We don't get kids on Halloween because literally no one is celebrating it in Germany. Its more of an american thing apparently.
These days it feels like you'd be hard pressed to find one.
Not really, there are lots of holidays here that don't follow the craze for spending money. It's a shame that holidays such a christmas and easter are becoming more focused on spending rather than the spirit of the holiday.

Oh boy, halloween, right! :3 It's snowing. And 28mph winds. All day. And then at night, when the wind dies down, it goes down to 25f (-3c) :c
Seeing as how the spirit of holiday is supposed to be Jesus according the most of the world, I honestly prefer the spending.
Has Jesus ever bothered you? Has he touched you in your special place? In all seriousness, the spirit of christmas is not only the christian one. It was supposed to be a holiday where people would come together and pass the days together. Families enjoying themselves. Is that so wrong? Do we have to replace such a wonderful time with hollow consumerism?

Many times, for the negative, to the point where I contemplate suicide every day because of the countless abuse I get from Christians every day. So yes, I do prefer spending money to celebrating Jesus Christ torture porn on Easter. I know what you mean by the spirit of the season when it comes to late December, but I honestly don't agree with celebrating any religious holiday like CHRISTmas. I simply celebrate the whole month as a whole, as it IS a time to come together with family and friends and be happy. However I can't give a damn about a mainly religious-based holiday like December 25th getting ruined by consumerism. It's just one shitty day out of a merry, merry month.

People celebrate their holidays differently and for different reasons. If you're going to be so fucking petty about someone's way of celebrating a holiday, you're really putting yourself out as a prick.

Because good christians that are not some crazy fanatic jesus lover, are quite warm. Of course there are bigots and closed minded people but that is true for every thing in life. I don't see how a day where some people pray jesus could ruin your month. But you've got your views, if you honestly think that consumerism is better than tradition, it's up to you.

It's their holiday, they do what they want with it. I don't have to fight for the values of Christmas because I don't think it's a holiday worth fighting for, is all. Like I said, I still love the month and find it quite merry. I'm just not sweating one bit about the "ruining of Christmas" is all.

I hate that people are gradually losing the meaning in holidays and that they do not care about it not one single bit. Remember that "A generation which ignores history has no past: and no future."
It's only just occurred to me that this will be the first halloween I've had in a populated area in seven years
It's only just occurred to me that this will be the first halloween I've had in a populated area in seven years
Well if this is true then fuck it, I'm gonna still try and have the best damn trick-or-treating there is

Remember that "A generation which ignores history has no past: and no future."
I have plenty of holidays that I do hold high regard for. Today, for example. Halloween is my favorite holiday, but I typically just celebrate it my way: With lots of scares and fun with friends. I don't really see today as being ruined by anything because it's pretty much the same today as it was 21 years ago when I was born. It's always just been a great day as long as you spend it your way.
It's only just occurred to me that this will be the first halloween I've had in a populated area in seven years
Consider yourself lucky. You will have more than the mandatory dose of horror this year. [editline]31st October 2014[/editline]
I have plenty of holidays that I do hold high regard for. fuck halloween
fuck halloween
But the real questions is: HOW CAN YOU FUCK A HOLIDAY?
fuck halloween
Halloween says: "Feeling's mutual" You're always such a downer
Which completely defies the meaning of the holidays itself seeing as it became just consumerism.
But by that logic ALL holidays are consumerism. Halloween is celebrated the same here as it was 20 years ago. Nothing's changed, it's still the same fun holiday.
But the real questions is: HOW CAN YOU FUCK A HOLIDAY?
right in the eye of your jackolantern!!
But by that logic ALL holidays are consumerism. Halloween is celebrated the same here as it was 20 years ago. Nothing's changed, it's still the same fun holiday.
Yes, because it became so. Doesn't mean jack that for twenty years you have seen the same holiday. Look up the meaning of the holiday, seeing as not only it has roots in celtic culture but it also was noted to be in Roman culture, Pagan culture and hear hear it was christianized in the west. beside no, not all is consumerism. As i said you probably don't have holidays that are not centered about money over there, but i can assure you there are in the rest of the world. So yes i prefer a nice, traditional holiday to some shit holla dolla holiday.

Typically drinking wine and having orgies on Christmas is frowned upon, even though that's where the roots lie.
As if we celebrate holidays for their original purposes anymore. Did i ever say that people do it like they used to, or that they have to stick to the oldest root? I said time and time that the SPIRIT of the holidays is being gradually eroded by consumerism. Beside if you read my edit, i've also told you that not all holidays come for the money, seeing as some minor ones are way more focused on tradition than those major ones that are now focused on spending. You know what we were doing today 50 years ago? The same thing. Dressing up, eating candy, carving jack-o-lanterns, and scaring each other. I don't think the holiday is becoming consumerized, I think the WHOLE WORLD is becoming consumerized. The spirit, however, is still there and quite strong in my opinion.
And I'm saying that I while I agree with you on some holidays, I do not agree with you when it comes to Halloween.
How could anyone say that Halloween is anything but consuming anyways It is literally going out to eat fuckloads of candy and have an excuse to do so. [editline]31st October 2014[/editline] And being in awesome costumes and getting to watch horror movies for days on end without being considered weird [editline]31st October 2014[/editline] Oh and getting to do spooky things and everything that's super scary becomes a bit less so because of the season [editline]31st October 2014[/editline] Goddamn Halloween is the best holiday of the year
but star trek

So you think that the spirit of Halloween is only eating candy, dressing up as monsters or else and getting scared, all of this wrapped up nice by the jack o lantern?
I'm saying the spirit of Halloween is enjoying oneself with the macabre. The TRADITIONS of Halloween are things like dressing up, eating candy, and all that jazz. After over half a decade of being done every year, yes they are traditions.
It is still snowing What sins did I commit
It is still snowing What sins did I commit
It's supposed to rain here today. I live in a desert this is amazing thank you Joe Pesci
It's supposed to rain here today. I live in a desert this is amazing thank you Joe Pesci
I live in a weird amalgamated deciduous/coniferous forest mixed with plains. Snow is gross. Cold is gross. Save that shit for November.
