A chemex is basically a really nice looking, fancier pour over with a flask built in so you don't have to do it straight in a cup. They have their own special filters that are supposed to make the cleanest cup ever, but I can't imagine its too different from other filters. You can pretty much get the same thing by just buying a cheap $10 pour over cone with some filters. Its nice though, in that it makes enough coffee for about 3-4 people while most pour overs tend to just be single-cup.
exactly, thats what i was hinting at really. Like it's a damn nice carafe, wouldn't mind owning one. Would use it too, but i'm not spending the money for it. Besides im too busy with my espresso machine now.
So my poor excuse of a dad knocked at the door without warning me and told me he had to take a shower. He seemed in a hurry and I was like "yeah whatever" and let him in. He also asked me if I had something to eat and I said it wasn't enough for two. After he was done he left without saying a word. I go to the bathroom and this is what I find: -He took a dump and didn't even flush -He touched FUCKING EVERYTHING with wet hands -The bathroom stinked for an hour and a half -He used what was left of the shampoo my doctor ordered and that shit is expensive as fuck. I could've used it for another week but no, he just had to use it all -Footprints and dirt all over the place -He used every single towel he could find Then I go downstairs because I was hungry, and what do you know, he ate the 3 slices of pizza that were supposed to be my dinner for today because I had nothing else left to eat and I won't see a single penny until tomorrow. Now I'll have to wait more than half a day before I can eat anything and spent an entire hour cleaning the bathroom up. Wanna know the best part? When I called him and told him all of the above he said "so? you can remain without food for an entire night for once". I've already told him to go fuck himself and called him a thousand different things. He came back knocking at my door but gave up after 10 minutes. I'm not letting that asshole enter my house ever again.
A lot of people would continue to let their parent walk over them like that because "It's family and that means something". Congrats on asserting yourself like that.
Idk what to think of my parents when it comes to living in my own place (assuming I even get there) like I had edgy thoughts of just cutting off communication with them and forgetting they exist but that's a terrible thing to do
So my boyfriend who isn't the horniest person in the world and has a lower sex drive than me sent me a message this morning. Pretty sexual and graphic. I was very surprised and also very aroused. I am now looking forward to tomorrow night far more than i thought. Pokemon & great sexy time, i cannot think of a better night.

You could probably get something cheaper if you installed your own OS and got rid of the touch features and the crap you won't need. :v
You could probably get something cheaper if you installed your own OS and got rid of the touch features and the crap you won't need. :v
The problem with that is that almost no companies sell stuff without an OS or With Linux on it.
My HDD died, lost 1 TB of stuff. Who wanna give me a hug? ;-;
What's wrong with it? Might be recoverable if it's just a dead logic board
My HDD died, said it was corrupt like 3 or 4 times before that, so i put it in a bag in the freezer on the off chance it'll fix it (read somewhere). left it there for 15mins. Put it back in my PC. hasn't broken since and that was like a year and a half ago. 2TB's
What's wrong with it? Might be recoverable if it's just a dead logic board
Already checked, it fried. I could only recover like 20 MB. My keyboard is also dying. Some keys like L or F sometimes work, sometimes they don't.

The drive didn't stay cold enough to fully back it up before breaking again, so they froze two bricks and sandwiched the drive between them, wrapped in a towel, worked perfectly :v: But yeah, you should try what greeley said, apparently it's magic

It sucks to lose that much data knowing that you won't even get back half of it( most of the stuff was pretty old, like OLD)
Nothing like a bunch of really shitty circumstances making you totally broke for xmas Spent all my free cash on a downpayment towards a new car late august, seeing as my old car was getting old and I got a huge surplus of money in. I planned on selling my old car for $1200-$1500 as my new foundation of cash to comfortably float me through the rest of the year. Except, my dad really wanted the car for our little sister - he said he didn't have $1500 for it but would pay me $100/mo (basically the cost of my car payment) until his tax return came in next year then would buy it off me. Sounded good to me, get to help out my dad at the same time, even though I'd be financially on an edge. A month later, the clutch blows in my new car. A MAJOR repair that I frankly don't have the money for. I'm super lucky I made friends with mechanic people over the summer, because they offered to help as long as I bought the parts. Replaced the clutch, replaced a bunch of other stuff that was bad, still having a bad issue (its a long story) but at least its drivable. Total cost on parts/towing/etc is probably near $350-$400... much better than the $1500-$2000 it would have been to do the same amount of work at an actual shop, but super sucks that a new really weird "THUNK THUNK THUNK" issue happens on my driver side wheel when accelerating from a stop at low RPM's. Not only that, because my car I just bought has been broken down for the past 1.5 months, I've been using my old car as transportation and work. This means I've missed out on $200 worth of "payments" my dad was going to be giving me because I had the car the whole time pretty much (and I don't want to accept any while I'm using it still). On top of ALL of this, work has been screwing me over. We got a new manager in who sucks ass, and hired a bunch of people that our store can't support. Everyone's hours is getting royally raped and there is nothing we can do, because now we have 8 people working the same position when previously we only had 5-6 at most in the 4.5 years I've worked here. Our manager insists that if we want more hours we are gonna have to "work hard to increase sales". What a fucking moron. So now I'm looking for another job since I'm currently working at a sinking ship that struggles to pay me the minimum I need to be making per month. Even after this, I'd still have at least a good chunk of cash in the bank if it wasn't for my expenses coming up. I'm taking a trip out to Chicago next week with friends that I've planned months in advance for and can't back out of without screwing everyone over, and that will likely be $300 down the drain for that. After its all said and done after my trip and rent and car payment I'll have a grand total of around $100 in my bank account. Sure I'll get about $750-$1000 from my job over the course of the month but most of that needs to go to cost of living and next months rent. I literally don't have money for gifts this year at all for the first time ever, let alone the xbox I wanted to get for black friday today. My best friend's mom is offering to pay for that for me as a kind of gift as long as I pay her back when I have money but I'm seriously considering if that is something I want to do anyways. The only light at the end of the tunnel is that I'll be getting a load of cash in starting january from school grants. I just have to "hold out" till then... Moral of the story: even if you have multiple plans to recover your finances immediately after doing X Y or Z, never ever ever ever drain your bank account to pay for anything, because you might end up like me and have ALL of your plans to fill your bank account back up fall apart and end up totally broke.

Today just seems to be full of bad surprises for people in here. I hope things turn out good for all of you in the end. [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img]
My headset microphone broke. Again. Does anyone know any good table-microphones?

I'm broke too! :D Black Friday has no power over me because I literally cannot even buy Bad Rats. It's $0 all the way down. Edit: Note: I don't want bad rats, I was just using it as an example of something really cheap.
Well, uh, Happy Thanksmasween everyone! We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here but I'm thankful for all my internet pals <3 it sucks everyone's having a bad time right now, I hope it'll all get better soon :c
use your webcam mic
Thanks.
If you're desperate you can use headphones as a mic.
Thanks.
If you want to get something cheap but quite good at the same time i suggest a zalman mic. It's like 9$ on amazon.

Blames minimum wage going up 30c every year to us not being able to get hours or any kind of pay raise. Does whatever it takes to get his numbers looking "nice" for the DM, which is why he's extreme over hiring and just sending people on breaks or home super early on every shift if the labor cost can't support it (it never can). Says we gotta increase sales to get more hours, ignoring the fact that you need to hire as a response to increased sales not the other way around. Says bullshit like "we're gonna get this store to be the cleanest store in the company which will drive our sales up and increase your deliveries". Because we all know that having an already clean kitchen look spotless will somehow increase sales, and people who order delivery (that never go to the store anyways) will surely want to order more now that we've scrubbed the small amount of dirt from that random corner in the back of the kitchen!! If the DM isn't going to transfer me to another store I'll have to find a job elsewhere. Only problem is I really don't think other delivery places are hiring right now. Edit: Note: I don't want bad rats, I was just using it as an example of something really cheap.
It has no effect on me either, and steam sales never do as well. Except, the exact thing I've been wanting and planning on purchasing is going on an insane deal that I know won't get nearly as low anytime soon at walmart so it makes it really hard to ignore it (XB1 + Master Cheif Collection + $30 GC = $329, normal price for all of that would be almost $500). My money side says I shouldn't get it right now because money is tight. My logic side says I'll be getting it eventually anyways, and if I don't get it now I'll effectively lose out on $170 in the future whenever I do decide to get it (unless I wait so long that the price of all of those drops a lot, time is a factor in spend in a way). My logic side is also telling me that I could afford it now since my best friend's mom is going to pay for it, I'll just have to pay it back in the future when I get cash. But then I feel bad about in in debt with friends - at least I'm not the type of person who wouldn't honor such debts.
As long as you're one that pays his debts, i don't see why you would feel bad.
