It ends up being a bit of a mess. Regardless, they all stay friends and at the end of the last season Korra apologises to Asami for various things she did wrong, Asami says she couldn't deal with losing both her and her father in the same day, Korra ends up suggesting a vacation in the spirit world, just the 2 of them.
