I bought myself a case of (good)booze, got given another one. Drinkapalooza.
Christmas is the only time I drink obscene amounts with family.
I don't drink with the family, though.
Man, like three quarters of my presents are deodorant or shower gel
Seven cans of deodorant, four bottles of shower gel.
Seven cans of deodorant, four bottles of shower gel.
It looks like your family are giving you a hint.
I'd honestly rather get nothing than a zero thought 'I'm getting you this because I feel obliged to' gift

i got 400 dollars a lot of nice clothes and some gift cards from friends so im p happy
I just try and be polite and stay away from my family for the day
I'd hate christmas if I had to live and do it with around a shitty family myself. I don't have the best family but we have our good points and that's who I choose to enjoy my time with. As you get older and moved out hopefully you can nurture relationships with people/friends/relatives that are more of a family to you and it might be a better holiday then. If not, then its not the end of the world, there are plenty of other holidays to enjoy and theres plenty more to life than christmas time. I've got some friends who hate christmas too, mostly because they aren't really into the whole spirit of the season thing at all and would probably live in florida with their friends or by themselves if they could :v:
I got the following gifts: A book on how the European and Chinese civilizations developed and became extremely advanced societies while everyone else stayed stuck in the stone age. A book on Chinese history and why China is set to become a superpower over the next century. A book on military blunders (including examples of incompetent generals). A book on the Roman Army. Sun Tzu's art of war. A book on the history of philosophy. A small reference book of some sort about current affairs (from global warming to the Syrian rebellion). Finally, a history book on Russia (half of it covering the last nine decades).
You must now post it.
Unfortunatly it hasn't even shipped yet even though I ordered it two weeks ago. So we likely won't get it for a while...
But I want to see what the ascension card game looks like.
Its really fun. If you've played Dominion, its a very similar game to that in that its a deckbuilding game. But its slightly simplified, faster, plays good with 2 people (domionion needs 3-4 to really be fun IMO), and much more random. Essentially the pool of cards you build your deck with is from is in the center lane and whenever a card is acquired in the center or destroyed, it gets replaced from the main deck on the next turn. There are three cards to the right you can always acquire though that are basic, if you can't really get anything in the center. You use these cards to build your deck which you then use you defeat monster cards that might appear in the center lane for honor points. You win by gaining honor, which is done by defeating monsters with cards in your hand (i.e. heavy infantry cards are worth 2 attack, so you can kill a monster worth 2 attack or less with it to gain its reward which is usually honor points). Cards you buy also have honor value, but these aren't counted until the end of the game. Once the honor pool of 60 is depleted (or however much you want), then the game ends and you total up your honor points you've earned from monster killing plus the honor your cards are worth. Highest honor wins. Pretty quick and simple to setup and the random element of the draw makes it a bit easier to play compared to going against someone who is pro at Dominion.

Welp, at about 8pm GMT today on Christmas day my boyfriends step dad passed away in the hospital due to internal bleeding in the lungs. I have no idea what to say or do beyond offering my condolences , I've tried talking to him but he says he's ok and I've also told him if he can call me if he needs to. Is that enough? I cant say I've had to deal with anything like this ever... (since he lives so far away i cant exactly comfort him in person either.)

That's what I would do, at least :p
Just played a fucking 40 minute mission on FSX (Flight Simulator X) I finally got to the end but I tapped a fucking crate and failed the entire mission. sdfsdfsdfsdf
I singlehandedly cooked Christmas dinner this year! Nothing quite like arguing with a small Irish woman about whether or not the turkey is cooked. I think I may have eaten enough that I'm slipping into a food coma.
Am I the only one here that has a strong dislike for christmas?
I get you. If things are going bad in life then it can make the deck-the-halls stuff ring kinda hollow. But Christmas is also about showing your love for people you care about; friends and family. That's why I'm wearing a paper crown and pretending to enjoy Michael Mcintyre with the fam, instead of doing my own thing. Pretending to be festive isn't that hard and it's only one day out of your whole year. Chin up, eh?
I singlehandedly cooked Christmas dinner this year! Nothing quite like arguing with a small Irish woman about whether or not the turkey is cooked. I think I may have eaten enough that I'm slipping into a food coma.
How can people eat that much? I could barely fit in a bowl of soup and a small ham sandwich and I'm pretty much stuffed for the entire day, I couldn't imagine how people can eat like enough that they actually get sleepy and stuff
Made fried pork chops with a vegetable curry for dinner. First time cooking with pork and it seems to have gone well.
How does one politely cancel a date?
Spending the entirety of Christmas watching It's Always Sunny.
HOW DO YOU NOT LIKE CHOCOLATE AND INCENSE
i dont get incense it just makes rooms smelly and smokey

well I have had a truly nice Christmas this year (after work that is!) Work was dead but we made plenty of tips and I got free breakfast from my boss and then free dinner (which I just had, and was pretty good), afterwards lunch with my family and the lady friend, then a pretty great breakfast-for-dinner with all sortsa homemade goodies and the traditional alcohol drowning with family friends. I hope you've all had as nice a day as I have, even if you don't celebrate the christian holiday it is (like we do; for us it's just an excuse to be merry and give gifts) ♥
