the trailer turned me off
I couldn't tell if you were being serious on it being a good game because none of it made sense.
It's legitimately great. It's got character and charm like no other game. Its budget was low though, which shows, and it's definitely strange and surreal. It's HEAVILY inspired by the TV show Twin Peaks and other Lynch works, so if you've seen or if you know anything about David Lynch, you'll understand why (twin peaks is definitely one of his more accessible works tho- also imo the greatest tv show ever made). Plays a lot on dream logic, crime procedural and small American town cliches as parody.. Thoroughly entertaining with lots of stuff to do though. I must have put in at least 10 hours in the past 2 days alone. It also has one of THE very best protagonists I've seen in a game.

I've never heard of that name. I don't watch TV, except for the news and recorded movies. I'll look into the reviews of the game, though.
should have just bought saints row the fourth. Its the same thing as the third, literally, just with more abilities.
As for other games that are sandboxy theres Far Cry thats decently fun. Postal 2 is fun to dick around in but theres not much to as it is a game from 2003.
Fallout 3 or new vegas are good to explore. Deus ex HR while not really a sanbox offers fun missions with a few ways to engage, and city over worlds with quests.

I already have the 4th on the Xbox 360. I also played Far Cry 2 and 3 on the xbox 360 but I traded them in.

Those abilities pretty much make the game completely different from SR3
Thanksgiving was pretty great, with the exception of a guy I know (Who is interested in me) sending me dirty texts while I was in the middle of a family party. Sigh.

Honestly, they barely do. What they really do is render the core of the game moot.
You'll never drive cars for instance. Its neat to run around and leap buildings but there are MUCH better games for that. SR4 Is fun but it really is just cut dlc from sr3 with a bit more expansion, repackaged as a new title.
After a long day of "pre Black Friday" at Best Buy, it's time for me to go directly to sleep and wake up again at 5:30am to repeat it all over again, just longer and even more stressful than today.
'tis the season! :suicide:
If it wasn't for the fact that I'd be visiting my boyfriend in a week from today, I'd probably be a complete wreck right now instead of "just barely keeping it together".

I believe there are two reasons SR4 exists as a standalone game:
1. Volition's ambitions were too high for mere DLC,
2. THQ was tanking at the time of Saints Row 3's release, thus pressured Volition to create the DLC as its own game after they expressed reason number 1.

thats like saying I shouldn't buy far cry 3 because I bought blood dragon because I don't have super jump in far cry 3
Just bought Valkyria Chronicles, I'm so excited.

Not really no. SR4 was nothing but expanded dlc and honestly didn't need to be rereleased as a standalone title imo. Still very fun but not worth full price imo.
FC3 Vs Blood Dragon is actually pretty different. In core they're the same game but blood dragon is an entire parody in and of itself and offers dramatically redesigned maps and areas and is generally completely rehauled stylistically and doesn't render core mechanics moot.
If anything blood dragon should have been a standlone, while sr4 should have been dlc.

It was almost entirely number 2. I followed the development rather closely even though i had light interest in the game. Enter the dominatrix featured nearly everything thats in sr4. All they did was add a bit more story (and i stress a bit) and released it as a standalone and used marketing to their advantage.
Sr3's cancelled Enter the dominatrix was essentially, for all intents and purposes, sr4. Not much changed with it being released as a standalone.

Like, rofl, what im saying is that if you plan on getting sr4, you wasted money on buying sr3. Nearly identical game, sr4 being better if you havent bought sr3. Other than that, just grab sr4 on sale as it doesn't really offer much more at all aside from super powers that lose their charm in about an hours worth of gameplay and from there it just feels, looks, plays, and handles exactly like sr3 (because it literally is sr3)
The whole "President" bit felt shoehorned in and became literally irrelevant after the first few missions so I guess that's one of the bits they added in from Enter The Dominatrix to SR4.
I don't think I just wasted money, I actually enjoyed the first part, that was like a good $2 of entertainment. If the rest of the game is like that, then I did not waste my own money.
Honestly, and im aware of the irony in saying this while talking about Blood Dragon. Sr4 was an extended gimmick that was HEAVILY hyped up and up marketed.
Both sr3 and 4 are good games, however i'd say that if you have sr3, don't buy 4 unless its really cheap. If you have 4, don't even bother with sr3 as it offers absolutely nothing that isn't already in the game. You may think, well no shit its a past title, but this is different. There are plenty of games that have new versions out but past version remain different enough that you'll go back to them.
Kinda too late, since I kinda bought it.
My only annoyance is that I cannot login to my profile and play as Obama
You said you liked the Fallout games. New Vegas is pretty good if you haven't played it.
If you have played it, have you played the DLC campaigns? I've heard they are pretty good.

Yeah I own 2 copies. 1 with all the dlc on console, and 1 without the dlc on pc. It's a pretty good game but I overplayed it.

The cutest, loudest decision you'll ever make
Also, buy tissues, you'll need them :v:
Play like an hour and a half of SR3.
I quite enjoy it, but there is a lack of comedy for this bit.

You could've just bought it off the 3DS store on the system itself and would've had it instantly, without cartridge. It's what I usually do for my games.
Internal storage on the 3ds is not too good tho
Internal storage on the 3ds is not too good tho
SD cards fix that. With that, all the hassle of cartridges and game boxes wont be a problem. In the long run, if you plan to use your 3DS, and buy more games, I'd personally say it's worth it. The only boxed game I have is Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Pokémon Y, Shovel Knight, Smash, etc. are all on my card.
