accept anyone as a friend, whenever they need one.

Why do people still care who marries who? Like you note news stories about countries passing gay marriage and Australia just slips further away from it.
I should be able to marry whoever I want dammit.
cos religiuns say its bade
Well what can you really do with marriage anyway.
It'd still be nice someday to just say I have a wife or anything and have it respected that we love each other.
ugh.
Also I really hate my emotions. I still have feelings for people I don't talk to anymore and I had crushes on years ago and it's just annoying.
I feel like I'm the only one who can't get over people I liked long ago.
That's secretly almost everyone I think
states and territories run on completely different legislation mind you, hence why NT has a fuckload of holidays and why weed is somewhat legal in ACT
basically even if abbott makes gay marriage illegal in ACT it means that it can still become legal in the states (though the states are controlled by the government moreso than the territories)
The ACT isn't run by federal parliament though. It is run by the legislative assembly, it is acting as a state would. This legislation is basically the legislation. If this fails there has to be federal reforms otherwise we never get gay marriage. They are running the same argument a state government would.
[editline]12th December 2013[/editline]
When is this ruling, by the way? I think I might sleep through it...
12th ie today
Oh I knew that, I was wondering the time.
Turns out one of the High Court Justices is a lesbian. There are three conservatives (two are hard line, one perhaps not as much). Four less conservative, but at least one of those goes to a Catholic Church regularly (he also has a black belt in Taekwondo so he might beat the other Justices into submission). Also another one of the four was described by George Brandis as a good choice so that's not so great.
I declare that if this was a morally bankrupt and selfish group of individuals who didn't pay attention to the letter of the law and voted based on their own feelings, there are going to be three votes in favour of marriage equality and four against.
As it is it's probably going to get one in favour and six against.
Or this is Boston Legal and Alan Shore makes an impressive closing statement and an amazing ruling is given in favour that makes you feel warm inside.
That's secretly almost everyone I think
:p
Certainly doesn't feel like it.
Maybe I just have a bad luck habit of meeting people who just never care x_x

Welp unsurprisingly I woke up at half 3 in the afternoon.
On the upside, I'm so warm that I hardly realised it was winter so I'm taking this one as a victory :v:
Facepunch has gone sepia tone on me what

Not webkit master race
Already over.
Firefox users were immune to the filtering

I feel you, I still have feelings for old high school crushes that rear their ugly heads whenever they post on Facebook. It does help to get rid of the feelings when they stop taking care of themselves and drop out of college though.
Filters? I don't see any filters, what are you silly sods talking about?
The battle with the filters has ended.
It hurt eyes everywhere (but apparently half of it was blurry and didn't work on firefox or something).
Not webkit master race

To be honest I wish Opera never switched to Chrome engine. I prefer their old versions :c
Firefox is the only browser where Flash doesn't crash for me. As much.

i know he hates my bf and it hurts so fucking much when he assumes shitty things about him and im not allowed to respond because i'm not "defending the family" if i do and i just get yelled at more
Tell him your boyfriend is family, and if he doesn't like it you'll start your own.
hehehe
A bit late on the series I am watching chat, but eh, I begun watching this before bed ;

Surprisingly good.
heya guys! It's me checking in with y'all. So I've been 'unemployed' for little over a month and I'm making great progress as a 3D-Artist. I'm busy every day, working from early in the morning late into the night on various projects, unpaid for now. No deadlines, no stress and loads of experience. I improved loads over a few weeks, I finish an animation or a model almost every day and I can't even bring myself to take the weekends off.
I wish I could show you some things, but it's best to keep a lid on everything until further notice since it's quite a big thing for the community of the certain game I'm working on and there is a big Mod and Indie game of the year vote ATM, so we want to time our public releases.
Relationship wise, I'll be visiting a certain someone again soon, maybe before christmas and i'm very excited about it. It's nice to be home all day (like he is) and available. I'm still working, more than before but I'm always there for him to call me and all, it's been really healthy for our relationship.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'll have some modelling to do and a portfolio page to set up. In a way I'm living a dream.
