what i wasnt insulting his paper was probably good its just he posted about giving the paper back like yesterday and I misread as he got the result back not the last assignment so it sounded like his prof wasnt thorough with it and skimmed it like most college professors do its like youre actively trying to be offended

From having had to grade papers myself as well as having a friend or two who were TA's i know that a lot of times people do just skim papers and as long as theres no obvious flaws they'll grade it high. Yeah i get things online are hard to convey since its just text so sarcasm may not translate well but seriously some of you are way too sensitive. This place is open to everyone but it makes it hard to actually talk in here if you're constantly worried about offending someone, at this point this thread is like a scaled back sjw tumblr page. I'd like to say that no one would be turned away from this thread but if this place has to become a hugbox with absolutely nothing short of supportive uplifting posts in order to accommodate everyone, i think more is lost than gained.

Also considering the context, i still don't see the asshole part at all. Like i said in that post, jokes like that are pretty common, its not said in an assholish way at all and if you read it as such then that's a problem on your part, not bat's part. I understood the joke instantly, even if i didn't get it i wouldn't get pissy at him. I seriously don't even think you can infer that what he typed was malicious at all. Like what he typed, im reading it over and over and im more amazed than anything that people failed to see it was a joke, how you all are going on about how its mean amazes me as well. It's pretty obvious it's a joke, the quotes in it even assist in that.

Anyways, i'm apparently stuck in a war with my brother. We share a bedroom and he keeps his computer in our room. I keep mine in my basement. So i'm usually down there and he's in the room. Two weeks ago he switched to a night shift at his job, working 11pm-7am. He wakes up around 8pm and gets home around 7:40 am and goes to bed around 11am. I'm a night person and always stayed up until around 10am to begin with, so i figure hey this may be nice as a few times ive accidentally woken my brother up as i was going to bed and he was an hour away from having to wake up for work. Nope. I've actually started taking on more 'normal' hours of sleep usually going to bed around 5-6am. But heres the problem, my brother seems to be getting revenge on me. I mentioned i had woken him up on accident before, and i get his anger as i'd be going to be at 9am and he'd be waking up to either go to work, or to wake up and start his day off on his computer in the room where i'm also sleeping. He comes home from work at 7:40, i'm alseep, he turns all the lights on, tv on, pc on, teamspeak on talking to friends playing smite and shit. I was being nice about it and letting him have his revenge but ive only woken him up maybe 2 times a month for 3 months. This is everyday now, i can't fucking sleep now. any time i say something he gets pissy at me, it'll be as simple as 'hey can i open a window?" and i'll get back some long winded speech on why im selfish for wanting a window to be open. I can deal with this though as ive had roomates who were worse. im working but only till 10pm. My mom wanted to do a family thing where we all go to a bar, but honestly no one in my family but my mom is keen on getting a bit drunk with the whole family. Im fairly sure the plan fell apart what with my brother also working so im going to head to a party after work. Don't really know the people but i was invited and its a short walk away from a bus and if i want to walk home i only have to walk 2 miles which is practically nothing to me.

New Years has actually been so chill the last decade or so. The only time we ever really did stuff was in 2000 but since then, it's just been whatever. My grandpa used to like to play dominoes pretty late with us and my brothers/cousins but that's stopped in the last five years too.
